1933 ~ MARGARET HOBSON ~ 2022

Margaret Hobson of Medicine Hat, passed away on Friday, May 20th, 2022 at the age of 88 years. Margaret is survived by her children, Simon (Karen) Hobson and Linda (Jack) Stickel; grandchildren, Micheal Stickel, Mark (Lita Ryant) Stickel, Sarah (Marco) Franchetto, Andrew (Shantele) Hobson, Adam Hobson, Amanda Hobson (Greg Devlin), and Samantha Hobson; sister, Norma in England; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, James “Jim” Hobson; parents, Norman and Melinda Firth; and grandchild, Clayton Hobson. The Funeral Service will be held at All-Saints Anglican Church, 606 – 12th Street SW, Medicine Hat, AB T1A 4V2, on Monday, June 6th, 2022 at 10:00 am with Reverend Guy Snell officiating. CHARLOTTE ANNE LONSON

1938 ~ 2022
Anne Lonson of Medicine Hat peacefully passed away on Monday, May 16, 2022 at the age of 83 years, in the presence of her devoted husband, Don Lonson. She leaves to cherish her memory, her 6 children, Beth (Robin) Rosborough, Gavin (Shannon) Lonson, Brock (Sonja) Lonson, Mia (Sean) Glasser, Kerri (Wendell) Taylor and Carmen Murguly; as well as her 11 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; sister, Sylvia Bradish; and sister-in-law, Eugenia Richardson. She was predeceased by her parents, Chester and Violet Richardson; twin brother, Allan Richardson; brother, Herb Young and wife, Toni; sister, Dorothy Chisholm and husband, Leonard; sister, Isabelle Allen and husband, Ken, and brother-in-law, James Bradish. Anne was born in Central Butte, Sask. on Dec. 5, 1938. She spent her early years on a farm in Log Valley, Sask. Reading and music have been her lifelong passion. In 1952, when her family moved to Medicine Hat she discovered another great joy, drama and musical theatre. She sang in the Westminster United Church choir for many years and enjoyed working as an Educational Assistant for the Medicine Hat School District. She had a great fondness for all the children in her life and had a quick wit and wonderful sense of humour. PEMBERTON, SYLVIA DELLE

March 1, 1938 – April 3, 2022
“…if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven…” 2 Corinthians 5:1

Sylvia Pemberton (nee Redden) passed away peacefully at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Sunday, April 3, 2022, at the age of 84. She discarded her earthly tent and entered her new eternal building to be with Jesus forever. She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 65 years, Ken Pemberton of Medicine Hat; her four children, Cynthia (David) Hall of Medicine Hat, Terri Lynn (Peter) Blanchard of Ellershouse, Nova Scotia, Kelli McIsaac of Kingston, Ontario, Craig (Lorna) Pemberton of Medicine Hat; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many other family and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, Havelock Redden and Ethel Redden (nee Woodman); and her three brothers, George, Clarence and Ervin.
Ken and Sylvia were married on October 27, 1956, in Martock, Nova Scotia in the home she grew up in. They lived in the Bedford and the Windsor areas, in Nova Scotia, where their children were born and raised. Here, they developed many life-long friendships that continued even after their move “out west”. In 1980, they moved to Medicine Hat, Alberta for a “change” in life. This new home became one they loved. On arrival to the Hat, they attended Heights Baptist Church where they found many new friends that became a great blessing to them.
Sylvia was the “heart and soul” of her family. She lovingly made each of them feel uniquely special and loved. Holidays and life events always were momentous through her ability to cook and bake wonderful treats. Her children and grandchildren often commented about her “brown-bread”, sugar-cinnamon donuts, and birthday cake with the wonderful icing. She was Nannie that made even simple days at Echo Dale Park feel like the “best day ever”.
Sylvia was known for her sense of humour and her ability to make people laugh. One friend commented “that Sylvia is such a hoot”. She would often say things that made family and friends, co-workers, and even complete strangers double over with laughter. Often the family would recite the things Mum and Nannie had said. It is those remembrances that continue to bring joy in the face of loss.
A life value for Sylvia was gratitude. She was not very tolerant of “complaints” and would often say “just be thankful”. She looked to be thankful for even the small things; like the colour of the paint on the living room wall, the breakfast lovingly prepared by her husband, a freshly changed bed by her daughter, a chocolate bar brought by her son. She brought her family great joy and they brought her the same.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, May 29, 2:00 PM at Heights Baptist Church, 1250 Division Ave S, Medicine Hat, AB with Pastor Art Hildebrand officiating. A recording of the service will be available to view at http://www.gracememorial.com on Monday, May 30th. A private family interment will take place at a later date.

RAYMOND "RAY" SCHINDLE

1935 ~ 2022
Raymond Schindle of Medicine Hat, passed away on Saturday, May 21st, 2022 at the age of 86 years. Ray leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Mavis; sons, Ron (Marilyn) and Ken (Patty); grandchildren, Stacey (Jon) Boyer, Jay (Tara) Schindle, Chelsey (Jerimy) Chisholm, Tiffany Schindle and Amber Schindle (Matt); great-grandchildren, Kennedy, London, Cole, Max and Cash; brother, Dan (Lorna) Schindle; sister, Janet Schindle-White; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ray was predeceased by his parents, August and Emma Schindle; brothers, Wayne and Gerald. Ray was born October 17, 1935, raised and educated in Watrous, SK. District. In 1950, he moved to Brandon, MB and married Mavis on September 3, 1955. They settled in Virden for two years, then moved to Burnaby for a year then to Estavan in 1959. In 1960, Schindle & Bazin Oil Construction was formed. In 1971, they moved to Medicine Hat and retired in 1976. However, in 1980, Ray started another company called Raymax Coiled Tubing Co. Ltd. from 1980 to 1988 and then fully retired. In 1988, Ray and Mavis moved to Pender Harbor until 1998 when they returned to Medicine Hat. Ray loved fishing, his Mercedes, bike riding on his recumbent bike, and the company of family and friends. August 16, 1960 ~ May 22, 2022

It is with an extremely heavy heart that Yvonne announces the tragic passing of her beloved husband, Stephen Weston ‘Wes’ Oldford on Sunday, May 22, 2022, at the age of 61 years. Wes was born to the late Weston and Grace Oldford on August 16th, 1960, in St. John’s, NL. 39 years ago, Wes married his best friend, Yvonne. She was the true love of his life and he went out of his way each and every day to make her happy. Together, they were blessed with their two beautiful children, Stephen and Viktoria. Wes was then graced with his nine precious grandchildren, Brooklyn, Chloe, Lucas, Chance, Abby, Zoe, River, Linken and Isaiah. To say that Wes adored his grandchildren is an understatement – they were his entire pride and joy. Wes is survived by his brothers, Mike of Hamilton, Ont., Dereck of Medicine Hat, AB., Christopher of St. John’s, NL., Eugene of St. John’s, NL., and sister, Marie of Lewisporte, NL. Wes is also survived by his mother-in-law, Elizabeth Hodder of St. Bernard’s, NL.; his large circle of sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Debbie and Wally of St. Bernard’s, NL., Jacqueline and Anthony of St. Bernard’s, NL., Allie and Vicki of Medicine Hat, AB., David and Dianne of Paradise, NL., Jeannie and John of Paradise, NL., and Dougie of St. John’s, NL. He was predeceased by his father-in-law, Douglas Hodder of St. Bernard’s, NL. Wes’ passions were his family, his friends and doing the many things he enjoyed. If a set of spoons were left on a table, everyone was sure to hear a good tune be played. A big supper was always cooked – anything anyone wanted at any time of the day. And we can’t forget his love of music. Anyone who knew Wes, knew that the music was always playing and he loved nothing more than a big crowd showing up for a good time. Along with being a devoted husband, father and grandfather, Wes worked for CP Rail for more than 30 years – a job that he loved. He went to work every morning with a smile on his face and a helping hand to give. He cherished his job and the wonderful people he worked with. From Newfoundland to Alberta (and beyond), Wes had an immense impact on those who knew him. The world may have gotten darker the day Wes left it but his light will shine on in those he loved, adored and cared for, forever.
