PHILIP WEINBERGER

1923 – 2018
Philip G. Weinberger of Medicine Hat, passed away on Friday, December 7, 2018, at the age of 95 years. He leaves to cherish his memory two children, Harry Weinberger and Linda (Doug) Dobbyn all of Medicine Hat; four grandchildren, Kristel (Tony) Wright of Ottawa, Stephanie (Kevin) McGrath of Medicine Hat, Troy (Rae) Weinberger of Swift Current and Sean Dobbyn (Mei Kang) of Vancouver; three great grandchildren Liam, Callum and Jack McGrath; three brothers, Joe (Wilma) of Indian Head, Roy of Edmonton and Sonny (Barb) of Maple Creek; three sisters, Margaret Pados of Victoria, Emily Wolf of Vancouver and Tillie (Dick) Lerner of Medicine Hat; his very special friend Connie Steffler and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Ethel in 1985; his second wife Christine (Deany) McKay in 2007; daughter-in-law Irene Weinberger in 2008; seven brothers Lee, Michael, Peter, Adam, Frank, Greg and Nick and one sister Betty Meyer. Philip was born on April 8, 1923 at Fox Valley, Saskatchewan and was the 8th child in a family of 15 of Sebastian and Frances Weinberger. Philip married Ethel Geiger on October 29, 1946 and settled on the family farm in Fox Valley where they raised their family. They retired to Medicine Hat in December of 1982, and their son Harry took over the family farm in 1983. Philip, often referred to as “Dr. Phil” was a hard working, happy and fun loving man who enjoyed telling and hearing a good joke and who loved to dance, play cards, curl, bowl and watch the Toronto Blue Jays. He even joined the Senior Men’s Slow Pitch team and was “a star” for 25 years. He was a farmer at heart and helped Harry well into his 80's running the combine and offering advice. Those who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Tuesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 12:00 noon – 12:55 p.m. Family and friends will gather for prayers in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated in Holy Family Parish (1451 Strachan Road SE) on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. with Father Iqbal Khurshid celebrant. A private interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. SIMPSON, Katherine (Kathy)

(nee Stevens)
March 29, 1933 – Suffield, Alberta
December 6, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta
The family of Kathy Simpson is saddened to announce her passing on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at the age of 85 years.
Kathy was born on a farm near Suffield, AB on March 29, 1933. Much of her youth was spent in Redcliff, AB. She met Tom at a post office while working in Tilley, AB. They were married on May 26, 1952 and operated a sheep ranch in the community. Throughout her life Kathy was dedicated to her family and friends and was greatly involved with her community. She was known for her quick wit and talents for serving delicious farm fresh meals to all who visited the farm. In their retirement years Kathy and Tom moved to Medicine Hat and enjoyed vacationing numerous times in Hawaii and Europe.
She is lovingly remembered by her three children, Bruce (Gail), Bob (Peggy) and Sheila (Jeff) Dobson; her grandchildren Jenna Simpson (Kam Gill), Jilliann (Justin) Froese, Cole, Chelsey Simpson (Brennan Kichula), Courtney Simpson Brooke (Pedro Allison), Leanne (Jean Christophe) Jenson, Laura Scott (Dylan Ratt), Megan (Simo) Zarkovic, Russ (Tara) Dobson; and three great- grandchildren, Isaac MacDonald, Drake and Natalya Jenson.
Kathy was predeceased by her husband of fifty-seven years, Tom Simpson on May 19, 2010, as well as her father Edward, mother Agnes and six siblings.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road S.E., Calgary, AB) on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home in the Hospitality Centre.
