1921 ~ ALBERT JOHN SEPT ~ 2018

Albert John Sept of Medicine Hat, beloved husband of the late Nellie Mary Sept, passed away on Monday, October 1, 2018 at the age of 97 years. Albert leaves to cherish his memory his children, Duane (Susan) Sept, Louie Sept, and Elaine (John) Jeffery; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and his siblings Ben, Oswald, Reatha, Ella and June. Albert was predeceased by his wife, Nellie Mary Sept; his daughters Mary Mason and Ann Beech, his parents, John and Regina Sept. Albert was born July 10, 1921 in Prelate, SK but spent the majority of his life in Edmonton, AB. He married Nellie Kowalski on July 28, 1949, and together they raised their family. Those who knew Albert will remember him as a “Jack of all Trades”. He was employed for many years at Fruehauf Trailers, Royal Alberta Museum, and also took on many jobs including gardening, general repair work, and general contracting. In the fall of 2010, Albert moved to Medicine Hat to be closer to his family. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and he enjoyed an active lifestyle until last year when his health began to fail. Vigil Rites (Prayers) will be held at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1 Dunmore Road SE, on Monday, October 8, 2018 at 7:00 p.m., and at SAINT PATRICK’S ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 282 2nd Avenue NE on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. to 12:55 p.m. The Funeral Mass will follow at SAINT PATRICK’S ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH at 1:00 p.m. with Father Thomey Celebrant. A Private Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in St. Albert, AB at a later date. 1955 ~ PAMELA AMERO ~ 2018

Pamela “Pam” Marie Amero of Medicine Hat, passed away on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at the age of 63 years. She was born in Digby, Nova Scotia on May 10, 1955 and was raised by her grandparents in Bear River, Nova Scotia. She obtained employment with the Federal Government and worked for the Department of National Defense, stationed in both Cornwallis and Suffield. On October 28, 1989 she married her best friend, Kenny, and they were married for 28 years. Pam was a warm and caring person who was dearly loved by her family. She never let a day go by without letting them know how much they were loved and she was always available to be their shoulder to lean on when times were hard. Pam was predeceased by her parents, Ronald and Kathleen; her son, Craig and daughter, Jillian Brown. She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband, Kenny; sons Jeremiah Amero, Johnathan Amero, Joel Jardine, and Jason (Mary) Roland; nine grandchildren, Xander, Kenneth, Craig, Madeline, Willow, Tristen, Kalem, Nikki, and Jarrid; brothers Doug Carpenter, Michael Carpenter, David Carpenter and Darryl Jelfs; sisters, Deborah Carpenter, Cheryl Carpenter, Heather Carpenter, and Anne Carpenter; and numerous nieces and nephews. Kenneth “Ken” Mark Denis of Medicine Hat passed away on Monday, October 1, 2018, at the age of 53 years. He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters Jessica (Robert) Ryder (their daughter Lilli-Anna) and Ashley Denis; his father Armand Denis, two brothers Allan (Lori) Denis and Joe Denis; one sister Sharna (Trevor) Wiebe. He was predeceased by his mother Karen. Ken will always be remembered for his passion and drive in everything that he did. The love and support he had for his daughter's and granddaughter was beyond question, which could be seen in the spontaneous dance party's with Lilli-Anna. His contagious laughter, jokes, bear hugs, and homemade cooking will never be forgotten. EUGENE “BEANS” DESHARNAIS

October 13, 1928 ~ October 4, 2018

It is with sad hearts that we, the family of Eugene “Beans” John DesHarnais, announce his passing at the St. Joseph’s Home – Carmel Hospice in Medicine Hat on Thursday, October 4, 2018, at the age of 89 years. Eugene was born in Medicine Hat on October 13, 1928, to Vivian and Hector. He married Maureen Gill on March 15, 1972, and resided with her in Medicine Hat until her passing. Eugene will be remembered by his step-daughters, Debbie Hintz, Cindy Good and Patty Henchel and all of their families as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Maureen; his parents, Vivian and Hector; brother, Galvin (Doreen) and his sister, Betty Miron. Eugene was a lifetime CPR man, starting at the early age of 18 and continuing through to his retirement in 1988. He enjoyed talking about trains, his life on the CPR and airplanes. If you wanted to start up a conversation with Eugene, all you had to do was bring up one of those topics and you’d be talking for hours. In his earlier years, Eugene enjoyed flying and anything to do with airplanes. He even obtained his pilots license when he was a very young man. Eugene enjoyed going for a beer with friends and you would often find him sharing stories with others at the Legion and later with his friends at Mauro’s. Family extend their appreciation to his special friend, James Brown; to the River Ridge Retirement Home and Masterpiece Retirement Home. A Celebration of Eugene’s life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Art Hildebrand officiating and a Private interment following at Hillside Cemetery. 1939 – 2018

Mr. Gerald M. Weiss, beloved husband of Donna (nee Wolfer), passed away in Medicine Hat on Saturday, September 29, 2018, at the age of 78 years. Along with Donna, Jerry leaves to cherish his memory: daughter, Kimberley (Kelvin) Rehm; two grandsons, Quintin and Clayton who were his pride and joy of Saskatoon; sister, Pam (Ron) Bolokoski; brother, Bill; brother-in-law, Rick Busse of Calgary; sister-in-law, Marilyn (Art) Peter of Medicine Hat as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Jerry was predeceased by his parents, Elmer and Helen Weiss; sister, Donna Busse; brothers-in-law, Floyd Wolfer and Bill Flynn as well as sisters-in-law, Teanna Flynn and Mary Weiss. Jerry was born on November 2, 1939, in Medicine Hat. He grew up in the Box Springs district north of Medicine Hat where he developed his passion for rodeo. One of the highlights of his life was winning the steer riding championship at the Calgary Stampede in 1955 at the age of 15. In the early 1960’s, Jerry ranked as one of the top four bull riders in Canada. An avid sports fan, he was also an accomplished amateur boxer. Jerry fought in many matches around the province and he was a fierce competitor every time he entered the ring. He was a career employee with the City of Medicine Hat Public Works Department and sidelined as an auctioneer with Ellis Auction for over 45 years. Jerry’s favorite pastimes included going for a good cup of coffee and happy hour around the city. Family wish to extend their appreciation to Dr. Khan and nurses on the 5th floor at the hospital for providing continuing care over the past few years. A come and go celebration of Jerry's life will be held in the Ortona Room at the Royal Canadian Legion, 702 – 2 Street S.E., on Saturday, October 6, 2018, between 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Friends and family are encouraged to dress casual and make use of the podium to share their own favorite memories and stories.
