1939 – PAT KLATT – 2022

Patricia “Pat” Ruth Klatt of Medicine Hat passed away on Friday, March 25, 2022, at the age of 83 years. Born in Calgary on January 25, 1939, Pat was the middle of three children born to Arthur and Violet Gulley. When she left school, Pat began working at a bank, but soon married David Doupe and focused on raising her family. In 1970, she divorced and moved her family to Medicine Hat which remained her home. Pat was active in the community and known by many due to her work in the coffee shop, and nursing home. In 1972, she married Eugene Beaupre. They divorced in 1983. In 1984, she married Kenny Klatt, bringing Corrine and Shane into her life as a second family. She leaves to cherish her memory three children: Lorraine (Miles) Constable, Dennis (Nancy) Beaupre, and Barbara Beaupre; two step children, Corrine (Mark) Watson and Shane (Jenn) Klatt; seven grandchildren, Michelle (Paul) and their children, Isabelle and Ewan; Heather, Krysta (Scott), Jessica, Stephanie, Justin, Caitlin and Greyson; one brother, David (Helen) Gulley as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husbands David Doupe, Eugene Beaupre, and Kenny Klatt; her parents, Violet and Arthur Gulley; and one brother, James (Margaret) Gulley. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 11 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in the PATTISON CHAPEL. Interment will follow in the Redcliff Cemetery. BERT KLEIS

1938 ~ 2022

Bert Kleis passed away peacefully in Medicine Hat on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, with his wife, Evelyn and son, Landon by his side. Along with his beloved wife, Evelyn, left to cherish Bert’s memory is their son, Landon (Marie) and granddaughters, Zoe, Ellie and Andrea all of New Westminster, BC; beloved siblings, John (Lorna) of Anaheim, CA, Audrey (Gordon) of Medicine Hat, Lorraine of White Rock, BC; brothers-in-law, Harold of Medicine Hat, Paul (Carol) of Turner Valley, AB., as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and their families. Bert was predeceased by his brother, Edward (Joan); sisters, Bertha (Sam), Gertrude and Erna; brother-in-law, Fred. After selling his business interests in Cedar Square Insurance, ReMax Medalta and HomeLife Realty in Medicine Hat, Bert and Evelyn moved to their country home to enjoy retirement. He loved to observe wildlife and be surrounded by peaceful sounds and views. He also liked to entertain friends and travel. Bert would like to say “much appreciated” to his home care nurses, Dr. Mark Thorogood and the Alberta Health Services team for their compassionate and attentive care for the last six months. A celebration of Bert’s life will be held in late June. Further details will be announced in the coming weeks. Last Friday, family and many friends gathered at Lions Park in Redcliff to honour and celebrate the life of this much loved man. Special music, a video tribute and eulogies reflected a life well lived. Doug’s memory will be treasured in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

MAXINE LEEDAHL

February 27, 1925 – June 2, 2022
Maxine Leedahl passed away on June 2, 2022, at the age of 97 years. She will be remembered by her son Brian Leedahl, daughter Cathy Leedahl, daughter-in-law Joanne Notley, sister Nancy Cutting, sisters-in-law Lois Leedahl and Gladys Osborne, brothers-in-law Allan (Laurette) Leedahl and Gerry Kolen; her grandchildren Jacquie Leedahl, Shari Leedahl (Linus Clark), David Leedahl, Stacey Leedahl (Cam McRuvie), Jillian Bocking and Heather Bocking; six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Maxine was predeceased by her husband Cliff in 2002, son Doug Leedahl in 2018, grandson Jeff Leedahl in 2022; her parents Archie and Lillian Cross, sisters Dorine White and Elaine Spence, their spouses Don White and Lisle Spence and brother-in-law Jack Cutting. She was also predeceased by Cliff’s sisters Violet Wood and her husband Ken, Marie McConnell and her husband Ross, and Delores Kolen; Cliff’s brother Wilf Leedahl and brother-in-law George Osborne. Maxine was the eldest daughter of Archie and Lillian Cross of Fiske, Saskatchewan. She attended secretarial school in Saskatoon and that is where she met and married Cliff and raised their three children. Maxine enjoyed gatherings with family and friends; Christmas being her favorite holiday. Max and Cliff enjoyed camping and in retirement they spent summers travelling in their 5th wheel and winters were spent “down south” with family and friends. Maxine will be remembered for the great homemaker and cook she was, and her talent for all kinds of needlework, knitting, crocheting, quilting and sewing. The family would like to thank all of Maxine’s caregivers at Timberstone Mews in Red Deer for their care and kindness. There will be no funeral by request. MYRNA ELIZABETH IRONSIDE

1951 ~ 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Myrna Ironside on May 22nd, 2022. She is survived by her soul mate, husband, Derrick; sister, Mabel (Murray) Pike of Red Deer; cousins, nieces and nephews; godchildren; Derrick's family; as well as countless friends. There is comfort in knowing that she is reunited with her beloved, talented daughter, Megan; her parents, John and Louise Pickering; and her brother, David Pickering. Myrna was born May 29, 1951, she grew up in the Red Deer area, graduating high school in 1969 and the University of Alberta in 1972. In her first year of university, (although they knew each other before) Myrna and Derrick started dating. They were married June 3rd, 1972 and that same year they relocated to Likoma Island, Malawi, East Africa to teach for two years. This adventure was their catalyst to travel, somewhere near 50 countries around the world. Upon returning to Canada, and following a stint in Red Deer, they settled in Medicine Hat. Myrna returned to university (University of Lethbridge) to attain her education degree and was employed by the Medicine Hat Separate School Division until her retirement. Their daughter, Megan, was born shortly after graduation and Myrna's world revolved around her and teaching. Besides teaching and being a phenomenal mom, Myrna loved singing in St. Mary's Choir, Musical Theatre and Firehall Theatre. She performed in numerous plays, and also directed many, often with Megan in them. Myrna may have been small in stature but she was a giant in energy—building self-esteem and creativity. In 2008, the sudden passing of her dear Megan took its toll. Myrna continued to participate in theatre and to travel; but her natural vim and vigour was gone. A Celebration of Myrna’s life will be held at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, Medicine Hat, Alberta on June 10, 2022 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Shane Hein officiating.
