1940 ~ JEAN SWEET ~ 2017

Jean Louise Sweet, beloved wife of Ross Sweet of Redcliff, passed away on Monday, May 8th, 2017 at the age of 77 years. Jean also leaves to cherish her memory four children, Don (Lisa) of Red Deer, Darryl (Shelley) of Airdrie, Marvin (Karen) and Sheila (Terry), both of Redcliff; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one sister, Sharon (Brian) Boist of Lacombe; one sister-in-law, Evelyn Morrow of Ponoka; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Jean was predeceased by her parents, Vern and Lillian Morrow; one brother, Marvin; and one sister, Helen. Jean was born on May 5th, 1940 in Edmonton. She married Ross on August 15th, 1958 in Ponoka. Jean worked at C.F.B. Suffield for 21 years, retiring in 1996. She was very active with the Royal Canadian Legion, Ladies Auxiliary. Jean enjoyed camping at their lot at Rattlesnake for many years. She loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren who will miss her dearly. – Mr. Gene Nighswander, an 18 year member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union, Local 496, passed away April 24, 2017. The Officers, Members & Staff extend their deepest sympathy.

Kathleen Emma Gobel of Medicine Hat, passed away on Monday, May 9, 2017, at the age of 45 years. She was predeceased by her parents Bill and Lorraine Gobel and one sister Krista. Elizabeth “Liz” Clara Schile of Medicine Hat, passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at the age of 97 years, beloved wife of the late Peter Schile. The funeral service will be held in the Wuerfel Auditorium, South Country Village, (1720 Bell Street SW) on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Robert Findley officiating. VICTORIA HOLBROOK

1943 – 2017
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Victoria ‘Vickie’ Elaine Holbrook, beloved wife of the late Wayne Holbrook, announce her passing at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at the age of 74 years. Vickie was born in Barrie, Ontario on March 11, 1943 and attended school in Grandview, MB. The family later moved to Calgary where Vickie married the love of her life, Wayne Thomas Holbrook. Together they raised their two children in Calgary before moving and making their home in Medicine Hat. Vickie’s compassionate and caring personality made her a pleasure to be around. Her love of cooking ensured there was always some baked goods or a hot meal ready for family and friends. Vickie’s memory will be treasured in the hearts of her daughter, Donna (Gord) Swalm and son, Barry Holbrook; siblings, Larry (Shirley) Smith, Deanna (Dick) Loewen, Carol (Garth) Leavitt as well as numerous other family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Wayne; mother, Clarice and siblings, Dolly, Ted and Don. Vickie’s life will be celebrated at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Monday, May 15, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. with Life Celebrant Gerry Getz officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery with a time of fellowship thereafter in the Cook Southland Reception Facility.
