1925 ~ CLARENCE “SKIP” MYERS ~ 2018

Clarence “Skip” Morley Myers, beloved husband of Memory Myers of Medicine Hat, passed away on Thursday, August 23rd, 2018 at the age of 92 years. Clarence Myers was born October 6th, 1925 in Calgary, AB to Benjamin Fredrick and Edith May Myers. Raised in Abbey, SK, Clarence’s nickname “Skip” became prevalent as a child as skipping was his favorite way of getting around this small prairie town. He graduated from High School and immediately felt called to serve in the military where he remained in service for 27 years. His postings were mostly throughout Canada but the most memorable was Dundurn, SK where he met the love of his life, Memory Velva Jackson. They were married April 19th, 1949 and were blessed with three beautiful children, Lynn Dee, Morley Grant and Larry Dean. Skip’s last posting was Suffield, AB. He left the Canadian military as a Warrant Officer 2nd class in 1972 and began working for BATUS. In 1984, he moved on to managing the local liquor store in Ralston until its closing. He was an active member of the Suffield community until 2011 at which time he and Memory moved to Medicine Hat. Skip was predeceased by his son, Morley; his sisters, Pearl, Florence, Thelma, Ettie and Lettie; and his brothers, Arthur, Bert and Clint. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife Memory and their children, Lynn Myers (Jay) and Larry (Sally); grandchildren, Joel (fiancée Crystal), Simon, Hannah, and Stephen; as well as remaining family members and friends. His family would like to sincerely thank all the staff from Sunnyview for their excellent care and support for Skip during the remaining years of his life. A Graveside Service will be held at SAAMIS PRAIRIE VIEW CEMETERY, 5160 Gershaw Drive SW, on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. with Captain Ron MacDonald officiating. The officers and members of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #6, will conduct a Poppy Service for their departed comrade. You are further invited for a time of fellowship to be held at the Redcliff Royal Canadian Legion, 302 Broadway Avenue W, following the graveside service. BECKER

Esther Maria Becker of Medicine Hat passed away on Sunday, August 26, 2018, at the age of 98 years, beloved wife of the late Jacob “Jake” Becker. She leaves to cherish her memory one son, Ivan Becker (Elaine Romeike). Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:25 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Friday, August 31, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. with Dave Townsend, Life Celebrant. FAULKNER

Mickey (Maxine) Janet Faulkner of Medicine Hat, passed away on Wednesday, August 22, 2018, at the age of 78 years. She leaves to cherish her memory son, Darryl Faulkner; her daughters, Laurie Faulkner (Johnny), Lana Prosser (Barry), honorary son-in-law, Larry Prosser, Tracey Faulkner; her six grandchildren, Shannon Balsillie (McKay), Brittni (Chase) Adams, Brandon (Rochelle) Prosser, Amanda Faulkner-Schafer, Zachary William Faulkner-Taylor, Aaron James Taylor; nine great grandchildren; her sister, Roxy Schimpf (Tony); as well as two nieces and one nephew. She was predeceased by her parents, Rudolf and Olga Schmidek. Mickey grew up on the farm in Dunmore, where she enjoyed the music jams and old time fiddle playing with family, neighbors and friends. She loved dancing and was taught how to play the guitar and accordion by her mother. Mickey was a strong, independent and stubborn woman who would take no guff from anyone. She enjoyed the friendships she made along her journey and will be fondly missed. A special thank you to Chaplain Bob Findley for your kindness, your words of comfort and being available on short notice. To the staff and residents of the Medicine Hat Retirement Villa, especially Lorraine, Care aides Nancy, Connie and Novie, thank you for your patience, compassion and friendship which enriched our mother’s life. WALTRAUT (WALLY) SAYLER

June 22, 1923 (Hamborn, Germany) –
August 24, 2018 (Medicine Hat, Alberta)
Waltraut “Wally” Sayler (nee Kern) passed on to be with her dear Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ at the age of 95 years on August 24, 2018. She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Benny; their two daughters and their husbands, Jacquie and Paul Noerenberg (Hilda) and Jennifer and Rudy Schinschick (Calgary); as well as two grandchildren, Mark Noerenberg and Juliette Noerenberg. Her memory is also cherished by two brothers, Ted (Ellie) Kern and Fred (Gladys) Kern; and three sisters, Christel (Gerd) Voelske, Elsie Machell and Terry LeMaitre; as well as many nieces and nephews. Wally had a very full life; first in Germany and then in Canada. She enjoyed a medical career, beginning as a midwife and then a nurse. She left this behind when she met her sweetheart, Benny, and moved to the family farm near Hilda. There Wally became an industrious farm wife, working tirelessly and enjoying many farm, church and community activities. She was always full of energy and loved to have family and friends around her at any time. After retirement, Wally and Ben moved to Hilda and then to Medicine Hat and continued to enjoy visitors and South Country friends and staff. The family of Wally Sayler would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Havenview staff for their excellent care and dedication.
