ROBERT “BOB” ROSE

April 19th, 1947 – August 3rd, 2022

Robert William Rose was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta on April 19th, 1947. He was the only son of George and Margaret Rose and lived his whole life in the house his grandfather, William McNeil, built. His only cousin, Susan, lived next door and the neighbourhood kids enjoyed riding bikes, swimming in the nearby public pool, and attending the local school. A yearly visit to the many farm relatives in Eckville, Alberta was a summer highlight for the family. Bob also enjoyed boating with friends and took pride in his cars. He attended SAIT to become an electronics specialist and worked for many years at Medicine Hat College as the theatre technician. Trips to Hawaii and a vacation to Fiji in 1980 were memorable adventures.
Bob married Gloria in 2002 and she introduced him to the fun of antique shopping and hiking in the mountains. Hikes included Lake O’Hara, tea houses at Lake Louise and Castle Mountain. Bob’s greatest interest was gardening and he took great pride in his success with peas and later his rose garden. He also enjoyed 35 mm photography and won awards for his photos. He was a dedicated son, a conscientious worker and a good friend to many.
Bob was predeceased by his parents, George and Margaret Rose and will be fondly remembered by his wife, Gloria; stepsons, Daniel and Sandon Deering; cousin, Susan; family and many Smith relatives in Eckville area.
A private graveside service will be held in the fall. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s memory may be made the Medicine Hat SPCA by visiting http://www.spca.ca. Condolences may be made at http://www.gracememorial.com. Arrangements are made by
