1921 ~ MARTHA JANECKE ~ 2017

Martha Janecke of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late Earl Janecke, passed away on Friday, September 15th, 2017 at the age of 95 years. Martha leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Larry (Betty) and Wayne (Jayne); her grandchildren, Jim (Brandy), Bob (Myrna), Steven (Ashley), and Krystal (Ryan) Martin; and seven great-grandchildren, Maxx, Miley, Axton, Keyley, Nash, Tate, and Manny; two brothers, Alvin (Carol) Eisenbarth and Bob (Carol) Eisenbarth; brother-in-law, Vern (Barbara) Janecke; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Martha was predeceased by her parents, William and Lydia Eisenbarth; her husband, Earl; her daughter, Sharon Janecke; two sisters, Klara and Emma; three brothers, Richard (Esther), Herbert (Lottie), and Fred (Edith); sister-in-law, Pearl (Sam) Becker; and brother-in-law, Vic (Nellie) Stephan. Martha spent many years as a homemaker and working on the farm. She was an excellent cook and loved to go on camping trips with her grandchildren. Martha also loved to play cards – Earl always said she was born with a deck of cards in her hands. She enjoyed travelling and bowling and was a member of the Veiner Centre since its opening. Martha will be sadly missed by her family and friends. The Funeral Service will be held in the Terrace Room at CHINOOK VILLAGE, 2801 – 13th Avenue SE, on Friday, September 22nd, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Lance Duncalfe officiating. A Private Interment will take place at Saamis Prairie View Cemetery. 1935 ~ JACK WIST ~ 2017

Jacob “Jack” Wist passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 17th, 2017 at Sunnyside Nursing Home. Jack, as known by most, leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 59 years, Annamary “Ann” Wist; two children, Pauline Garcia of Texas and Patrick (Lynn) Wist of Medicine Hat; six grandchildren, Stacey, Crystal, Cordell (Megan) Kalmring all of Texas, Chantelle (Mark) Kalmring, Danielle Wist, Jake (Rachel) Wist all of Medicine Hat; seven great grandchildren, Grayson, Ryler and Keaton all of Medicine Hat, Kanton, Landry, Lane and James (JW) all of Texas; three brothers, Val (Margaret), Adam (Beverly) and Peter (Vi) Wist all of Medicine Hat; two sisters, Kay Besplug of Leader, Saskatchewan and Lorraine (Armon) Sequin of Medicine Hat; sister-in-law, Madaline Wist of Medicine Hat. He also leaves to cherish his memory his brothers and sisters-in-law, Harley & Pauline Berg, Catherine Desjarlais, Lew & Sue Buettner, Gary & Alberta Buettner, Balzer & Elsie Buettner; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and four aunts all of Medicine Hat. Jack was predeceased by his parents, Leon and Magdalina Wist; one brother, Nelson; his in-laws, Joseph Buettner and Margaret Sehn; one sister-in-law, Teresa Drudy; two brothers-in-law, Richard Drudy and Peter Buettner; and son-in-law, Eduardo Garcia. The family would like to thank Dr. Ruzycki and the caring staff at Sunnyside Nursing Home. Vigil Rites (Prayers) will be held at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1 Dunmore Road SE, on Wednesday, September 20th, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at HOLY FAMILY PARISH, 1451 Strachan Road SE, on Thursday, September 21st, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. with Father Philip Le, Celebrant. A private interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery.
