1919 ~ MARY SCHNELL ~ 2018

Mary Schnell of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late John Schnell, passed away peacefully with her family at her bedside on Saturday, September 8th, 2018 at the age of 99 years. Mary was born on March 20, 1919. She leaves to cherish her memory her two children, Rita (David) Wingenbach and Glen (Victoria) Schnell; seven grandchildren, Noel (Penita) Schnell, Kelly Schnell, Candace (Myron) Malowany, Clayton Wingenbach, Kristin (Neal) Jesperson, Sonia (Tony) Leahy, and Landyn Schnell; 10 great grandchildren, Tyler, Jessica, and Karli Schnell, Abagail Schnell, Nathan and Taryn Malowany, Cale and Troy Jesperson, Scarlet and John Leahy; along with several nieces and nephews. Mary is the youngest and the last surviving child of the Vincent and Barbara Schell family, who lived to be the oldest of all her siblings. She is predeceased by her parents; her husband, John; her son, Larry; her daughter-in-law, Sharyn; and her daughter-in-law, Laura. She is also predeceased by her three sisters, Margaret Schill, Magdalena Kuntz and Veronica Stroh; and two brothers, Tom Schell and Carl Schell. Mom shared her quick wit, sense of humor and generous spirit with everyone. Whenever she could share a joke or make someone laugh, she had achieved her goal for the day. 1928 ~ ELSIE TURKOSZ ~ 2018

Elisabeth "Elsie" Turkosz passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 6th, 2018 at the age of 90 years. She was born on September 5th, 1928 in Berndorf, Austria. She is survived by her brother, Kurt Staniek of Kapuskasing, Ontario and his son, Shane of Toronto; two sisters-in-law, Helen Knutson of Medicine Hat and Julia Lenfesty of Drumheller; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Stanley Turkosz on January 14th, 2014; her parents, Rudy and Helen Staniek; her sister-in-law, Patricia Staniek in 2017; and two brothers-in-law, Harold Knutson and Doug Lenfesty. Elsie immigrated from Berndorf, Austria with her parents and young brothers in 1950, settling in the Brooks and Duchess area. This is where she met Stan and they were married on September 13th, 1958. They farmed at Jenner and after 17 years, Stan and Elsie retired to Medicine Hat. They loved to camp, fish, garden and visit with friends. They also enjoyed traveling places like Austria, Florida, California, Mexico and Barbados, which was Elsie's favorite place. In the 1990’s they moved to the Wellington and after Stan's passing, Elsie made her home at River Ridge Senior's Village where she was lovingly cared for. The family would like to thank all her caretakers at River Ridge. 1991 ~ JACOB MICHAUD ~ 2018

MICHAUD, Jacob Quincy, age 26, formerly of Medicine Hat passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2018. Jacob was born on November 30th, 1991 in Toronto, Ontario to his mother Jacqueline Taylor and Denis Michaud. Jacob leaves to cherish his memory two brothers, Patrick Michaud and Adrian Taylor; as well as numerous uncles, aunts and cousins. A Memorial Service will be held at ST. Elizabeth “Liz” Johanna Biemans (nee: Graumans) of Medicine Hat, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Saturday September 8, 2018 at Riverview Care Center, at the wonderful age of 90 years. She was the beloved and devoted wife of the late Peter Biemans. John Allister Fyke, 78, of 40 Mile Park, Alberta and Englewood, Florida passed away Thursday September 6th, 2018 at Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary with his wife and his daughters by his side. John is survived by his wife, Dona of 40 Mile Park and Englewood, Florida. A celebration of his life will be held at Holy Family Parish (1451 Strachan Road SE) on Friday, September 14, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. with Life Celebrant, David Townsend. A reception and jam session at The Beveridge, located at 620 2nd Street Medicine Hat will follow immediately after the service.

1945 ~ 2018
Mr. Martin G. Wurtz, beloved husband of Anna A. Wurtz, passed away at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Sunday, September 9, 2018, at the age of 72 years. Along with Anna, Martin leaves to cherish his memory his children, Dorothy (Tom), Elsie (David), Lydia, Rosa, Julia (George) and Judy (Arnie); 27 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; sister, Mary (Joe) and his brother, Sam.
