1922 ~ MARIA RADSMA ~ 2022

Maria passed away on February 22, 2022, with her family by her side. Maria was born in the Hague, Netherlands, the only daughter of five children born to Cornelis and Theodora Pas. In May of 1949, Maria, her husband Remmert, and son Benny immigrated to Canada, settling in Rapid City, Manitoba, where they owned the local garage. In 1950, their only daughter Shirley was born. Maria was known for her quick wit and her need to keep busy. She loved a challenge, especially a math one. Even though she was stubborn in her ways, Maria was full of love for her family. In 2019, Maria moved to Alberta to be closer to her grandchildren.
Her great-grandchildren kept her full of life. She loved to teach them life lessons, and they loved to teach her new technology. At 98 years old, “Hey, google” become one of her new favorite sayings. Ensuring that “Family Comes First”, Maria kept herself busy making items for her family. Her love for knitting kept her mind strong, she enjoyed going to Stitch and Chat, where she would socialize and teach the “old ladies” (that were younger than her) how to knit. Left to mourn are her daughter Shirley (Bob) Hainsworth, brother Theo Pas, 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 19 great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous family members in Holland. She was predeceased by her husband Remmert Radmsa, sons Ben and Jan Radsma, good friend Chris Corby, granddaughter Debbie Walpole, and brothers Dick, Case, and Jack. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. CAL DYCK

October 2, 1948 ~ February 20, 2022

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Calvin Dyck announce his passing in Calgary, AB on Sunday, February 20, 2022, at the age of 73 years, with his daughters by his side. He is survived by his daughters, Carla (Shaun) Kolody and Jacquie Mirtle; step-children, Casey (Cassie) Lalonde, Chantelle (Simon) Fickinger, Shaun (Jen) Lalonde and Shane (Lina) Lalonde as well as his grandchildren, Alexis, Lauren, Evan, Makenna, Shelby, Dante, Gabriel and Baby Lucy. Also mourning Cal’s passing are many close friends and family, especially Gwen Ibach. He was predeceased by his wife, Bonnie; son, Daniel; parents, John and Doris and ex-spouse, Elaine. Calvin was born in Calgary and raised in Medicine Hat. After graduating from Medicine Hat High School, he moved to Edmonton to become a geologist. It was there that he met Elaine and they were married in 1967. Together they raised three children: Jacquie, Carla and Dan. They called Calgary home for the next three decades as Cal worked in the oil and gas industry. He then moved back to Medicine Hat and worked for IXL and the City of Medicine Hat, retiring in 2015. Cal was active on the alumni committee for Medicine Hat High School and it was at the 2001 reunion that he met his soulmate, Bonnie Lalonde. They were married in 2003, blending two families who were stronger together than they were apart. Cal enjoyed golfing and curling but his favourite past time was packing up the motorhome (with or without his grandchildren) and hitting the road. Cal’s family will remember him sitting around a campfire, beverage in hand, and telling ghost stories with the ones he loved. A Celebration of Cal’s life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Friday, March 4, at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery with a reception to follow thereafter in the Cook Southland Reception Facility. Toni’s life was celebrated and respectfully honoured as family and friends united at the Christian Reformed Church. She will be rejoicing with her beloved husband, Arnold in the Heavenly Kingdom.

There’s a door that never closes,
Though it opens but one way –
It’s the door that leads to Heaven
At the end of life’s long day.

Her Life Cherished…
Her Life Honoured.
