1919 ~ Esther Susanna Kleckner ~ 2019

Quietly and peacefully she left our world and passed into the arms of God on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at the age of 100 years. Esther was the youngest of 10 children born to Fredrich & Susanna Wildeman. She was born in Esk, Saskatchewan on June 4, 1919. The baby of the family was spoiled accordingly by her Dad, her brothers & sisters. She was bit of a tomboy and inheriting the mischievous streak from her siblings, could be found partaking in some sort of pranks around the town of Esk and the neighboring community. Esk was full of the Wildeman Family; aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers & sisters were all within a stone throw. Many wonderful memories were created as family met together on a weekly basis following Sunday morning church for fun, food and visiting. Mom was two years old when her oldest sister was married. She was closer in age to her nephews and nieces creating continuous strong bonds and friendships. During the depression, young men came to the Wildeman farm looking for work. One of these fellas had walked hundreds of miles from his home in Woodley, Saskachewan looking for a job. It was there that Esther first laid eyes on her future husband, John Kleckner. Soon after, a double wedding was held on November 3, 1938 in the Esk Evangelical United Brethren Church, sharing the day with Esther’s sister Clara & Ewald Pede, it was the event of the community. Esther & John resided in Esk for many years. It was during this time that their two sons, Rodney & Albert were born. Thirteen years later their daughter Patricia Ann entered the world. While John farmed and moved buildings, Esther managed the General Store & Post Office. Many happy and wonderful memories were made at their home in Esk. In 1957 John & Esther moved their family to Medicine Hat. Together, they managed motels, apartments, were cooks as well as dorm parents at the Hillcrest Bible School. Mom also worked at Kresge’s Department Store for many years and made friends wherever she went. She was predeceased by her parents, 6 brothers and 3 sisters, her brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law and her husband & lifelong best friend and companion, John Kleckner. She is survived by her children, Rodney (Edna), Albert & Patricia (Don) Borrows. She was blessed with 6 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister-in-law, Isabelle Kleckner & numerous nephews & nieces. Mom’s life was well lived as a precious gift of hope and grace and she made this world a much brighter place. She was content in all situations. She made the best apple pie – something that everyone in her family will attest to and no one has been able to duplicate. She welcomed all into her home without pretense or fanfare. All were welcome – anytime – anywhere. There was always room for one more at the table. No one was ever turned away. Mom’s hands were never idle. Baking, cooking, knitting, crocheting – always giving her finished treasures away to whomever would come through her door. Her family was of utmost importance to her. She was happiest when her children & grandchildren were together, eating, laughing, playing crokinole and sharing times together. When mom turned 95, she stated in a firm and confident voice – “I am going to live to be 100!” She did it! She will live on in our hearts forever. “A golden heart stopped beating. Hard working hands were laid to rest. Fern Partington Muirhead passed away on Sunday, October 13th, 2019 at the age of 85 years. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, John Charles Muirhead; children, Deb (Bryan) Kolb of Fernie, BC; grandchildren, Seana and Graeme Lees, Kostie, Pamela, Andrew, and Matthew Muirhead, great-grandchildren, Khloe and Felix Lees, Jackson and Lincoln Fisher, and Ceilidh Muirhead; sister, Cheryl (Michael) Whitehead of Ludington, Michigan; and numerous nieces and nephews. Loretta Jans, beloved wife of Edgar Jans of Medicine Hat, passed away on Sunday, November 3rd, 2019, at the age of 79 years. Loretta also leaves to cherish her memory her children, Deb (Dan) Noga, Warren (Sandra) Jans, Denise (Ernie) Welz, & Corinne Jans; her grandchildren, Joyce (Shane) Krause & children Laila & Daphne, Sheldon (Katina) Noga & children Jessica & Axle, Lisa Jans (Dillon Fauser) & son Lemmy, Tracy (Kyle) Konynenbelt & son Kade, Carla Jans (Sean Starosta), Kevin Welz, Kyle (Crystal) Welz, Bryce (Shanelle) Welz; her sister ,Marjorie Hyatt; her sisters-in-law, Aase Bauer, Florence Jans & Gertie Jans; her brother-in-law, Elmer Jans; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and extended family. Loretta was predeceased by her parents, Gottlieb and Meta (Knodel) Bauer; her parents-in-law, Fred and Elizabeth (Sulz) Jans; and her brother, Horace Bauer. Loretta will always be remembered for her love of others, her kindness and generosity, her bright smile and her sweet and caring personality. She always insisted on hosting all the numerous family gatherings every year; of course she also had to make all the hot foods and the rest of the family could bring salads and desserts. Loretta loved gardening; always growing enough vegetables to feed a few families every year. In her 'spare' time, Loretta hauled bales, worked the land, fed lots of exotic animals and birds, took care of a large yard with lawn, flowers and trees, took care of children, then grandchildren, and even found time to sew, do crafts, and teach herself to play the organ, piano, and accordion. The family would like to thank St. Joseph’s Carmel Hospice for their excellent care of Loretta. A Celebration of Life will be held at VICTORY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2793 Southview Drive SE, on Friday, November 8th, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Jim Bredeson officiating. 1943 ~ GRACE ALCOCK ~ 2019

Margaret Grace Alcock (nee Wartman) passed away peacefully on November 3rd, 2019 at the age of 76. She was the beloved wife of Boyd Alcock and the oldest of five in the family of David and Florence Wartman. She was born on March 31st, 1943 at Aylsham, SK., and was blessed with a loving family and countless friends. Through her kind and caring nature, she had the gift of bringing the sparkle of fun, compassion and connection to all. She will be forever cherished and sadly missed. She was predeceased by her parents, Florence and David; brother, Merle; brother-in-law, Earl Breadner; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Maurice and Dorothy Alcock. She leaves behind her husband, Boyd; three children, Arlayna Alcock, Kerry (Michelle) Alcock, and Sheldon (Renee) Alcock; as well as her grandchildren, Megan, Siddaly, Morgan and Quinn Alcock who lit up her life. She also will not be forgotten by her sisters, Ruth (George) Kozun, Judy (Claude) Pruden; brother, Jack (Valerie) Wartman; sister-in-law, Delma Breadner; as well as many nieces and nephews. Grace attended school in Alysham, SK until grade 12 when she graduated from Nipawin Composite High School in 1961. She then attended Saskatoon Teacher’s College for one year and then went on to the University of Saskatchewan. She enjoyed working as an elementary music and art teacher. Grace married her high school sweetheart, Boyd Alcock on July 3, 1965. After teaching in Tisdale and Harris, SK they left for Medicine Hat where she has spent the greater part of her life. Over her lifetime, she was deeply involved in the community through her involvement in many organizations and activities throughout the years. She was part of several choirs. She also volunteered as a Westminster United Church Trustee, member, and Chair of the church board. She was involved with the retired Teacher’s Association, Rotary Music Festival, Hatterland Children’s Theatre, and the Business and Professional Women’s Association alumni. Her free time was spent doing aquasize, line dancing, walking, golfing, traveling, and spending time with her beautiful grandchildren. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and she will be dearly missed by everyone she loved cared for and touched. Gregory Jay Anderson, beloved son of Phyllis and (the late) Jay Anderson, passed away in Medicine Hat on November 5th, 2019 at the age of 66 years. Greg is a dear brother to Kirk Anderson of Toronto, Mark (Margaret) Anderson of Calgary, and Clay Anderson of Edmonton. Greg also leaves to cherish his memory his niece Hannah Anderson, and his nieces and nephew Tara (Jeff) Bartlett, Beth (Sheridan) Green, Lindsay (Taylor) King, Jay (Brittany) Anderson and their children. Greg was predeceased by his father Jay and his sister-in-law Jan. Greg was born to Jay and Phyllis (née Hansen) Anderson in Lethbridge on July 18th, 1953, the first of four sons, and grew up in a very close and loving family. Greg’s educational achievements include graduating as a gold medalist with a BA in Economics. Greg’s career began as a reserve officer and founding member of Air Command in Winnipeg. He then moved on to the Credit Union System in Manitoba where he had a long and highly successful career, serving in multiple executive and advisory roles. Commencing in 2013, Greg gradually moved into retirement, allowing him to spend more time with his family and in church service. Greg’s passions included spending time with family, golf, reading, technology and driving. He will always be remembered for his ever-present smile, equanimity and dedication to family. Friends can greet the family and express condolences in the Relief Society Room of THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS, 7 Sierra Boulevard SW, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:40 a.m. on Tuesday, November 12th. Mr. Colin James Fischer of Cypress County, soul mate of Joy Stenger, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, October 30th, 2019 at the age of 47 years. Anna Grisonich passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2019, at the age of 84 years, beloved wife of Antonio Grisonich of Medicine Hat. She also leaves to cherish her memory three sons, Robert (Shelley), Patrick (Kristin) and Boris; four grandchildren Ashley, Michael, Laurel and Connor; one sister Mila and sister-in-law Paula as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Giovanna and Giuseppe Mayak; three sisters, Emelia, Lidia and Pina; four brothers, Albino, Stanco, Valerio and Romano. We would all like to thank Dr. Thomas Mohanraj, who mom considered a fourth son, as well as all of the amazing nurses and staff at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital and especially the nurses and staff at St. Joseph’s Carmel Hospice. They made mom feel so loved. On November 2nd, 2019, Mr. Stewart Fauser unexpectedly passed away at the age of 68 years.
