KENNETH McDOUGALL

February 26, 1948 – March 10, 2022

Ken transitioned peacefully with his family by his side. He was a devoted husband to Linay and loving father to Michelle and Matthew. He will forever be remembered as Papa by Jack, Emma, Tavin (Coen) and James, Easton, Chloe, Max (McDougall). Ken was a cherished father-in-law to Mark and Christina. He is predeceased by his parents, James and Florence and his sister, Jessie. Ken is survived by his adoring siblings, Edith, Jim, Dan, Lynn, Marilyn and Heather. He will be missed by his faithful companion, Pepsi, who never left his side.

As the baby of a family of eight, Ken was deeply loved and was known for his contagious smile, his boisterous laugh and mischievous nature. Growing up in Calgary, Ken learned the value of hard work from his parents. While working, he met the love of his life, Linay and the two of them would have celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary this summer.

After graduating from the U of C, Ken began his career as a teacher in Airdrie then moved his family to Medicine Hat where he taught for 27 years at CHHS. He was known by many of his students as their favourite teacher, as he was respectful to all and was passionate about helping them to succeed.

You could always find Ken tinkering in the garage working on restoring his father’s Hornet, putting the final touches on his Rat Rod or going to the Wednesday night Show and Shine. He enjoyed spending time golfing and playing hockey with his many friends. His adventurous spirit had him travelling on his motorcycle, as well as a few big trips to Europe. Ken was also a lifelong fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

To know Ken meant you were connected to him. He was an authentic, genuine person who brightened the day of everyone he met. His smile, his heart, his intention and connections did certainly light up a room and draw people in. He meant so much to so many.

Please join us to celebrate Ken’s life with a laugh, story or memory at the Connaught Golf Club on March 19, 2022 from 2-4pm. Condolences may be made at http://www.gracememorial.com. Arrangements are made by
