1928 ~ EDGAR HOFER ~ 2022

On July 17, 2022, Edgar Hofer was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven at the age of 94. He leaves to cherish his memory his sister-in-law, Audrey Hofer; his two children, Earl (Jan) Hofer, and Ardeth (Mel) Wittke; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren. He was predeceased by the love of his life, Olga in 2016; his parents, Jacob and Magdelina Hofer; his sister, Erna Stern; his sister, Hilda Schimpf; his brother, Jake Hofer; as well as 2 brother-in-laws.
He was born on April 7, 1928 in Neudorf, Russia. He immigrated to Canada as an infant with his family. Edgar was actively involved in his church where he met his wife, Olga. They were married for 67 years. Edgar and Olga moved from town to the farm in 1960, where they raised their family.
His family, his church, farming and community were his passion.
His love and laughter will be greatly missed. It was his solid faith in the Lord Jesus Christ that sustained him to his last breath.
Heaven has gained what we have lost…

1942 ~ LESLEE MARTIN ~ 2022


Leslee Patricia Martin of Medicine Hat passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at the age of 79 years, beloved wife of the late Derek H. Martin. She leaves to cherish her memory four children, Gregg (Kathy) Martin, Derek (Kathy) Martin, Shawn Martin (Tracie Lutz), and Cindy Martin; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren, Dexter, Casey, Lauren (Matt) and their children Ryden & Madden, Hayden, Christina C. and her son Jayden and Lauren C., Austin, Colton, Alexis; as well as her brother, Ron (Ina) Watson and their family. Leslee was born in Lethbridge on August 31, 1942 to Fred and Kaye Watson, she grew up in Lethbridge. Following schooling she began working in the bank as a teller. In April of 1976 she and her husband Derek H. Martin relocated their family to Medicine Hat when they took over ownership of the Pattison Funeral Home Ltd. which their family still proudly operates today. Leslee truly made Medicine Hat her home; she was involved in many community groups and societies including Beta Sigma Phi, Medicine Hat Chamber of Commerce (where she served as President), Medicine Hat Community Foundation and Board of Fifth Avenue United Church, among others. When her sons took over operations of Pattison Funeral Home in 1987, Leslee began a second career as a decorator. She owned and operated Artistic Interiors successfully for many years before retiring fully in the late 90's. During her retirement Leslee enjoyed travelling, especially time away in Hawaii along with continuing her community involvement and in the past several years, her beloved dog Tiggy. Those who wish to pay their respects and visit with the family may do so atthe PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Saturday July 23, 2022, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Monday, July 25, 2022, at 1:30 p.m. with Life Celebrant, David Townsend. The service will be live streamed, and family and friends who are unable to attend are invited to watch the service by searching for the Pattison Funeral Home Youtube page. The video will go live 10 minutes prior to service time and will remain on the Youtube page for future viewing. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. 1947 ~ CONNIE SHORROCK ~ 2022

Connie Cameron Shorrock of Redcliff passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at the age of 75 years.
Connie is survived by her daughter, Jackie (Tammy) Magnusson; her step son, Kelly Magnusson; five grandchildren, Buddy (Nikki) Magnusson, Samantha (Clay) McDonald, Sarah (Shawn) Brooks, Tyler Magnusson, and Tanner (Megan) Vallee; one brother, Dunc (Brenda) Shorrock; as well as many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Connie was predeceased by her parents, Margaret and Howard Shorrock; one son, James Shorrock; her step daughter, Brenda Kalawarny; one brother, Harvey Shorrock; her sister, Hughene Terry; and her nephew, Robbie Shorrock.
Connie was born to Howard and Margaret Shorrock on January 13, 1947 in Minnedosa, Manitoba. Connie took great pride in all that she did, two of her most memorable jobs were managing the dining room at the Medicine Hat Golf and Country Club and her 25 years as a correctional officer at the Medicine Hat Remand Centre.
Connie’s love beyond her family was the mountains. Over 30 years of camping she gained a lifetime of friends whom all miss her dearly. The numerous campfire meals that only Connie could do. She truly was the “hostess with the mostest”. Food, drinks, stories, laughter, and of course the odd scare if she could.
Connie always wanted to show family and friends the beauty that the mountains had hidden within – fishing holes, berry patches, and waterfalls that were tucked away. By Connie’s request, no funeral service will be held.

1938 ~ DOLORES MARLENE OLSON ~ 2022


Dolores Marlene Olson of Medicine Hat passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at the age of 83 years, beloved wife of the late Donald Olson.
She leaves to cherish her memory three children, Dwayne (Kendra) Olson, Debra Olson (Mike O’Connor), and Dale (Wendy) Olson; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren: Jodi (Allen) Hornung and their children, Eben, Bram and Otto, Stacey Martini, Dustin (Cathy) Goldade and their son, Dayton, Mikayla Olson (Jared Noble), Scott Gustavson (Ashley Gill), Regan (Jay) Hogg and their children, Brock and Quinn; as well as her sisters, Leona Marsh, Dagney Vermunt, Audrey (Keith) Bennett, her brother, Garry (Lucille) Kramer, and all of their families.

Dolores was predeceased by her husband, Donald Olson on July 4, 2010; her parents Ferdinand and Ella Kramer; one son Douglas Olson; one granddaughter, Jessica Olson; one grandson, Tyler Gustavson, four brothers-in-law, Lee Vermunt, Joseph Baron, Frank Marsh, and Gordon Sinclair; and sister-in-law Karen Foster. Dolores was born on October 13, 1938 in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan and spent her youngest years on the family farm. As a young girl the Kramer family moved to Medicine Hat where Dolores obtained her schooling and spent many years helping her parents run the family business, Central Grocery and Meats. She married Donald Olson on August 6, 1960 in Medicine Hat and together they raised four children. Wonderful memories were made enjoying summers full of traveling, camping, fishing, golfing, and playing cards. Dolores had many hobbies and was a very gifted seamstress. She cherished family gatherings, preparing wonderful meals, and handcrafting personalized gifts. Dolores worked as a hairdresser for many years, was also employed at (Dominion) Domglass, and later held many office management jobs in the city. Don and Dolores enjoyed their retirement years working along side their son Dale at his pub Oly’s Alehouse. Dolores enjoyed every minute spent meeting new people, cooking German meals, and socializing with friends and family.
A private family funeral service will be held. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. DOROTHY MARIE HOPE (nee BENINGER)

April 15, 1928 ~ June 16, 2022

Mrs. Dorothy Hope passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2022, at the age of 94 years. Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Jackie (Rick) Hope-Hammel; son, Kyle (Debbie) Hope; daughter-in-law, Dona Hope; granddaughters, Kendra (Will) Klatt, Natalie (Kurt) Reid, Ashley (Jim) Wettlaufer, Dakotah (Anthony) Hope-Cupidio, Kaylee (Dan) Hope, Jennifer (Jayson) Ottenbreit, grandson, Don (Jess) Hope; great-grandchildren, Kole and Kayden Klatt, Karsun and Konrad Pears, Sofia and Roman Reid, Mason Ottenbreit, Camden Cupidio, Julianna, Jaxon and Jayden Hope (and their mother, Starr Hope), Finlay Jacob; brother, Howard (Melanie) Beninger; brother-in-law, George (Ruth) Hope and sister-in-law, Lorreen Treloar as well as many loved nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Jack Hope; son, Keith Hope; great- granddaughter, Faith Hope; parents, Lue Etta and Erwin Beninger; mother and father-in-law, Mary Elizabeth and Jack Sr. Hope; sisters-in-law, Ellen Ladret, Violet Davis and Madeleine Beninger; brothers-in-law, Robert Treloar, Al Ladret and Al Davis; niece, Dayle Woods; nephew, Bob Treloar and Dorothy’s loyal friend, Eileen “Billie” Felesky.
Dorothy was born on April 15, 1928 and was raised and educated in Gull Lake, Saskatchewan. After graduation, Mom moved to Medicine Hat to attend Nurses Training at the Medicine Hat General Hospital and graduated in the class of 1951 RN, with the awards for Obstetrical Nursing and Bedside Nursing. Mom was very proud of her profession and was known for her compassion, thoroughness and caring during her working years. Mom met Dad while in training and they were married on August 2, 1952 in Gull Lake, Saskatchewan. In 1956, they moved to Redcliff where Mom resided until April of this year when she moved to River Ridge Senior’s Village Independent living. She was always very proud of their little house on the corner of Broadway and Mitchell and the appearance of the yard. Mom loved to garden and especially loved the flowers. She and Dad enjoyed trips to the Cypress Hills and the Rocky Mountains. Mom’s greatest love and joy was her family. To her grandchildren, she was Grandma Dot. She was very proud of each and every one of them and their accomplishments. When giving cards, Mom would often find a quote or a little poem to convey advice, encouragement or express love. Mom was a member of the Nurse’s Alumnae and looked forward to attending the yearly reunions. Mom was also a member of the Redcliff Legion, Branch No. 6. She enjoyed reading and was an avid fan of the Toronto Blue Jays and the Calgary Flames. Mom’s life was full. She had good friends, good times and made everlasting memories.
A Graveside Celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held at the Redcliff Cemetery on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. with Life Celebrant Gerry Getz officiating. A time of fellowship will follow thereafter at the Redcliff Legion, 302 Broadway Avenue West in Redcliff.

Grace Mae Lemon of Medicine Hat, passed away on Tuesday, July 19th, 2022 at the age of 92 years. Grace leaves to cherish her memory her children, Allen Lemon, Dwight (Carolfae) Lemon, Gregory (Barbara) Lemon, Rodney Lemon and Andrea (Greg) Tunstall; grandchildren, Neal (Menchie) Lemon, Scott (Natacha) Lemon, Amy (Trevor) Brees, Tracy (Brent) Follensbee, Gillian (Thom) Walton, Hilary Lemon, Andrew (Becky) Tunstall and Jordan (Ashley) Tunstall; great grandchildren, Maxime, Maya, Aria, Lucas, Sadie, Braxton, Birkley, Tyce, Sylvie, Ezra, Sloane, Jules, Tristen and Brooklyn; sister, Darlene Edmunds Freitag (Will); brothers-in-law, Joe Zaba and Bill Mayer. KENNETH WILLIAM GAIR

October 9, 1947 ~ July 7, 2022

Ken was born in The Pas, MB., on October 9, 1947, the only son of Jean and Bill Gair. He was raised on the farm in the Carrot Valley and attended school in the Pas and the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg. After school, he spent a year exploring the British Isles and France, delving into family history and enjoying the old world atmosphere. On his return to Canada, he worked as a surveyor, a carpenter and on construction across Western and Northern Canada. He married Victoria Percy in 1974, and together they made their home in various areas including B.C., Northern Alberta, Weyburn, SK, Cowan, MB., and finally Redcliff where they eventually retired to enjoy their home and garden while spending time with family and friends. Their adventures over the years would fill a book! Their home, wherever it was, became the hub of the wheel around which their large family revolved. Ken was predeceased by his wife, Victoria, in 2021 as well as his step-son, Ron Percy, in 2016. A dedicated scholar, historian, author and musician, Ken left this world on Thursday, July 7, 2022, while at St. Joseph’s Hospice with family at his side following a 6 month bout with cancer. He leaves to treasure his memory: granddaughter, Amy (Jesse) Finnerty and family – Style, Tressie and Elder as well as Candi Percy and son, Syah; sister, Jeanne (Vernon) LaJambe and family; brothers-in-law, Jean (Betty) Rivard and Glen (Bev) Rivard as well as many nieces, nephews and a host of good friends.

“I see now that my legacy, my gift to the world, is all you people who I’ve loved. I feel like I’ve been given a gift of love – to give and to receive. And I’ve loved and been loved by such wonderful people. That’s the best legacy I can leave the world, and that’s enough.”

Rest in peace, Ken and Vic. You will be so missed. MARLENE McKAY

April 2, 1951 – July 17, 2022

It is with great sadness, the family of Shiela ‘Marlene’ (Hoff) McKay share the news of her sudden and unexpected passing on July 17, 2022 at the age of 71. Marlene leaves behind: sons Brent and Brad; grandchildren Ryder, Weston, Karista and Megan; and daughters-in -law Shauna and Penny. Marlene was predeceased by her husband Norm McKay in 1999. She spent her remaining years with her loving partner Mike Mahoney. A Come and Go Celebration of Life will be held at Ralphs SteakHouse on Tuesday, July 26th from 4-7pm. TOM ERB

July 29, 1962 ~ July 15, 2022

It is with a heavy heart that Lou announces the sudden passing of her son, Thomas Gail Eugene Erb on Friday, July 15, 2022, in Redcliff, AB., at the age of 59 years. Tom was an avid sportsman and especially loved fishing, golf and watching hockey and baseball. Tom began working for Pony Express at the age of 19, working there for 23 years before starting with Good Year where he was employed for the next 17 years. Tom will be forever remembered in the hearts of his mother, Lou Beard and father, Gene (Maureen); brother, Ron (Lavern); sister, Karen (Greg) along with their children, Dalton and Kayci as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many special friends. Tom was predeceased by his step-dad, Bob and his brother, Gordon. Tom’s life will be silently remembered in the hearts of all who knew him without the proceedings of a formal funeral service.
