1924 ~ EUPHEMIA GUCKERT ~ 2020

Euphemia “Fanny” Guckert of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late Jacob “Jack” Guckert, passed away at Masterpiece Southland Meadows on Sunday, March 1st, 2020 at the age of 95 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Elaine (Gordon) Parker, Elliot (Helen) Guckert, Neil (Shari) Guckert, and Connie (Brent) Miller; grandchildren, Tracey (Charles) Gerbrandt, Shannon (John) Carleton, Cameron (Christine) Parker, Rylee Guckert, Trevan (Lindsey) Guckert, Macinnon Guckert, Courtney Miller, and Brayden Miller; great- grandchildren, Dustin (Amy), Tiffany, Trisha, Bryanna, Sierra, Maisie; great-great grandson, Link; sister, Teresa “Teri” (Don) Taylor; sisters-in-law, Sally Wagner and Frances Wagner; and numerous nieces and nephews. Fanny was predeceased by her husband, Jack Guckert; son, Harvey Guckert; parents, Anton and Clara Wagner, grandson, Dillon Guckert; great-granddaughter, Morgan; great-grandson, Jason; and brothers, Frank Wagner, Rem Wagner, and Roy Wagner. Fanny was born near Prelate, SK on November 18th, 1924. She married Jack Guckert on November 23rd, 1943 and together they farmed and raised their family. Fanny loved to garden and took great pride in her flowers. She enjoyed music and dancing, playing softball, bowling and playing cards with friends and family. She loved to cook, making her favourite recipes from scratch. She would begin preparing and cooking days in advance for the arrival of friends and family for social and holiday gatherings. She was a member of both the Prelate Community Club and the Welcoming Group at Prelate. Fanny’s deep and ongoing faith in God motivated her to become an active member of the CWL in 1957. Fanny loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them whenever she could and she was especially fond of the time she was able to spend with her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, on Thursday, March 5th, 2020 from 6:00 to 6:55 pm or at HOLY FAMILY PARISH on Friday, March 6th, 2020 from 10:00 to 10:55 a.m. Vigil Rites (Prayers) will be held at SAAMIS MEMORIAL CHAPEL on Thursday, March 5th, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at HOLY FAMILY PARISH, 1451 Strachan Road SE, Medicine Hat, AB on Friday, March 6th, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. with Father Vijaya Bathineni, Celebrant. Interment will follow in the Roman Catholic Section at Hillside Cemetery. Mr. Lawrence Sanford “Lawrie” Kvist of Medicine Hat, beloved husband of Patsy Kvist, passed away on Saturday, February 22nd, 2020 at the age of 85 years. 1939 ~ JEAN GIESLER ~ 2020

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Jean Giesler announces her peaceful passing at the age of 80 years, on February 25th, 2020, after suffering a stroke on February 23rd, 2020. She will be deeply missed by many friends and family that loved her dearly. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Lee Ann Lenko; brothers, Vern (Shirley) Bitz and John Bitz; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husbands, Paul Lenko and Alfred Giesler; parents, Roy and Mary Bitz; seven siblings; and her companion in life, Dale Hougestol. She also was predeceased by her special pets (dogs) that she spoiled and absolutely loved; Sam, Trixie, Coco and Muffy. Jean was born on August 9th, 1939, the daughter of two wonderful parents. She was one of ten children that grew up in a fun and loving household. She loved baseball, camping, gardening, and a good card game. Her good nature and fun- loving spirit made her easy to love and fun to be with. She had a smile and a laugh that would light up a room. She loved all her family dearly and enjoyed every moment she spent with them. Her family invites you to attend and celebrate her amazing life. The memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 7th, 2020 at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, Medicine Hat at 10:00 a.m. with Father Vijaya Bathineni, Celebrant. 1979 ~ 2020

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Travis James Baker announce his passing in Medicine Hat on Monday, February 24, 2020, at the age of 40 years. Travis was born and raised in Medicine Hat where he remained and called home. He enjoyed travelling, cooking, cars and driving, being with friends and helping people. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his boys – his boys were his world! Travis will be remembered by his two boys, Kaiden and Jasper; his mom, Carol; grandma Baker, “my auntie” Kathy; special friend, Karen; Jasper’s mother, Deb; pet dog, Kory and his friends. He was predeceased by his grandpa Baker and spouse, Tanya (Kaiden’s mother).
