1973 ~ MARSHALL KING ~ 2021

It is with great sadness that the family of Marshall King announces his passing on July 14, 2021. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Charlene; 3 children, Johnathon, Tyler (Amanda) and Alyssa; granddaughter, Lillie; brother and sister, Travis King and Shari Cameron, of Rocky Mountain House; in-laws, Robert and Shirley Oates as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Marshall had many friends but Ken (Connie) Melnyk and John (Mary) Kahl developed a close and very special relationship with both Charlene and Marshall. Marshall was predeceased by his parents, John and Lorraine King in Ontario, brother, Jason and his son Ryan at childbirth. Marshall was born in Belleville, Ontario on July 27, 1973. He grew up in Wooler, Ontario, where he lived until 1992, he then moved to Medicine Hat. Shortly after moving here he met the love of his life, Charlene and were married July 20, 1998. They were as much in love the day he left this world (too early) as the day they were married. Marshall will always be remembered for his big heart and was always there to lend a helping hand when needed. He was very well known as a jack of all trades and was very good at it all. There was always a fire and BBQ in the back yard, or at Rattlesnake where a lot of good times were had. There will be a celebration of life for Marshall at a later date this summer. In lieu flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice in Marshall’s name. Condolences may be sent to condolences@saamis.com subject heading Marshall King. Funeral arrangements by

CLAYTON WILLIAM CAMPBELL

July 5, 1945 – February 17, 2021

Clay passed away in Smithers in February after a battle with cancer. Clay was born and raised on Box-S Ranch in Buffalo, Alberta. He is survived by his two sons, Russell in Japan, Randy of Coquitlam and his brother Al of Surrey. He attended school in Medicine Hat and received Bachelors and Masters degrees from Montana State University in Bozeman. He began a PhD program at the University of Saskatchewan but before completion accepted the newly created position of Beef Cattle Specialist for the BC Ministry of Agriculture based in Kamloops.

After several years with the Ministry Clay moved on to other pursuits. He established Paradigm Resources Ltd. based in Merritt BC and completed a large number of consulting projects on cattle and range throughout BC. He partnered with Alf Bawtree on many projects including co-editing the Rangeland Handbook for BC in 1998.

Over the years Clay did a large amount of work related to the BC Beef Industry. He worked on many projects for the BC Cattleman’s Association including the establishment of the Wild Predator Loss, Compensation, and Control Program (WPLCCP). This was a unique program and required a great deal of skill to work with the government officials and ranchers to develop a program that was acceptable to both groups.

Clay was very active in the BC Institute of Agrologists and the Society for Range Management.

Clay made a great contribution to the beef industry of BC and was well respected by ranchers, his colleagues and many friends. His love of cattle, horses, rodeo and the environment lead to many adventures over the years.
