1930 ~ CATHERENA WALCHUK ~ 2022 Catherena “Kay” Walchuk of Medicine Hat, passed away on Sunday, April 17th, 2022 at the age of 92 years. 1941 ~ PEGGY SCHMIDT ~ 2022 Peggy Schmidt of Medicine Hat passed away on Friday, April 22, 2022 at the age of 80 years, beloved wife of the late Bob Schmidt. She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Michele Hammel (Tal) and Melody Guckert (Wayne); three grandchildren, Marissa Hammel, Brayden (Rebecca) Guckert, Teyara (Jordan) Heerink and their son Knox; one sister Evelyn (Jerry) Kelln as well as numerous nieces, nephews and the Schmidt family. She was predeceased by her husband Bob on May 14, 2015; her parents, Elsie and Arthur Wallawein; and by two brothers, Don and Gordon Wallawein. Peggy was born on August 21, 1941, at Fox Valley, Saskatchewan and was raised in the Burstall area. On June 13, 1959, she married Bob Schmidt and they resided near Hilda on the Schmidt farm. In the late 60's they moved to Burstall where they raised their family. Later, Peggy ran the bar in Burstall for five years. In 1991, they moved to Medicine Hat where they managed an apartment building. Upon retirement they moved to Chinook Village. Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Tuesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Lance Duncalfe officiating. The service will be live streamed, and family and friends who are unable to attend are invited to watch the service by searching for the Pattison Funeral Home Youtube page. 1956 – CHARMAINE HUMPHREY – 2022 Charmaine Humphrey passed away on Friday, April 15, 2022, at the age of 65 years, beloved wife of Barry Humphrey of Redcliff. She also leaves to cherish her memory three children, Nicole Humphrey, David Humphrey and Nathann Humphrey; two brothers, Craig (Nancy) Porter and Logan (Jane) Porter; three sisters, Shannon (Ross) Andersen, Afton (Dale) George and Ashley (Larry) Jefferson as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Joyce and Donald Porter. Charmaine so loved being a Mom. She encouraged creativity for their three amazing children. Barry and Charmaine were inseparable and were devoted to providing a good home and life for their family. Charmaine had many interests and hobbies from genealogy, gardening, writing magical stories and poems, to making beautiful crafts and silk paintings. From a young age, Charmaine was faced with many health challenges and injuries that lead to her avid interest in the natural health field; attending many courses, workshops and seminars. Her passionate drive to regain her own health lead to her building a very successful natural health business. Charmaine loved to communicate with people and offer to share the vast amount of knowledge she acquired over her years of studying. She will be sadly missed by many but never forgotten. FORNEFETT ERIKA ANNA FORNEFETT, of Lethbridge, beloved wife of Walter Otto Fornefett, passed away peacefully at St. Therese Villa, on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at the age of 93 years.
Besides her loving husband of 72 years, she is survived by her daughter Barbara Gommeringer (Allen) of Calgary and children Mark Gommeringer (Kathleen) of Calgary, Krista Gommeringer of Surrey BC, daughter Rita Perry of Lethbridge and children Tannis Perry (Ricardo Villanueva) and their son Thiago of Victoria BC, Lisa Perry (Scott Armstrong) of Calgary, and son Harry Fornefett (Tammy) of Lethbridge – Children: Logan Lawrence of Medicine Hat, Ashlyn Lawrence of Medicine Hat, Jazlynn Fornefett of Lethbridge She is also survived by a sister Lotte Stein of Lethbridge and brother Horst Mastag of Calgary, five nieces and nephews and their families in Lethbridge and Calgary, and three nieces and nephews and their families in Germany.
She was predeceased by parents, Ernest and Anna Mastag, and brother-in-law, Ludwig Stein.
Erika immigrated to Canada from Germany in 1952 at the age of 23 to start a new life with her beloved husband, Walter. After several weeks at sea, the ship docked in Quebec City and they made their way via train to Southern Alberta, where they planted roots and raised a family. They worked hard the first two years hoeing sugar beets in the Raymond area. Eventually, they moved to Lethbridge where they resided until Erika’s passing. Erika was a homemaker all her life but also enjoyed working part-time at Eaton’s restaurant for 20 years after her children were grown.
Erika had a wonderful life. She worked tirelessly to make a good home for her family, which she loved more than anything. Erika instilled strong family values in her children and reaped what she sowed. When grandchildren came along, this was a major life event for her, as she finally reached the milestone of becoming “Oma”. She wanted to spend as much time with them as possible and made sure they were loved in a way that only Oma can do. She spent many hours playing with them when they were young, making their favorite meals including “Oma cake”, and having them for sleepovers. The house was always filled with love and laughter when Oma was there. She reached another life milestone when she was blessed with her precious great grandchild, Thiago, whom she was able to meet and hold before her passing.
When Erika wasn’t busy with grandchildren, you could find her either in her lovely flower garden also known as “Fornefett Park”, playing beautiful music on her accordion, dancing the night away at the German Canadian Club with Walter, or enjoying “Kaffee und Kuchen” with family or friends. Erika touched so many people’s lives in a special and meaningful way. The world was a better place because of the wonderful, loving, and caring wife, mother, Oma, sister, aunt, friend, and role model that Erika was to so many people. Rest in Peace forever beautiful Erika. Until we meet again.

PATRICIA ANNE EIRICH 1948 – 2022
Patricia Eirich passed away on April 21st, 2022, at the age of 74 years. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Harry Eirich; son, Kevin Neil Eirich; daughter, Shelley (Ron) Torres; grandchild, Tristyn Anne Torres. Patricia was predeceased by her parents, Mike and Anne Chaba; brother, Michael Allen Chaba; sister, Dianne Marie Quinn.
Patricia was born and raised in Calgary, AB. She was an RN who worked primarily with pediatrics, loved reading, gardening and playing with the kiddos. Patricia was selfless and always put others ahead of herself. She was loving, caring and kind with an unique sense of humor.
She was known as “Mocha” by most and will be terribly missed – Patricia was the best daughter, wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend.

PETRICK, LLOYD EDWARD January 26, 1955 – April 15, 2022
Lloyd Edward Petrick passed away April 15, 2022 at the age of 67. Leaving behind his best friend, soul mate and beloved wife Sandra (Silliphant); his sons, Ryan (Jenn), Clay (Randi), Cody (Cody); his cherished grandchildren Nevaeha, Abby, Mylee, Jaelyn, Bell, Jazmyn, Meadow, Jaxtyn and Owen; brother Rick (Sharon), sisters Penny (Grahame), Donna and families; in-laws Glenn (Karen), Wenda (Alf), and Lyle (Tracy), Sandy and their families; as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, many cousins, and friends. Lloyd was predeceased by his parents Shorty and Isobel, younger brother Jerry, in-laws Norm and Marguerite, and brother in-law Brian. Lloyds’ passion in life was his family especially the grandchildren. With a twinkle in his eye, “Papa” enjoyed dress up, tea parties, camping, fishing or just hanging out with his pride and joys. Lloyd enjoyed baseball and hockey. He both played and coached his sons and their friends, and he made lasting impressions and special bonds with many. He retired after a career in the Oil and Gas Industry as a “Pipeliner,” meeting a vast amount of lifelong friends. Lloyd was one of the good guys, he lived by “Treating others like he would want to be treated,”. He loved life, had a great sense of humour, loved to make people laugh with a joke or prank such as his “Uncle Buck” character and a few others. Often, he was the first to volunteer helping out, offering advice, a shoulder to cry on, and to make you feel good. He loved catching up with family and friends.
