Marni Gaye Margaret Pruden passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at the age of 55 years, beloved wife of Tim Pruden of Medicine Hat. Graduating in 1989, with a degree in education, Marni began teaching at Ross Glen school, moving on to Southview School at which time Tanner was born. She returned to teaching which took her to Crestwood School for many years, finishing her career at the Hub. A big part of life for Marni and Tim was spent following Tanner wherever playing hockey took him. Teaching was her passion and she remained involved with her students whether at school or on her own time. This was especially true in the past years where she learned to adapt to the “online” world and help her students with that process. Marni retired from teaching on June 30, 2022. Her grandchildren were an important part of her life, and she finally got the gift of a granddaughter just 6 weeks ago. Marni’s gift of caring and compassion will be missed by all who knew her. Elizabeth Ann (Betty) Sawyer passed from this life on June 29, 2022, at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital. She was predeceased by her mother, Blanche Alberta Sawyer and her father, William Charles Sawyer, as well as her twin sister and best friend, Charlotte Lee Fortier. She is survived by her nephews, Thomas William Sawyer and Jay Taylor Fortier. Betty was born minutes after her twin sister on March 14, 1934, in Sherbrooke, Quebec. This despite having multiple disabilities from birth. In later years, she enjoyed her own home, her feline and canine companions and her small circle of friends and relatives who regularly kept in touch. These last five years saw Betty as a resident at the Meadowlands Retirement Comm- unity in Medicine Hat, where she appreciated the care and friendship of many staff, as well as that of her tablemates, Joy and Doris. The family wish to thank the medical staff of 4 West, MHRH for their care and compassion towards Betty during her final days.
