1932 ~ HELEN HEPFNER ~ 2020

Helen Hepfner of Medicine Hat passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2020, at the age of 87 years, beloved wife of the late Tony Hepfner. Helen was born on October 5, 1932 in Prelate, Saskatchewan. On October 26, 1950 she married Tony Hepfner. She is survived by one son, Gary (Karen); two grandchildren Tamara and Willis; daughter-in-law Terry Hepfner (Scott Little) and many dedicated and loving friends. She was predeceased by her husband Tony on February 24, 2020 and one son Wayne in 2013. Helen volunteered at Medicine Hat Regional Hospital for over 28 years as well at the Good Samaritan Society. The funeral mass for invited family will be celebrated in St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Tomy Manjaly officiating and interment will take place at the Hillside Cemetery.
Due to restrictions in place regarding COVID- 19 from the Chief Medical Officer of Health – funeral services are now limited to no more than 15 attendees including family.

1935 ~ ANNA LIPPERT ~ 2020

It is with heavy hearts that we the family of Anna Maria Lippert must say good bye. Anna past away suddenly on Saturday, May 9, 2020 at the age of 84 years, beloved wife of the late Emil Lippert. She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Ronnie (Norma) Lippert and Larry (Rita) Lippert; five great grandchildren, Brandie (Mark) Kruse, Ricky Lippert, Lindsay (Jay) Mellen, Regan (Maddie) Lippert and Andrea (Tyler) Stahl; five great grandchildren, Emily, Luke, Zac, Livia and Aiden; her brother, Bill (Janet) Albrecht; two sisters, Irene Nitz and Phyllis Albrecht as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Gottlieb and Lydia Albrecht and her husband Emil on November 4, 2008. Anna was born on August 18, 1935. On December 12,1952 she married the love of her life Emil Lippert. They lived with his parents for a year then moved west of Hilda to farm. After renting for four years they packed up and moved to the Burstall area. Here they built up their legacy in farming. Anna was always a firm believer in hard work. She had a love for the land and was known as dad’s shadow, wherever dad was mom was right behind him. In 1967, they made the big move, building their own home they made the move to the town of Burstall. Emil continued to farm along with his two sons and this was when Anna felt she was no longer needed as the “gopher” (go for this and go for that) and took up employment at the local post office as postmistress. Here she worked for eight years then decided this was long enough and retired. Having more time on her hands she once again picked up the job as a fourth wheel on the farm, realizing her assistance was no longer needed she finally found her place at home. Mom loved to walk, rain, snow or sleet, you were guaranteed to see mom and her group of friends out on their daily walk of the town, the Happy Walkers. At times on these walks mom would notice other people’s yards and took great interest in what was growing, if she really liked the plant she would snitch a leaf or a stem, take it home put it in water watch it sprout and voila she had her plant. Another great past time mom loved to do was sew. She was never known to buy a pattern, she would sit with the Eatons catalogue find what she liked got the material sat down and would whip that outfit up in a day or two. Lastly, mom could bake up a storm, her buns and meat pockets were the best all around. When told how good they tasted she would say “oh they’re not that good.” Anna was a very quiet, modest person. Never taking credit for her abilities or her skills. Rarely did she voice her opinion on anything, but when she did, it was well thought out and logic was always in play and you listened. In 1996, dad and mom both realized that they were no longer required for duty on the farm, they decided it was time to leave the farming to the boys and moved on up to Medicine Hat. Here they loved to travel mainly to Las Vegas. Taking the odd trip elsewhere either the two of them or with friends. After Emil past away mom sold their home and moved into Chinook and continued to go on her daily walks. When her sister Irene retired and moved into Chinook she was in her glory. She once said “after being apart for nearly 50 years we are finally together” she was so happy. These two were inseparable, they shopped together, played scrabble together, went to social functions together, everything was done together. Due to the corona virus family members were unable to be byAnna’s side, so the family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the nurses and doctors on the fourth floor of the Medicine Hat Hospital for all their assistance, help and care that they aided in mom’s last days. Once again we thank you with our whole hearts to all that were involved in our time of helplessness. The funeral service will be held for immediate family only (due to COVID-19 restrictions) in the PATTISON Chapel on Friday, May 15, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. James C. Bredeson officiating and interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. 1993 ~ NICOLAS "NICK" HILL ~ 2020

It is with broken hearts we announce the sudden passing of our beloved son and brother, Nick. He is no longer sad and confused; he was imprisoned in a “powerful darkness.” He is flying with the angels now. Nick was pre-deceased by his grandfather Neil Campbell and grandparents Leonard and Helen Hill. Nick is survived by his most loyal and closest companion golden retriever Bailey, his mother and father, Sandra and Doug, brother Morgan (Steph), sister Kirsten (Paul), grandma and grandpa, Elaine and Ken Hanson and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. We find strength in knowing that he is at peace and reconnected with his grandparents in Heaven. Nick was a caring soul and he touched the lives of many people. He had a smile that would light up a room and a determination like no one else. He enjoyed inline hockey, ice hockey, snow boarding and golfing. Nick had a deep passion for all animals, space and galaxy and photography. He was a loyal friend, a noble brother, a loving grandson, and a kind nephew and cousin. Nick had an admiration and a curiosity of his ancestry and the ancient world. He had a passion for reading and a passion for learning. He had an open, spiritual mind-set and was never afraid to try new things. He genuinely cared about others and was wise beyond his years. His infectious personality, his little laugh (he was all smiles), will be missed along with his unique way of making you think about life. We will miss him forever and always. Rest in P-E-A-C-E our beautiful boy. A celebration of Nick’s life will be held at a later date. BENNIE ARCHIE SACKMAN

September 22, 1940 – May 8, 2020
It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Bennie “Ben” Sackman of Lundbreck, AB on May 8, 2020. He was 79 years of age.
Ben was born in Medicine Hat, AB on September 22, 1940 to parents, Gottlieb and Linda Sackman. Along with his siblings, he was raised in a warm, nurturing home, and he grew up to be a kind, hard-working man. On February 20, 1960, Ben married Doreen Gosselin. The happy couple went on to be blessed with four wonderful children and forty-five years of marriage.
In August 2002, Ben and Doreen moved to the Crowsnest Pass, AB for their retirement which was realized after many years of camping and quadding in the area. Nothing made Ben happier than spending time with his family – every moment he spent with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren was deeply cherished. Ben will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Left to mourn his passing and celebrate his life is his friend, Maggie Hoffman of Coleman, AB; his sons, Stephen (Laurie) Sackman of Regina, SK and Tracey (Roxie) Sackman of Strathmore, AB; his grandchildren, Stephanie, Shalaine, Tyler, Shelby, Shauneen and Hunter; his great grandchildren, Jayden, Paisley and Racen; his brothers, Harvey (Ann) Sackman of Medicine Hat, AB, Roy (Eleanor) Sackman of Redcliff, AB, Cliff (Jessie) Sackman of Redcliff, AB and Stan (Lana) Sackman of Dunmore, AB; his sisters, Marge (Neil) Dieno of Medicine Hat, AB and Gladys (Jack) Strobel of Coaldale, AB; as well as his extended family and many friends.
He was predeceased by his wife, Doreen; his parents, Gottlieb and Linda Sackman; his son, Doug; and his daughter, Wanda.

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Francisca Rosa-Flores announce her passing in Medicine Hat on Saturday, May 9, 2020, at the age of 84 years. She was born in El Salvador, a daughter to Jesus and Luisa Rosa. Francisca was a strong, positive, loving and caring woman who gratefully took on the roll of parent, grandmother and great- grandmother until the last day. Thank you God for giving us such a great woman; heaven has gained another Angel. The family wish to thank all those who loved Francisca and shared in her life. She will be greatly missed.
