1961 ~ PHYLLIS McKENZIE ~ 2020

Phyllis Irene Theresa McKenzie of Medicine Hat, passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at the age of 58 years. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at 1:00 p.m.
Due to restrictions in place regarding COVID- 19 from the Chief Medical Officer of Health – funeral services are now limited to no more than 100 attendees including family and funeral home staff. Family and Friends are invited to remotely attend any public funeral service at our facility through live streaming on our Facebook page – Pattison Funeral Home and Crematorium.

Interment will take place in the Hillcrest Cemetery at Shaunavon, Saskatchewan on a later date. In lieu of flowers, enjoy a beer and celebrate your fond memories of Phyllis. CAROL JEANETTE KRYSIAK

January 16, 1946 ~ June 19, 2020

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family announces the   passing of Carol Jeanette Krysiak on Friday, June 19, 2020, at the age of 74 years. Carol leaves to cherish her memory her dear husband and soulmate, Walter as well as two daughters, Cathy (Jason) Bachmier and their children, Jaylin (Brayden) and Tyler; Karen (Kelly) Byam and their children, Kaitlyn and Christopher. Carol is also survived by her brother, Jim (Doreen) Schank and their children, Kim, Carrie, Jason and families; brother-in-law, Elmer Stabler and family; sisters-in-law, Linda Barrand and family, Susan Schank and    family, Heiki Unser and family and Christel (Frank) Carpenter and family. Carol also leaves to cherish fond memories to Adam Kienzle who she loved like her own son. Carol was predeceased by her parents, Sam and Frieda Schank; sisters, Evelyn, Dorothy and Pat; brothers, Bob and Terry and    mother and father-in-law, Frieda and Ray Beckner. Carol was born in Medicine Hat on January 16, 1946, the youngest daughter of seven siblings. She attended school and graduated in 1966 from Medicine Hat High School. Carol married the love of her life, Walter Krysiak on November 10, 1971, in Medicine Hat. They moved to Bow Island where they raised their two    daughters and started their own life as a loving, devoted family. Carol spent most of her life as a caring and compassionate stay at home wife and mother. Once her daughters graduated from high school, Carol started working at IGA in Bow Island where she worked for nine years. Carol enjoyed collecting stamps and coins, tending to her garden and flowers and decorating inside and out for every holiday. One of Carol’s greatest pleasures was having coffee in the morning with her “coffee ladies,” where they would share stories about each other’s grandkids and special events happening in their lives. Community spirit was very important to Carol. She was an active member with the Bow Island Legion where in 2014 she received her Life Membership. In 2008, she was honoured by the Town of Bow Island where she was   awarded Volunteer of the Year for her outstanding contributions and dedication to many community committees. Carol was proud of many things, but nothing could compare to how proud she was of her four grandchildren. She took great pride in watching all of their sporting and school events. No matter how big or small, she was proud of all their accomplishments and adored how they have all grown up to be respectful young adults. There was always a special place in her heart for her loyal companion, Koda; who will miss her cuddles at night. She will be truly missed by all that knew her. The family would like to extend a heartful thank you to all the doctors, nurses and EMS staff that took great care of her during her illness. A private family  celebration of Carol’s life will be held on Friday, June 26, 2020, at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901-13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat. CLAUDETTE MARKUSSON

1977 ~ 2020

While in the comfort of her home and surrounded by family, Claudette Monique Markusson (nee Cheret) beloved wife of Jeffrey John Markusson and mother to Ben (13), Hannah (11) and Everleigh (9), peacefully passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2020, at the age of 43 years. Along with Jeff and their children, left to cherish Claudette’s memory is her mother, Nancy Jurgeleit; father, Armand Cheret; brother, JP (Bernadette) Cheret and their children, Wayland and Madison; grandmother, Leona Cheret-Paprocky;  Jeff’s parents, Glen (Linda) Markusson; sisters-in-law, Connie Kentz (Craig, Brooke, Bailey) and Paula (Lee) Smith (Jenna, Gavin, Samantha). Claudette was born and raised in Medicine Hat. She graduated from Medicine Hat High School and    furthered her education at the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Education degree. Claudette married Jeff on August 7, 1999, in Medicine Hat where they settled and raised their family. Claudette loved playing basketball and soccer and excelled in both growing up. She eventually became a very vocal supporter of her kids’ sporting events. Being a mom to her three beloved children brought the most joy to Claudette; they were her pride and joy. She is lovingly remembered by family, friends and all those whose lives she touched by her kindness and caring nature, especially by her infectious laugh.  By invitation, the family will celebrate Claudette’s life with a Private Funeral Service at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel on Thursday, June 25, 2020, with Pastor Mike Landry officiating.  If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Claudette’s name may be made directly to Life Discipleship Ministries, 34 Hudson Crescent N.E., Medicine Hat, Alberta   T1C 1Z6.
