1923 ~ MARGARET ROTH ~ 2019

Mrs. Margaret Roth, beloved wife of Emanuel Roth of Medicine Hat, passed away on Monday, March 18th, 2019 at the age of 95 years. Margaret also leaves to cherish her memory numerous nieces and nephews. Margaret was predeceased by her parents, Emanuel and Maria Beierbach; and five sisters, Sally, Emma, Hertha, Christina, Mary and Olga. Margaret was born on October 16th, 1923 in Romania. She immigrated to Canada and settled in Walsh, Alberta. She attended the McKay Creek School. Margaret married Emanuel on March 26th, 1960 and together they farmed in Richmound, Saskatchewan before retiring to Medicine Hat. Margaret also worked at Medalta Potteries and The Medicine Hat Regional Hospital. She loved living on the farm and gardening. Thank you to the nursing staff at the Haven and Sunnyview at South Country Village for their care and patience for Margaret; their care was very much appreciated. A private graveside service will take place at Saamis Prairie View Cemetery, on Friday, March 22nd, 2019 with Pastor Bob Church officiating. BEIERBACH

Shirley Mae Beierbach of Medicine Hat, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2019, at the age of 80 years, beloved wife of the late Kenneth Beierbach. She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Gayleen (Jurgen) Schlenker of Medicine Hat; two grandsons who were the joy of her life, Jared (Carly) Schlenker and their daughters Hope and Ellie; Devin (Danielle) Schlenker; three sisters, Bernice Lehr, Rovena Beierbach and Marlene (Walter) Beierbach and one brother-in-law Leonard Beierbach as well as numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Herbert and Olinda Weiss; one son Blaine Beierbach in July of 1972, one brother Levern Weiss; one sister Josephine Opp; Ken's parents Gordon and Emma Beierbach; three brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law. Shirley married Kenneth Beierbach on November 5, 1955. They were blessed with two children, Blaine Kenneth, who was killed in a tragic ranching accident and Gayleen Kim. Together, Ken and Shirley ranched and farmed near the Cypress Hills in the Graburn area. Shirley accepted the Lord as her Saviour in 1972, after their sons accident. She was a faithful member of Memorial Evangelical United Brethern Church for many years. In 1981, they moved to Medicine Hat and in 2011, they moved into Chinook Village. Shirley loved her crafts. If she wasn't crocheting something for her great grandchildren and future great grandchildren she was knitting, cross stitching or just relaxing by doing jigsaw puzzles. She loved when her grandsons and their wives visited, they were her joys. She was known as "Big Nana" by her great granddaughters. They lit up her life. Life was not easy healthwise for Shirley. She missed Ken greatly and longed for their reunion in Heaven. Family and friends who newish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 12 noon – 12:55 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Friday, March 22, 2019 at 1 :00 p.m. with Pastor Lance Duncalfe officiating. OTTILIE HERMANN

1925 ~ 2019
Ottilie Johanna Hermann passed away peacefully at the Sunnyside Nursing Home in Medicine Hat on Sunday, March 17, 2019, at the age of 94 years. Ottilie leaves to cherish her memory her son, Carl (Val) Hermann; daughter, Ingrid (Tom) Gaetz; grandchildren, Shannon (Cory) Martin, Karla Gaetz (Kelly Will), Daniel Gaetz (Renée Chelle); great-grandchildren, Hudson and Olivia Martin as well as her sister in Germany. She was predeceased by her husband, Herbert; her parents; one brother as well two sisters. Ottilie was born in Eichendorf, Romania on January 4, 1925. She immigrated with her husband, Herbert to Canada in 1956, settling in Taber, AB., moving to Burdett and then to Medicine Hat where they built a home and farm. She always had a strong work ethic managing family and farm life. Ottilie took great pride in her home and tended a large garden and loved to plant flowers. Preparing good German food and baking was her speciality which she always provided for her family and anyone that visited. Church was also important to Ottilie and she enjoyed being a part of the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church German Choir and a member of the German Canadian Harmony Hall. She will be forever cherished and loved by her family. A Graveside Service will be held at Hillside Cemetery on Thursday, March 21, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to gather at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat by 10:45 a.m. to join the procession.
