FREDA MARY GENEVA REI

S
Freda Mary Geneva Reis age 92 of Medicine Hat passed away Dec 11, 2017 at the Riverview Care Centre in Medicine Hat. She was born in Maple Creek on August 7, 1925. Her parents were Mary and James Johanson. She has 1 sister Elaine. On March 4, 1944 Freda married Morris Reis the love of her life. Together they had 3 children; 1 son and 2 daughters, 6 grandsons and 1 granddaughter, 2 great grandsons and 4 great granddaughters. They did everything together and their greatest joys were travelling the roads in SW Sask to play BINGO which was her passion throughout her life.
She was an active member of the UCW and the Rebekah Lodge. Once Morris retired from farming their pastime was to attend the afternoon card playing sessions at the Tompkins Seniors Center. The friends she made there were a treasure to her especially after Morris died. Freda also curled in her younger days and travelled to many bonspiels in Sask often bringing home a trophy for top prize in one of the events.
She was a devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She had a great sense of humour, quick to smile and a laugh that was recognizable to many.
She was an excellent cook and baker and all of the family have a favorite cookie or cake that they looked forward to when they visited as they knew it would be waiting when they arrived.
She valued family and loved to have them visit whenever they could. She was so proud of every achievement no matter how big or small.
She had a great life and we will miss her dearly but as she so often said “What will be, will be”. A funeral service was held on December 19, 2017 at the Tompkins United Church in Tompkins, SK with Rev. Eleanor Rockabar officiating. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Binkley’s Funeral Service, Maple Creek and Leader. Condolences may be offered to the family at http://www.binkleysfuneralservice.com
