1921 ~ EVA FINDLAY ~ 2020

Eva Findlay of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late Telford Findlay, passed away on Monday, November 9th, 2020 at the age of 99 years. Eva leaves to cherish her memory her children, Colleen (Clarence) Haaf, Colette (Murray) Mayer, and Merlin (Pat) Findlay; grandchildren, Matt (Laura) Haaf, Jessica (Clay) Montoya and Kristopher Mayer; great-grandchildren, Kingston and Grayson Haaf and Nova and Clove Montoya; brother, Otto Schäfer; sister, Alma Zerr; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Eva was predeceased by her husband, Telford, parents, Christian and Ludwica Schäfer; four brothers; and two sisters. A private family graveside will take place on Monday, November 16th, 2020 at Hillside Cemetery with Deacon Terry Olson officiating. Mom was very devoted to her family. Her Grandchildren and later Great grandchildren brought her special joy. She spent countless hours in her garden tending her flowers and raspberries. She was an exceptional cook and her cabbage rolls and buns were family favorites. Mom also enjoyed sewing and we all cherish the beautiful quilts she made. For the past few years Mom was a resident at Riverview care center. She was often found roaming the halls in her wheelchair checking on everyone. Mom was well cared for there. She loved all her "girls" and they loved her back. Mom your bright blue eyes, feisty spirit and beautiful smile will be missed by all. Terry Empey of Medicine Hat, AB passed away on November 7, 2020 at the age of 62 years. Terry leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Helen; parents, Kenneth and Beverly Empey; son, Kurt (Sara) Empey; daughter, Ashley (Mark) Sjolie; grandson, Noah Sjolie; brother, Randy (Lori) Empey; brother-in-law, John (Darlene) Lech; mother-in-law, Alma Lech; and numerous in-laws, friends, nieces and nephews. Terry was predeceased by one brother, Wayne Empey. Terry was unable to work since 2007 due to declining health but still loved to play board games and checkers with Alma, cards with his parents, especially 31 and spending time with his grandson, Noah. Terry also loved his beloved cat Lacey. We love you Terry. DR. FLORENCE MELCHIOR

1956 ~ 2020

Florence passed away at St. Joseph’s Home – Carmel Hospice in Medicine Hat on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, at the age of 64 years. She is survived by her beloved son, Logan MacDougall; precious grandchildren, Kai and Zoe; eleven siblings, Richard, Floyd, Edith, Marie, Frank, John, Betty, Michael, Ron, Lorraine and Greg as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Florence will also be remembered by her nursing colleagues and the former RN students who passed through her classes. She was predeceased by her parents, Margaret (nee Benkendorf) and Lawrence Melchior and one sister, Millie Watson. The family would like to thank Dr. Cathy Horsman, RN Danette and HCA’s Jamie and Debbie from Home Care for many years of care and to many good neighbours and friends: Betty and Johnnie Dyck, Mary Jean Thompson, Susan Sexsmith and Deacon Terry Olson and his wife Theresa.
