1924 ~ HELEN GROPP ~ 2018

Helen Gropp of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late Wallace “Wally” Gropp, passed away on Saturday, June 30th, 2018 at the age of 94 years. Helen leaves to cherish her memory her children: Diane (Brian) Smyth, Dave (Jacqueline) Gropp, Carol (Doug) Prince, and Rick (Tammy) Gropp; her grandchildren, Lauri Pellow, Heather (Dan) Oster, Scott (Heidi) Gropp, Todd (Vicki) Smyth, and Shaun (Cheryl) Smyth; her great grandchildren, Shaylin, Josh, Wyatt, Paige, Casey, and Andrew; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Wally, Helen was predeceased by her parents, Andrew and Lillian Lofthang; her brothers, Walter and Dick; and her sisters, Eve and Shirley. Helen was born and raised in the Simmie, Saskatchewan area where she grew up. She met Wally at the age of 15 years and they were married three years later, settling on a farm in the Webb, Saskatchewan district. Helen was a hard worker, she helped on their large farm they had, helped Wally in his construction business building houses, and always helped out her children and grandchildren. She relished the labor and the satisfaction of helping others. In her later years, Helen enjoyed traveling to Mexico and to the United States. After Wally passed away, Helen continued to live in their home. She eventually moved to a condo where she lived for the past three years until she needed assisted living. A Celebration of Helen’s life, and the interment where she will be reunited with Wally, will take place at a later date. DUERS, Audrey Elsie

June 24, 1924 to June 26, 2018

It is with heaviest hearts we share the news of the peaceful passing of our mother, Audrey Elsie Duers, at the age of 94 years. She was the centre of our world and will be dearly missed.
Audrey is survived by her loving daughters and their families: Margaret (Wayne) Sorenson and children Glen (Wendy) and Kevin (Lisa); Joyce (Gerry) Regier and children Bob, Ted (Martha) and Callan; and Lesley (Gerry) Girard and children Derek and Blair. Fondly remembering their great grandma are Dylan, Hannah, Milan, Evan, Jackson, Jorjia, Stephanie, Derek, Drew, Jordan, Brie, Joey and Charley. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law, Lorraine Winget; and many nieces and nephews.
Audrey was predeceased and will be reunited with her loving husband, Robert Charles “Charlie” Duers who passed in October of 2004.
Audrey was born in Regina, Saskatchewan in 1924 to Cliff and Margaret Winget, having one sister. Joyce and one brother, Clinton. During the war, cooling off at the Swift Current swimming hole, she met an English Air Force soldier – the love of her life who became her husband of 62 years, Charlie (Ginger) Duers. After the war, in her early years of marriage, Audrey lived in Newcastle, England for 10 years before returning to Canada in 1953. She raised her family in many cities across Canada making lifelong friendships in each city.
Audrey enjoyed many hobbies such as quilting, sewing, painting, gardening, crafting and stamp collecting. But it didn't stop there! Audrey had a passion for golf, curling, cards, bowling, camping – too many to mention.
Most importantly, her family always came first. Watching or participating in graduations, sports events, concerts, theatre, recitals she was front and centre!
A Celebration of Audrey’s Life will be held at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. with Gary W. Goran officiating. GAYLENE L. SCORY

September 16, 1942 ~ June 27, 2018

It is with profound sadness that the family announce the sudden passing of Gaylene L. Scory, beloved wife of Robert (Bob) Scory. She was born and raised in Kindersley, SK. and moved to Medicine Hat in 1968. Gaylene married Robert (Bob) Scory on October 6, 1989 in Medicine Hat and shared 28 wonderful years together. She spent many years in the Real Estate business before her retirement. Gaylene was the first female President of the Alberta Real Estate Board, President of the Medicine Hat Real Estate Board and the first female realtor to achieve $1M in sales. She was a member of Job’s Daughters, John Howard Society and the Ladies of the Royal Purple (Shriner’s). Gaylene loved her family and grandchildren before anything else. She also enjoyed golf, reading, playing cards especially Canasta, sewing, watching “Day’s Of Our Lives” on TV, curling, hockey and various other sports on TV. She was a selfless, caring, big hearted woman who was accepting of everyone in her circle. Gaylene’s strong will and business mind gave her the reputation of ‘The Boss’. She will be lovingly remembered in the hearts of her family, husband, Bob; children, Sherry Dale, and her son, Braydon Dale; Trish Danderfer, and her children, Devon (Meaghan) Danderfer and their children, Brylee and Jaxon; Coy Schneider; Jace Schneider; Monty (Melissa) Scory and their children, Madison and Mason. Gaylene’s memory will also be cherished by her siblings, Joanne (Ralph) Warman, Dennis Mellum, Brian (Linda) Mellum as well as numerous nieces, nephews and loving family members. Gaylene was predeceased by her parents, Garold and Lillian Mellum and brother, Garry Mellum. Please note the change in venue and the time of the Celebration of Gaylene’s life which will be held on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at 1:00 p.m., in the Auditorium at the Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede Park, 2055 – 21 Avenue S.E., Medicine Hat, with Life Celebrant Gerry Getz officiating.
