1923 ~ THELMA McLUHAN ~ 2019

Thelma McLuhan of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late John McLuhan, passed away on Wednesday, October 23rd, 2019 at the age of 95 years. The Funeral Service was held on Saturday at RIVER VALLEY COMMUNITY CHURCH. Memorial gifts in Thelma's memory may be made to the Gideons International in Canada. 1928 ~ ANNA VOLK ~ 2019

Anna “Anne” Volk of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late Andrew Volk, passed away on Thursday, November 14th, 2019 at the age of 91 years. Anne also leaves to cherish her memory her sons Ron (Laura) Volk and his children Mike (Leslie), Scott (Jill), and Crystal (Russ); Rick (Patty) Volk and their children Richelle and Alyssa; her daughters Vivian Dulle (Dennis) and her children C halsey (Phil) Goudet and Cory (Kiera) and Pearl (Maurice) Cornet and their children, Joshua (Erin) and Brianne (Bryce) Dirk; as well as Dennis Lamy, father of Shelley (Stefan), Stacy (Jason), Jamie, Christine Thompson and Unice Lowey; 22 great-grandchildren; brother Valentine (Annie) Hoffner; sisters Helen Leismeister, Frances DeBoer and Irene Hoffner; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Anne was predeceased by her husband Andrew Volk; her parents John and Mary Hoffner; one son David in infancy; and daughter Violet Lamy; three brothers Martin, Johnny and Adam Hoffner; and three sisters Katie Wendham, Phyllis Hoffman and Mildred Heinz. Anne was born in Vibank, Saskatchewan. She moved to Medicine Hat and that is where she met Andrew Volk. They were married on October 16th, 1948 and together they started and raised their family. Anne loved baking, gardening, and cooking. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family; bowling or playing BINGO. As the family grew, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Anne will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her. The family would like to thank the Good Samaritan Society for the professional care and support they provided to Anne. A private family time of remembrance will be held. Elizabeth (Betty) Jean Kluzak passed peacefully with family at her side at the Sunnyside Care Centre in Medicine Hat on November 8th, 2019 at the age of 87 years. DELORIS HANN

1941 ~ 2019
It is with profound sadness that we, the family of Deloris Alice Hann, announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She passed peacefully at St. Joseph’s Home – Carmel Hospice on Thursday, November 14, 2019, at the age of 78 years, after a short battle with cancer. Deloris will be lovingly remembered by her sons, James (Lynda) Wessel, Darrel (Penny) Wessel, Guy Wessel; grand-children, Kristina, Chenelle (Dallas), Megan (Ash), Montana (Christian), Crystal, Cavan (Tereal), Trinity, Logan, Tanner (Ashley), seven great-grandchildren; sister, Leona Kirk and sister-in-law, Rita Darr. Deloris was predeceased by her parents, Edwin and Elizabeth Darr; son, Sydney Hann and brother, Ray Darr. She will be missed by her family and all who knew her. Deloris will always be in our hearts. Ed Matsalla passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Home – Carmel Hospice with his family by his side on Thursday, November 14, 2019, at the age of 86 years. Ed is survived by Dorene, his loving wife of 63 years; their children, Rick (Janet) Matsalla and children, Mandi (Chris) and Geralyn (Darren); Leanne (Owen) Telke and their children, Ryan (Tanya), Kaitlin (Justin) and Kyle (Danielle); Lynda (Roger) Biemans and their daughters, Danielle (Bryan) and Janessa (Cody); Kelly (Sheldon) Kurpjuweit and their children, Robin (Kirsty), Sara (Zane) and Chelsey (Aaron); Debbie (Darcy) Brandt and sons, Remington (Erin), Mitchell (Jewelisa) and Clayton (Megan); Jim (Kari) Matsalla and their daughters, Kevyn (Mitch) and Cierra (Brennan) as well as 27 great- grandchildren and two sisters, Leona and Lorraine (Peter). Ed was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Lena; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ernest (Cecilia) and Lawrence (Shirley) as well as his brother-in-law, Garry. Ed was born and raised in Yorkton, SK area with his four siblings. – It is with great sadness the family of Phyllis Isabella Mary Pound (nee Sunstrum) of Calgary, announce her passing in Calgary, with her family by her side, on Tuesday, November 12th, 2019 at the age of 95 years. Phyllis was pre-deceased by her husband of 65 years, Harold Delmar Pound on December 6th, 2013. Phyllis will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Ted (Jennifer) and Jim (Monica); her grandchildren, Lisa (Justin), Darin (Ronaele), Robert (Jennifer) and Thomas (Josee). She will also be fondly remembered by her seven great grandchildren, Sophie, Andrew, Carson, Grace, Graham, Ethan and Avery. Phyllis will be forever remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. Born December 28th, 1923 near Emerson Crossing, Alberta, Phyllis was the last of a generation whose parents settled and homesteaded in southern Alberta in 1911. A beautiful lady whose sense of humor, kind heart and gentle soul that will be remembered for a grace that brought smiles to all who knew her. The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at Lake Bonavista Retirement Community, Calgary for their loving companionship and care extended to her these past 5 years. A Funeral Service celebrating Phyllis’s life will be held at Smith Memorial Chapel, Brooks, Alberta on Wednesday, November 20th at 1:00 PM. Rev. Esther Crews officiating.
