1935 ~ WERNER HERMANN ~ 2022

Werner Hermann of Medicine Hat, passed away on Saturday, April 30th, 2022 at the age of 86 years. Werner leaves to cherish his memory his daughters, Judy Hinzman, Brigitte Odegard and Linda Hermann; sons, Peter Hermann and David Hermann; grandchildren, Travis (Shannon), Torrie, Crystal (Jeff), Shauna (Richard), Tabitha (Jason), Jessica (Dennis), Katelyn (Caine) and Joel (Shelby); 16 great grandchildren; brother, Rudolf; sisters; Rosemarie, Marianne and Isa; as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Germany. Werner was predeceased by his parents, Wilhem and Elli Hermann; his wife, Natalia Hermann; son, Karl Heinz; son-in-law, Garry Hinzman; daughter-in-law, Penny Hermann; great grandson, Joshua Hinzman and brother, Peter. Werner was born May 6, 1935 in Frohndorf, East Germany. He was raised and educated in the Sommerdau district and in Erfurt, Germany. Werner married Natalia in 1957 and in 1958 they immigrated with their two young daughters to Canada, settling in Medicine Hat in the early 1960’s. There then followed three more children making their family complete. Werner worked at Brick & Tile and the Glass factory in Redcliff, retiring from there when they closed. Werner also spent a lot of time helping at Schlenker farms for good friends, Irvin & Gerda Schlenker. Over the years Werner also appreciated the care and help he received from his neighbors, Pat McFarlane whom he chatted with most daily. Werner loved his family and worked hard to provide for what they needed. He was an avid sports fan having coached men’s soccer in the early 60’s and also the Redcliff Flyers hockey team. Affectionately known as “Hermann the German” by his friends. He loved all sports especially German race car drivers and the Detroit Red Wings. The Graveside Service will be held at Hillside Cemetery, Gershaw Dr SW & 10 Ave SW MEDICINE HAT, AB on Friday, May 6th, 2022 at 12:00 pm with Pastor Shane Hein officiating. Ronald Clay passed away on Saturday, April 30th, 2022 at the age of 74 years with family by his side. He will be lovingly missed by his family. ELFRIEDA ECKES

1934 ~ 2022

It is with profound sadness that the family of Elfrieda Eckes announce her peaceful passing at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital this past Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at the age of 87 years. Along with Michael, the love of her life since 1962, Elfrieda leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Lynda Moffatt (Jim Glasgo) and her children, Rick (Chantal) Eckes, Jen (Jordan) Hauck; daughter, Louise Reimer (Wendel Bitz) and her children, Michael (Val), Justin (Nicole), Terri-Lynn (Lyle), Cheyenne (Warren) and Alicia (Jordan); son, Lyle (Lisa) Eckes and their children, Dylan (Melissa) Eckes and Devyn (Rebecca) Eckes. She is also survived by 27 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Katie Pernitsky and Bertha Schmidt as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Johan and Maria Schmidt as well as three siblings, Bill Schmidt, Marie Schrieber and Katherine Lutz. Elfrieda was born during a September snow storm in Orion, AB., on September 22, 1934. Throughout the years, she worked at Dominion Glass, Hycroft China Ltd. and Woolworth. Her greatest pleasure in life came from time spent with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She will forever be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother in the hearts of her family. Our dear mother, Gwen Mary Alene Munroe, beloved wife of the late Allan Duncan Munroe, passed away suddenly in Medicine Hat on Sunday, February 20, 2022, at the age of 87 years.
