1926 ~ ANNA FISCHER ~ 2019

Anna Fischer of Medicine Hat passed away on Thursday, July 18th, 2019 in Medicine Hat, Alberta at the age of 92 years. Anna was born August 12, 1926 in Johannestal, Ukraine. At the very young age of 10 years old, she carried the responsibility of caring for her younger siblings while her parents were out in the fields working. Oh, how much she wanted to go play with her friends on top of the hill. During WWII mom saw, as a little girl, what nobody in their lifetime should ever see. In 1951, at the age of 25, she made the journey to Canada to start a new life. She worked 3 jobs at a time to earn enough money to bring the rest of her family to Canada. In 1955, she met her husband, Fred. Together they worked hard on the family farm in the Horsham, Sask. area. They were blessed with four children. In 1969, Fred passed away suddenly leaving mom to raise her children on her own. With her four kids in tow, she moved to Medicine Hat. There she became a successful businesswoman running "Fischer's Draperies" for over 30 years. After retiring at the young age of 78, she pursued her writing career, publishing 2 autobiographies, "Cry Out of Russia", and "Looking Back". In December 2018, mom moved to River Ridge Senior Village, and resided there until her passing. Her body was getting tired, and she left to be with the Lord with her two daughters by her side. In the last few weeks of her life, she didn't want to be alone. One of her last wishes was that all family be reunited, and to forgive. Unfortunately, the family members names were mistakenly missed from the previous announcement though Anna does leave to cherish her memory her children, Bruce (Sherry) Fischer, Dale (Melodi Petrigo) Fischer, Audrey Fischer, and Melinda Fischer; her grandchildren, Jeremy (Lacey MacLeod) Fischer, Melissa (Jeffry) Pancoast, Renee (Joe) Johnson, Ross (Shelley) Weimer, and Tyler (Jessa) Weimer; great- grandchildren, Thea Pancoast, Holt Johnson, and Heidi Weimer; brother, Adolf (Margaret) Roth; sisters, Hilda (Walter) Mueller, Kay (Helmuth) Kroll, and Helen (Carl) Tessman; brother-in-law, Norm (Sharon) Frank, sister-in-law, Violet Roth, and numerous nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her husband, Frederick, in 1969; her parents, Karl and Otaria Roth; brother, Gottlieb Roth; and sister, Rose Frank. A life so beautifully lived was beautifully remembered yesterday at the Funeral Service held at ST. PETER LUTHERAN CHURCH with Pastor Shane Hein officiating. Memorial gifts in Anna’s memory may be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church, 758 – 8th Street SE, Medicine Hat, AB T1A 1M5. Condolences may be sent through http://www.saamis.com or to condolences@saamis.com subject heading Anna Fischer. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to
