Esme Crowther of Medicine Hat, passed away on Sunday, March 21st, 2021 at the age of 93 years. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Ken (Theresa) Crowther, Nadine (Patrick) Dougherty, Barry (Linda) Crowther, and Ray (Yvonne) Crowther; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. 1931 ~ VICTOR SKYE ~ 2021

Victor George Skye of Medicine Hat, passed away on Thursday, March 18th, 2021 at the age of 89 years. Victor leaves to cherish his memory his daughters, Alice Hauck, Donna (Dale) Cove; son, Doug (Marcey) Skye; grandchildren, Katrina (Art) Hauck-Miller, Colin Hauck, Eli Cove, Angela Cove, Jade Skye; great grandchildren, Lucas, Xan and Aria; sister, Thersa Oddan as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Victor was predeceased by his wife, Donna; parents, George and Natalie Sky; son-in-law, Doug Hauck; sisters, Mary Elliott, Jesse Hawthorne and Rose Joseph; friend; Laura Schneider. Victor survived the 30’s on the farm near Maple Creek, SK. He often told stories of running a trap line and snaring wild rabbit for extra income and food. He practiced his skills as a gardener, canner and fisherman for many years. He left the farm and began his career for CP Rail in 1949. His jobs ranged from shoveling coal, to rail gang supervisor and signal maintainer. Victor and his family lived in many southern Alberta and BC communities over the years including Medicine Hat, Irvine, Blairmore and Field. Victor retired in Medicine Hat in 1988. He had a passion for travel. He and his siblings visited Lithuania and USSR while the Iron Curtain stood so they could meet their many cousins from the old country. Victor enjoyed loading his family in a truck and camper and heading south all the way to Mexico, Yellowstone, Disneyland and many sites along the way. After retirement Victor would regularly head south with his friends so they could escape the cold and enjoy the country music shows and night life in Las Vegas. Victor was a skilled carpenter, electrician, plumber, painter, drywaller and upholsterer. He owned and maintained a four unit apartment until well into his 80’s. We will miss you Dad! Rest in peace. Thomas Daniel Dovichak of Medicine Hat passed away peacefully after a battle with cancer on Thursday, March 25, 2021 at the age of 62 years, beloved husband of Tatiana Dovichak. He also leaves to cherish his memory his children, Jessica (Adam) Ziegler and Adam (Sharrese) Dovichak; two grandchildren, Harlow and Lincoln. 1963 ~ 2021

 

Andrea Dawn Mason passed away peacefully at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital with her son, Taylor by her side, on Thursday, March 18, 2021, at the age of 58 years. Along with her son, Taylor Kovitch, Andrea’s memory will forever be cherished by her mother, Yurena Holma; brothers, Carey (Glenda) Kovitch and Aaron (Amanda) Holma; nieces and nephews, Kalen, Kendall, Karissa, Keagen, Aidyn and Ella; uncle, Bill (Gail) Kovitch; aunts, Shirley Bedford and Dorothy Roberts as well as numerous cousins and many friends. Andrea was predeceased by her son, Arlen Mason; father, Hilbert Kovitch; step-father, Barry Holma; aunts, Shirle (Earl) Blum, Phyllis (Jim) Harms and uncles, Eldon Bedford and Harvey Roberts as well as cousins, Marlin Kovitch and Marcie Roberts. Andrea was born in Kindersley, SK., and lived her childhood years in Alsask, White Bear and Young, SK. She was a talented hairstylist who eventually settled down in Medicine Hat where she raised her family. Andrea loved art, drawing, music, singing, dancing and karaoke. Rumour has it, she also loved to play bingo, especially when she hit the big one on a balls ticket… ‘BINGO’. Andrea was absolutely charming, however, could be very head strong and perhaps a little rebellious. She will be missed by her family and friends and left us way too soon. A private service is planned for a later date. Rachelle Anne Pratt was called home on Saturday, March 20, 2021, at the age of 35 years. She is now safe in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She is survived by her parents, Richard and Corinne Pratt, her beautiful daughter, Lilah and her loving sister, Janay. RENA MALDANER

1951 – 2021

Rena May Maldaner was born to Karl and Jean Maldaner on May 4, 1951. After a short illness, Rena passed peacefully from us on March 23, 2021.

Rena attended special schools in Medicine Hat and Lethbridge while living with caring families and in group homes.

Rena loved her family, babies, shopping, kittens, dogs, and birthdays, especially her own. It was her job in the last few years to shop for perfect gifts for her great nieces and nephews. Thank you to all of her caregivers and dayworkers who helped make Rena’s life easier and brighter.

Rena was predeceased by sister Ruthie in 1940, her father in 1987, her mother in 2003, and brother Earl in 1997. She leaves behind her brothers: John (Rena), David (Nan), Larry (Shelley), Brian (Barbara), Dean (Eunice), sister Lois (Doug Harrowing), sister-in-law Sally, twenty-nine nieces and nephews and a goodly amount of great nieces and nephews in Canada, Australia, and the Philippines, and a whole lot of cousins.

Her roommates, Jeanie and Alyssa, caregivers, and dear friend Alex will miss her.

Our family appreciates the dedication and compassion of the nurses and doctors of 4C at Chinook Regional Hospital.

A family Graveside Service was held in Coaldale on March 25, 2021, with Reverend Erin Phillips officiating.
