RODNEY ALLIN SCHICK

May 12, 1942 ~ February 12th, 2021

Rodney Schick, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and professional accountant passed peacefully at home on Friday, February 12, 2021 surrounded by his beloved wife, daughters and dog, Jazzy.
Our family, Eileen and Andrea, and their partners, Alex and Kevin, and our grandchildren, Oliva, Joshua, Grayson, Jaxon and Rya will hold him in their hearts forever. His sister, Sharon Batiuk from Medicine Hat survives him, and he is predeceased by his parents, Elsie, Edgar and brother, Redge from Burstall, Sask.
More than his many accomplishments as a partner in Davis, Daignault & Schick for 36 years, it was his relationships he shared with others which brought meaning to his life. He was a wonderful, gentle, and kind man, who led a full and happy life.
Rod married his wife Glenys in 1966 and they had 54 years of marriage together. Glenys said he was the best support in her life. They spent many wonderful years in retirement in Mexico, where he loved the warmth, friends, and good times they had together.
Rod's thoughtful approach to life, his honesty and great sense of humour brought many friends into his life. As a young man, he excelled in curling, baseball and won a record in Javelin throwing. He attended Luther College in Regina followed by University of Saskatchewan, with a Bachelor of Commerce degree, and then articled to become a CA.
He will always be remembered for his generosity, kindness and resilience during COVID 2020. He suffered from a major heart attack in March 2020 and received a terminal cancer diagnosis on November 23, 2020. His suffering during this year and hospital stays were very difficult for him and his loved ones. While he felt deep despair, he continued to show love, kindness and graciousness.
Rod has requested no Funeral Service and his family will have a dinner together when COVID is over to celebrate his life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rod’s memory to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, Calgary Office.
