BECKER

Esther Maria Becker of Medicine Hat passed away on Sunday, August 26, 2018, at the age of 98 years, beloved wife of the late Jake Becker. She leaves to cherish her memory one son, Ivan Becker (Elaine Romeike); her two grandchildren, Blaine (Sue) Becker, Jason (Noelle) Becker; and two great grandchildren Brooklyn and Bree; numerous nieces and nephews and many good friends. Esther was predeceased by her parents, Magdelena and John Stuber; her daughter, Darlene, daughter-in-law Brooke Becker, three brothers and four sisters. Esther was born May 18, 1920 in Gros Ventre, Alberta and attended Goose Lake School. Esther often talked fondly about her early years on the homestead. Sadly Esther's daughter Darlene passed away at the young age of 6 years from Leukemia in 1951. Esther married Jake in 1957, and had a wonderful loving marriage for 47 years. Esther and Jake had a busy social life dancing, playing cards, bowling and spending time at the family cabin in Elkwater. Esther was the best mom and grandmother to Ivan, Blaine, and Jason. Nan loved to cook all traditional German dishes as long as she was able. Nan handed down the tradition to her grandchildren and staunchly supervised the strudel making! Our family was blessed to have Nan and she will be sadly and forever missed.
