1930 – ESTHER REINHELLER – 2022

Esther Reinheller, beloved wife of the late Ben Reinheller, went home to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at the age of 91 years. She leaves to cherish her memory four children, Wes (Janice) Reinheller, David (Sheila) Reinheller, Wayne (Denise) Reinheller, and Dale Reinheller (Dave Whiteside) all of Medicine Hat; six grandchildren, Renee (Matt) Rood of Medicine Hat, Ryan (Andrea) Reinheller of Fairbanks, Alaska, Aliesha (Kelly) Kurpjuweit, Amanda (Michael) Schneider, Michael (Jessica) Reinheller and Melissa (Tyler) Davidson all of Medicine Hat, along with twenty three great grandchildren.
Esther was born on July 4th, 1930 in Medicine Hat, Alberta, to John and Magdalena Croissant. Esther was the youngest of fifteen children. Mary, Edward, Lydia, Otto, George, Sarah, Lydia, Sophie, Tillie, Peter, Ed, Henry, Sam and Johnny.
Esther grew up on the family farm just south of Hilda, Alberta. She had fond memories of the homestead and would often tell many stories of growing up on the farm in the sod home. Esther moved to Medicine Hat in1944 with her parents where she was soon employed with Medalta Potteries as a plate trimmer. Esther became a member of Grace Baptist Church youth group where she met Ben Reinheller the love of her life. They were soon married on October 26th, 1946, the same year Ben started working for Canadian Pacific Railway. Esther managed to take care of both her parents at home and at the same time began raising four boys while Ben was often away working on the railroad. We are extremely grateful for having such a loving and caring mother who spared no efforts to make sure her family was loved and protected.
In their mid thirties, both Ben and Esther renewed their commitment and faith in Christ. This began a lifelong journey as devoted parishioners serving local churches starting with Grace Baptist, Temple Baptist, First Assembly and most recently, River Park Community Church. Esther’s number one gift without a doubt was hospitality. Every chance mom could, she would use that gift to the fullest. Mom and Dad definitely cared about others and often went out of their way to love and support friends and family. People were drawn to their genuine love for their friends and their love for God. Ben and Esther spent many years ministering at both the Lethbridge and Medicine Hat Remand Centres. A few times they even brought released inmates into their home to help them get a fresh start.
Ben and Esther were inseparable and always did things together. In their retirement years, Mom and Dad were very social and would often be spotted at the local Tim Horton’s enjoying the company of many friends and family. We take comfort knowing they are now reunited together forever.
Again, the family would like to give a special thank you to all the residents of South Country Villa where Ben and Esther enjoyed the company of so many wonderful friends and the staff at Haven View Lodge assisted living where mom spent the last four years of her life. We will forever be grateful for the care and love you showed to our beloved mother.
We are so proud of you Mom and will see you again!

1935 ~ ANTON DIRK ~ 2022

Anton Dirk (Papa Tony) passed away in Medicine Hat peacefully in his sleep February 23, 2022 at the age of 87. He was predeceased by his wife Rose and two grandsons Jason Miller and Ryan Beck, and is lovingly remembered by his children Larry (Glenny) Dirk, Donna (Vern) Arnold, Arlene (Betty) Sequoia, Darwin (Lori) Dirk and Deanna (Scott) Peslari, along with several grandchildren and great grandchildren whom he adored.
Dad was born in Prelate, Saskatchewan and grew up on the family farms in Empress, Alberta and Rutland, BC. He later went on to graduate from Calgary SAIT as a mechanic, before moving back home to help his parents run the family farm, garage and pool hall in Empress, where he met the love of his life, Rose. Dad happily adopted her four children and went on to add one more to the family. Later they relocated to Medicine Hat, where they ran the Black and White truck stop and dad was employed at Dom Glass in Redcliff. The family also moved to Pincher Creek to operate the Gulf station, before returning to Medicine Hat to run the Hat Motel and where dad worked at BATUS as a mechanic until his retirement.
Dad enjoyed all sorts of activities, such as family campouts, baseball, swimming, skating, fishing and water skiing, but his big passion was snow skiing and in his late 50’s snowboarding. He took many trips to the ski hills, often accompanied by one of his grandchildren. For his 80th birthday he traveled on his own to Bali to visit his oldest grandson Jason, and for years praised it as the trip of a lifetime! Dad always loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and you would often find him watching a hockey game or some other event the kids were involved in.
After retiring, Dad and Mom moved to Redcliff where they stayed during the winter months, but during the summertime you could find them camping first at Rattlesnake then later at Cavan Lake, where they eventually took over as caretakers for a number of years. After Mom passed away, Dad stayed on as caretaker at the lake, but still managed to sneak in a few casino trips with family and friends. Dad was a very social guy and loved talking and visiting with everyone he met, and he always had a story to share. He will be happily remembered by everyone that knew him, especially for his smile and stories.
Please join us to remember Papa Tony. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Thursday, March 3, 2022 at 2:30 p.m. with Life Celebrant, David Townsend. The service will be live streamed, and family and friends who are unable to attend are invited to watch the service by searching for the Pattison Funeral Home Youtube page. 1940 ~ BRUNO MITZNER ~ 2022

“The Morning After”
Just how do I go on without you? Impossible without God. He made you Bruno; you belong to him. For your life has not ended-your life has changed from physical with us to spiritual with God. Yesterday I prayed as Layni sang you so quietly into heaven. With Jesus waiting for you, was your father, Alfred Mitzner; your mother, Ida (Wendland) Mitzner; our very special Janice Margaret-Ann Lyon; in-laws, Bennie Parasynchuk, Margaret (Stappler) Parasynchuk. You are survived by two brothers, Armin (Gerlinda) Mitzner and Harry (Janet) Mitzner; three stepsons, Rick, Elvis, and Mike Lyon; four grandchildren, Dawn, Dalayni, Paris, and Bransyn Lyon (You were adored by them). I, Leona Parasynchuk Mitzner, had the privilege to be your wife for 25 years. Also surviving is one brother-in-law, Richard (Teresa) Parasynchuk. A special thank you to brother, Armin Mitzner, for all of the time and care you gave to Bruno. He loved your visits. I hope I’m telling this next part correctly as Bruno told me. Bruno was born near Lodz, Poland on October 20, 1940, to parents, Ida and Alfred Mitzner. Ida looked after the family as Alfred and two brothers were in a concentration camp. Alfred and one brother made it home alive. Everything they owned was taken away including citizenship. They were given one room in the house to live in. A few years later, the family spent two weeks held on a train at the West German border. Armed soldiers took Bruno’s dad every morning. Finally, they were let into West Germany. In 1954, they decided to come to Canada. They landed in Quebec and travelled the great expanse of the Canadian prairie to Redcliff, Alberta. “What have we done?” But they worked hard and built a beautiful home. An opportunity came to purchase Sunalta Green Houses next to the Medalta Potteries, so they moved to Medicine Hat. Bruno became a journeymen carpenter. Later he became owner and operator of Sunalta. On December 31, 1995, he met Leona Parasynchuk and they married October 12, 1996. A true love match…Bruno, you fill my heart forever! They raised two grandchildren from babies to adults, they filled Bruno’s life. A private family graveside has taken place. A recording of the graveside can be found on http://www.saamis.com by going to the obituary page and selecting Bruno’s photo, then selecting the livestream/ photos page and selecting “watch webcast”. Condolences may be sent through http://www.saamis.com or to condolences@saamis.com subject heading Bruno Mitzner. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Bruno’s memory can be made to the children’s or pet charity of your choosing. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to
