1930 ~ EDWARD FORD ~ 2019

Edward James “Ed” Ford, beloved husband of Mabel Ford, passed away on Thursday, March 28th, 2019, one day before his 89th birthday at the age of 88 years. Ed leaves to cherish his memory his sons, Dale Ford, Douglas Ford and Lloyd Ford; daughter, Myra Lightheart (Lyle Caldwell); grandchildren, Andrea (Jason) Munro, Derek Schween, Nathan Ford and Alyssa Ford; great- grandchildren, London, Davis, Alleya, Deacon and Lauren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Edward was predeceased by his parents, Reginald and Elizabeth Ford. Roy Johnson, beloved husband of Mable Johnson of Orion, Alberta, passed away on Wednesday, March 27th, 2019 at the age of 86 years. Roy also leaves to cherish his memory three sons, Nestor (Denise) Johnson, Kelvin (Sharon) Johnson and Keith (Kathy) Johnson; two daughters, Patricia (Fonz) Girard and Gloria (Wayne) Swanson; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; one brother, Fred Johnson; five sisters, Marion Yanke, Lorraine (Jim) Bjoranson, Evelyn Jesse, Shirley (Louie) Goulet and Margert (Leroy) Marthaller; sister-in-law, Mattie Hagen; his aunt, Martha Bohnet; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. 1937 ~ LLOYD MURK ~ 2019

Lloyd Walter Murk of Medicine Hat, loving husband of the late Frances Murk, passed away on Wednesday, March 27th, 2019 at the age of 81 years. Lloyd leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Laura (John) Jones; his two sons, Gary Murk and Randy Murk (LeOnne Rempel); grandchildren, Jason Smith-Murk and Dayna Lee Starke (Mandy Lawrence); sister, Blanche Clink; numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; great friends, Dennis Mudrack and Dave Mudrack, Linda Lamirade; Wally Gewer; the Medican and Mudrack crews; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Lloyd was predeceased by his wife, Frances; parents, Carl and Eva Murk; brother, Philip Murk; and Gladys Sackman. Lloyd always considered himself a very lucky man to have had two families that gave his life meaning and joy. He loved and cherished his personal family as well as a very large construction family. Together, with all his buddies, Lloyd was responsible for many of the sidewalks and curbs in Medicine Hat over 33 years with Medican Construction. He will be dearly missed by all his friends and family. MELLISH

Hazen Earl Mellish passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2019, at the age of 78 years, with his family by his side. He leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters Sherry (Dan) Martindale of Calgary and Christy (Mel) Weeks of Orion; four grandchildren, Kaiden, Logan, Shaylin and Larissa; one brother Haddon Mellish of Summerside, P.E.I. and eighteen nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Bernice and Melton Mellish; two sisters, Beryl King and Gloria May; one brother Ralph, and one sister-in-law Mae Mellish. Hazen was born on December 1, 1940 in Montaque, P.E.I. and was raised at Summerside, PE.I. He attended Summerside Elementary and High School. While in high school, he joined the Sea Cadets for four years and became the Sea Cadet Band’s lead trumper, playing in the marching band and at the Remembrance Day Services. During this time he sang and played the trumpet in music festivals and church services. At age 17, he went to Eastern Nazarene College for two years. He then joined the Royal Canadian Air Force at age 19. During his 5 ½ years with the Air Force he became a Radar Air Tech and a heavy equipment driver. In 1967, he returned to college and graduated with a Bachelor of Theology degree. From 1969 to 1992 he was married and had two wonderful daughters. He worked at Emco Plumbing, the City of Medicine Hat and BATUS. In his spare time he loved to golf, ski, play hockey, go hiking and camping. He also enjoyed playing cards and fishing. In 2000, Hazen suffered a severe heart attack and a quadruple bypass which curtailed his activities and limited him to fishing and camping in his later years. Hazen had a good sense of humour and liked telling stories or pulling gags. He was a lifelong Christian and in many churches sang hymns. Hazen will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Please join Hazen’s family for a luncheon and celebration of his life at the Chinook Village (Garden Lounge) #2801 13th Ave SE on Friday April 5, 2019 from 12:00 noon – 3:00 p.m. A monument has been placed on Union Road in P.E.I. (Near Montaque) in his name (Mellish Cemetery). His ashes will be scattered at the Mellish Cemetery, Indian Head Lighthouse on P.E.I., Reesor Lake and Johnson Canyon.
