1921 – MARTIN SCHLINKER – 2021

Martin Schlinker passed away on October 19, 2021, 11 days before his 100th birthday; beloved husband for 63 years of the late Maureen Schlinker (nee Garlough). He leaves to cherish his memory three children, Brian (Norma) Schlinker, Brenda Hornung, Mark Schlinker; seven grandchildren, Rhonda (Todd) Olson, Barry Schlinker (Alma Gacias), Christine (Mark) Stock, Kelly Hornung, Laura Hornung, Brandon Schlinker, Breanna Schlinker (Tyson Canning); nine great- grandchildren, Cameron Stock (Dana Cook), Courtney Stock (Tanner Dynes), Connor Stock, Cassidy Stock, Cole Olson, Kinley Olson, Katelyn Olson, Sawyer Hornung and Hudson Schlinker. Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Masks are mandatory. A private family funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Friday, October 22, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. with The Rev. Dr. David Carter officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. Due to the restrictions brought forward by the Chief Medical Officer of Health, indoor public gatherings are to be kept to 50 people. The service will be live streamed, and family and friends who are unable to attend are invited to watch the service by searching for the Pattison Funeral Home Youtube page. The video will go live 10 minutes prior to service time and will remain on the youtube page for future viewing. 1931 ~ LORNA PHAFF ~ 2021

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Lorna Evelyn Phaff on Thursday, September 30th, 2021 at the age of 90 years. Lorna is lovingly remembered by her sons, Kenneth (Cindy) and Stephen (Debra); her four grandchildren, Bryce (Nazanin), Brianne (Nick), Colin (Cheryl), and Wyatt (Jennifer); five great-grandchildren, Myah, Lawson, Leila, Magnus and Mina. Lorna was predeceased by her husband, Reginald “Reg” in February 2014; parents, Winifred and Percy Pender; siblings, Hugh Pender, Robert Pender, Ann Douglas and special cousins, Marj and Alice Middleton. Lorna was born in North Battleford, SK on April 5, 1931 but spent the majority of her life in Medicine Hat and the Irvine area. Lorna and Reg were married in 1952 and they raised their two sons in Medicine Hat while she worked as a secretary. Reg and Lorna purchased a ranch near Maple Creek where they started raising Charolais cattle. Eventually they purchased what would become the P Bar 3 Charolais Ranch in 1971 located near Irvine, AB. This ranch became one of the most successful purebred Charolais cattle operations in Canada. To this day, P Bar 3 genetics can be found throughout North America and Europe. Lorna and Reg retired to Medicine Hat in 1997. In their retirement years, they enjoyed many trips abroad. Lorna spent many enjoyable hours tending her many gardens and cultivating her outdoor flowers and indoor violets. Lorna loved doing crafts and produced many lovely petit point and cross-stitch pictures over the years. She also made special Christmas ornaments for her grandchildren every year. In her later years, Lorna lived at Chinook Village from 2015 to 2020 and then moved to the Good Samaritan South Ridge Village in February 2020. Lorna’s family would like to acknowledge and thank all of the nurses and staff at the Good Samaritan’s for their dedication and support over Lorna’s last few months. The graveside service will be held at Saamis Prairie View Cemetery, on October 22, 2021 at 11:00 am . Lorna “Lorraine” Schwabe passed away on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at the age of 87 years, beloved wife of Leonard Schwabe of Medicine Hat. She also leaves to cherish her memory three children, Lorraine Mary Louise “Lou” Haag, Leonard Benjamin Sidney “Sid” Schwabe (Tracy Laubenstein), and Rhonoda Lee “Ronnie” (Taras) Melnyczuk; six grandchildren, Lindsey (Lonnie) Gebhart, Nikki (Denny) O’Connor, A.J. Schwabe, Melory (Matty) Byers, Megan Melnyczuk (Greg Heukshorst), and Wasyl Melnyczuk; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Myron (Helen) Smith as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, Olga and Lorne Smith; and one son-in-law Dennis Haag. 1951 ~ LINDA WILLIAMS (GEE) ~ 2021

Linda Jane Williams of Medicine Hat passed away on Friday, July 23rd, 2021 at the age of 70 years. Linda leaves to cherish her memory her son, Mason (Pam) Williams; grandchildren, Caiya Williams and Elyse Williams; nephew, Cameron; niece, Carmen; brother-in-law, Kevin Jersey; special friend, Sherry Aadland; and numerous cousins and friends. Linda was predeceased by her parents, Irv Gee and Joyce Massong; and sister, Dianne Jersey. Linda was a strong-willed and driven woman who fulfilled the role of both mother and father to her only son and she always provided a loving and warm home. She was a homemaker in every sense of the word. In her later years she loved to go to the thrift shops or spend time with her granddaughters shopping or swimming at the local pool. Linda was a caring and giving women who touched many lives and will be deeply missed by all those who knew her. EDNA PIERCE

1934 – 2021

Our mom, Edna Pierce of Medicine Hat, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 17, 2021. She was nearly 87 years old. Edna was born at home to Pate and Elda Rader in Alabama. She grew up in a close-knit family with nine siblings. At age 19, she met the love of her life and they were married three months later. They moved from Alabama to Colorado, and later to Arkansas which led to Kentucky. In the late 1960’s, they decided to immigrate to Alberta, Canada with their four children. Later Mom went to work as a department store sales associate and then as a cash office clerk. While she enjoyed cooking southern food, sewing, camping and gardening; her family (including pets) were the most important thing in her life. Edna was predeceased by her husband, Loren; sons, John and Mark as well as daughters-in-law, Shirley and Cathy. She is survived by her two daughters: Margaret (Glen) and Elizabeth (Bob); grandchildren, Kevin, Israel, Donavan (Caroline), Vanessa (Bryce), Kevin (Keara), Cameron (Martie), Sarah (Aaron) and Joel; 19 great-grandchildren; sister, Betty, sisters-in-law Elizabeth, Joann, and Gayle as well as her brothers-in-law, Don (Elizabeth) and Jimmy (Janette). A private memorial will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, we request memorial donations be made to the Parkinson Association of Alberta or to the Good Samaritan Society.
