1938 ~Joyce Hansvall ~ 2019

Joyce Hansvall (nee Erickson) aged 80 years of Medicine Hat, Alberta and formerly of Tompkins, SK, passed away suddenly on January 11, 2019 at Medicine Hat Regional Hospital.
Delphia Joyce was born in Creston, BC, to Einer and Signe Erickson on January 24, 1938, a birthday present for sister, Phyllis. She attended Central School near Tompkins, SK and then high school in Medicine Hat, AB. She studied hairdressing in Calgary, graduating in 1955.
On March 16, 1956 Joyce married the love of her life, Clary Hansvall. Clary and Joyce enjoyed a busy life on the farm raising their children; Kim, Shane, Tex and Heidi. Between the farm, farm animals, four children and a huge garden, Joyce was a very busy lady. The farm was a popular place with company, family and friends always welcome and often stopping in for visits, supper and a game of cards. When Joyce was home you never went away hungry! Joyce enjoyed gardening, quilting, taking pictures and collecting treasures including an impressive spoon collection. She was involved in the Rebekah Lodge, Boy Scouts and the Church. In 1993, Clary and Joyce moved to Medicine Hat to allow Clary to be closer to health care services and Joyce to be closer to her aging Mother. Joyce began housekeeping services, caring not only for homes, but for any needs of her many clients. She enjoyed the fellowship and outings. In Medicine Hat, she was an active member in Unit 2 with Fifth Avenue UCW.
After the fire in the house on New Year’s Day 2004, they settled into condo living at Park Meadows, which meant new friends and card game partners were a plenty. Joyce was a devoted caregiver to many through her years; clients, aunts, uncles, children and grandchildren, but none more special than her beloved Clary. Joyce dedicated many years of 24/7 care to Clary, which kept her young, but most important to them both, allowed him to stay at home right up until the last few months of his life. Joyce enjoyed travelling when she could get away, with trips to Invermere, Toronto, California, Detroit, Ireland, Maui, Vancouver and summers in Cypress Park, among others. She was fortunate and thrilled to be able to visit many of her grandchildren in recent months. Joyce was predeceased by her husband Clary; parents, Einer and Signe Erickson; son-in-law, Paul Turgeon; sisters-in-law Ragnhild Norman, Esther Honsvall, Ruth McMillan, brothers-in-law Harold Honsvall, Arthur Honsvall. She is survived by her four children, Kim (Dave) Turgeon-Hardman, Shane (Shannon) Hansvall, Tex (Carol) Hansvall and Heidi (Kerry) Yuzik; grandchildren, Matthew Turgeon, Mason (Sarah Engley) Turgeon and their daughter, Quinn; Stacey Hansvall (Shayne Felske) and her children, Kieran, Avah and Koen; Chelsey (Eddie) Brown; Keagan Hansvall (Katie) and their children, Masen and Aleeah; Sara (Andrew King) and their son Cillian; Haylee Hansvall, Kyle Hansvall, Cassie Hansvall, Jesse Yuzik, Tori Yuzik (Jon Soroka), Riley Yuzik; two sisters, Phyllis (Maurice) McIlwrick and June (Scott) Harvey; Sister-in-law Lilly Elmgren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Fifth Avenue Memorial United Church in Medicine Hat, AB with Reverend Dave Pollard officiating. The eulogy will be presented by Dale McIlwrick. Shane Hansvall will be the urn bearer. TRINUS 'SLIM' MULDER

November 9, 1942 ~ January 13, 2019

Trinus (Slim) Mulder of Medicine Hat went to be with the Lord on January 13, 2019, at the age of 76 years. Trinus, son of Heinze and Pietje, was born on November 9, 1942, in Hardegryp (Friesland), Holland. At age nine, he immigrated to Canada with his family. In 1966, he married the love of his life, Petronella den Hollander, and they were loving, remarkable spouses for 52 years. They were blessed with 4 children, Brian, David, Donna, and Brenda; 9 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; 4 step- grandchildren, and 6 step-great-grandchildren.
Trinus and Nel worked side by side and built a wonderful, fulfilling life together. Trinus was known for being honest and hardworking in his work as a farmer, a drywaller, a real estate agent, home builder, and a businessman. Trinus, Nel and their family enjoyed many adventures together going for walks and drives, camping and traveling to many places. Prior to retirement, Trinus enjoyed his pets and yard and his first fish pond. In 2006, Trinus and Nel had the opportunity to build their retirement home. In retirement, Trinus golfed with family and friends, spent hours in his hobby plant room looking after his flowers, built his second fish pond, maintained a large, beautiful yard and was a friendly competitive bowler. Family and friends will especially remember Trinus for his bright smile, enthusiastic conversations and storytelling, playful energy, nature-loving, joke-telling, playing tricks, singing, intelligence, wisdom, generosity, and love. Trinus took great pride and joy in his grandchildren, showing them his yard and feeding the fish. His life was founded in the Christian faith; with his declining hearing, instead of going to church, Trinus could be found each Sunday morning watching Charles Stanley and Tribal Trails or listening to the Gaithers. Above all, Trinus was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
Trinus leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Nel; son, Brian (with Karen, Evan and Travis); son, David (with Tammy, Kate and Beth); daughter, Donna (with Tyler, Laura, Lisa [with Rony and Mila], Thea, Drew); daughter, Brenda (with Jim, Trent, Riley, Kacie [Cody, Lenni], Brendan [Mel, Amelia, Elara], and Sean [Kelly, Dawson, Grayson, Ruby]). He is survived by his 3 brothers: Harry (Coby), Harm (Linda), and Joe (Marlene). Trinus is also survived by Nel’s siblings: (Cobi), Art (Maryke), Bill (Sandy), (Annie), (Bea), Maryke (Ton), Jan (Anja), Jaap (Lida), and Anjo (Henny), along with many nieces and nephews on both sides. Trinus is predeceased by his parents, Heinze and Pietje (de Jong) Mulder; brother, Harm; Nel’s parents, Art and Petronella (Rysdam) den Hollander, and Nel’s siblings: Ger (Siem), Wynand (Rie), Arie, An (Arie), Magda (Adrie), Piet, Mart, (Peter).
Family and friends will be celebrating Trinus’ life at Temple Baptist Church, 606 – 7 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Saturday, January 19, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor George Koopmans officiating. Luncheon will follow thereafter. In true Slim fashion, those attending the service are asked to wear jeans. Trinus and his family are greatly appreciative of the care provided by the staff at the University of Alberta Hospital and the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton. Condolences may be expressed by visiting http://www.cooksouthland.com. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Tribal Trails (a First Nations Ministry with a message of Hope), P.O.
