WILLIAM HORST SEIFRIED

2020
It is with great sadness, that we announce that Willi Seifried passed away on December 25, 2020. Willi was born in Barenwalde, Schlochau, Germany. As a young child during the war, and with borders rapidly changing, Willi’s family migrated and resettled in Bentelor/Langenberg, Germany, in 1945. Despite growing up during a terrible war, with many hardships, Willi always spoke fondly of his earliest childhood memories, growing up on the family farm with his younger siblings, and, of the many childhood adventures shared with many cousins, all living nearby. Willi emigrated to Canada with his family in 1953, landing in Quebec and making their way by train, to Medicine Hat, Alberta, where the family settled and began a new life. Here Willi worked alongside family members initially at Medalta Pottery, then the CPR, and in 1957 began working for the City of Medicine Hat, until his retirement in June 1990. In addition to his full-time job, Willi also pursued a passion for working on the land, by operating a hobby farm with cattle, as well as hobby beekeeping for many years. William married Lilly Eichele in September 1959, and the two of them have enjoyed life’s goodness as well as enduring sorrows, always together, for the past 61 years. William will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Doris (Tim) Sidlick; brothers, Gunther Seifried (Emma) and Heintz Seifried (Susan); brother-in-law, Jakob Eichele; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Willi was predeceased by his beloved wife, Lilly and son, Randy; parents, Daniel and Elisabeth Seifried; sister, Hilda Ledarney; brother-in-law, Mike Ledarney; and sister-in-law, Elfrieda Eichele. The family wishes to extend a big thank you to all the wonderful staff at the Riverview Long Term Care Home, Meadowlands Retirement Residence, and the Home Care and Palliative Nurses for the compassion, kindness and care they have provided these past few years. A private family service will take place at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1 DUNMORE ROAD SE, Medicine Hat, AB T1A 3Z5. FRANK McCONVILLE

July 20, 1958 ~ December 22, 2020

Francis ‘Frank’ Patrick McConville passed away in Medicine Hat on Tuesday, December 22, 2020. Frank was born on July 20, 1958, in Milton, Ontario, the day man landed on the moon (as he always reminded us). He will always be remembered by his loving family: sisters, Trish (Brian) Carr, Liz (Wayne) Horb, Karen (Walter) McConville; brother, Jim (Jenn) McConville; all of his “special” nieces and nephews and their families; aunts, uncles and cousins both in Canada and in Scotland; his step- grandchildren, whom he loved immensely, Cody and Cameron Schmidt and many good friends and neighbours both here and in California. He was predeceased by his Mum and Dad, Mary and James McConville; his brother, Danny in 1992 and a sister, Michele in 2009.
Frank enjoyed taking care of the family swimming pool in Oakville, Ontario. He loved watching all of his nieces and nephews in the pool with “Crocky”. Frank always watched and rooted for his beloved Toronto Maple Leafs while waiting ‘patiently’ for his team to win the Stanley Cup…again. He got Brian and Trish hooked on watching the Blue Jays games as well. Frank loved driving his quad with his grandchildren and scooting them around town on his scooter. For the last four years, he lived with Brian and Trish in Medicine Hat. He loved going for rides on his scooter with Molly, his faithful companion, running along beside him. He loved Molly and playing with the “Kitty-Cato” Sissy. Frank spent three winters at Sunbeam Lake in California. He made some great friends and was able to ride around the complex. He even had a ride in a sand-rail car! His legs eventually were no longer able to hold him up but he was always positive and thanked the Good Lord that he was able to walk for 30 years after his surgery. Frank was such a blessing to all but especially to Brian and Trish these last four years. He was their ray of sunshine!

‘Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest In peace.’
