1931 ~ FREADA GIESE ~ 2017

Freada Giese of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late Gerald Giese, passed away on Thursday, January 26th, 2017 at the age of 85 years. Freada leaves to cherish her memory one son, Calvin (Leila) Giese; two daughters, Melinda (Paul) McNie and Vivian (Douglas) Fox; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; two brothers, Art (Bernice) Schmidt and Marvin Schmidt; two sisters, Alice Gerber and Delores (Jim) Mutschler; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Freada was predeceased by her husband, Gerald; her parents, Adam and Ida Schmidt; two brothers, Otto Schmidt and Harold Schmidt; and one sister, Elsie Beck. A Celebration of Life will be held at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, on
Saturday, April 15th, 2017 at 1:00 p.m.
with Diaconal Minister Lila de Waal officiating. Interment will follow at Saamis Prairie View Cemetery. ALMA BROWN

1937 – 2017
Mrs. Alma Brown, beloved wife of the late Bob Brown, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Saturday, April 8, 2017, at the age of 80 years. Left to cherish Alma’s memory are her children, Barb (Wayne) Ramsay and Greg (Trish) Brown; grandchildren, Ashley, Morgan and Jaxon Brown; sister, Yvonne Wagner and sisters-in-law, Shirley (Ross) Zuehlke and Bernice Wagner. Alma was predeceased by her husband, Bob; daughter, Corinne; grandson, Josh and brother, Dale. Alma was born on March 7, 1937, in Kamloops, BC., and was raised in Eatonia, SK. She moved to Medicine Hat where she roomed and boarded in the Brown family house. Little did Alma know that this is where she would meet the love of her life, Bob Brown. They enjoyed 46 wonderful years together before Bob passed away in December of 2004. Together they raised their family, owned a farm and ran their own electrical business. She enjoyed spending time at the family cabin in Elkwater and going for coffee with her many friends. Alma’s favorite past time was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren whom she adored. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Friday, April 14, 2017, between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Interment will take place at the Redcliff Cemetery on Saturday, April 15, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. The Celebration of Alma’s life will follow at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend David Carter officiating and a time of fellowship thereafter in the Cook Southland Reception Facility. BEVERLY NEIL DICK


June 1, 1938 – April 10, 2017

Bev’s life was cut short following an unexpected and severe stroke. While surrounded by his loving family, Bev passed away at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary on Monday, April 10, 2017, at the age of 78 years. Along with Joyce (nee Hayne), his loving wife of over 60 years, Bev leaves to cherish his memory three children and their families: son, James (Cheryl) and their three children, Jason (Karen) and their kids, Aiden and Ella; Angela (Julian) Regino and their baby on the way; Cory (Adriane) and their daughter, Thea; daughter, Cynthia Rattai and her four children, Jordan Rattai(Kendra Wertz) , Taylor Rattai, Mackenzie Rattai (Lynn Doerksen) and Nolan Rattai as well as their father, Dan Rattai; son, Vallen Dick (Tage) and their two children, Falynn (Cory) Holt and their son, Brenton and Kaitlynn Dick. Bev is also survived by three brothers and three sisters as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Phillip and Elizabeth Dick as well as two brothers and three sisters. Bev was born, raised and received his education in Carseland, Alberta. He worked his entire life in the Agriculture Industry. Bev was employed with Massey Ferguson for over 16 years and jointly owned Hat Farm Supply and Cypress Farm Supply for 20 years while farming with his son, James, up until last Friday. Bev was a very caring and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He had a heart… as big as it gets! Up until carpal tunnel health issues, Bev was an avid and award winning trap shooter. He loved the outdoors and spent many hours with Jim out at the farm. Bev was good in the kitchen and took great pleasure in making his dill pickles and also canning peaches and making borscht. He bragged about his cooking and if you didn’t eat it, you were in trouble! He made sure that he never missed an important event or game for any of the grandchildren and later, the great-grandchildren. He encouraged them to do their best and to always have fun.Hammie (pet cat) and the rest of us will truly miss you Pa! Bev loved the color yellow and his many good friends will certainly remember his yellow John Deere pants. Please wear yellow on Tuesday! A Celebration of Bev’s life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. A private interment will take place in Hillside Cemetery at a later date. Genevieve Myers passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2017, at the age of 83 years, beloved wife of the late George Myers. SANDFORD

We are sad to announce the passing of David Andrew Sandford on the 31st of March, 2017, due to a heart attack. He was born in Quebec, June 7, 1966 to parents Bruce and Margaret. He was raised in the Medicine Hat area, graduating from McCoy High School in 1984. He then moved to Vancouver, B.C., completing a four year course at Emily Carr University of Art and Design in 1988. He leaves behind to mourn, his mother Margaret and three brothers and one sister. His oldest brother Bruce (fiancé Marena), Bruce’s two sons, Matt (fiancé Gina) and Conor, with their mother, Lorie Bonin; David’s brother Michael (wife Georgina); David’s brother Steve (wife Am) and daughters, Rhandi and Charli; David’s sister Elisabeth (husband James) and their daughter Ainsley; and close family friend Dany Gabay. Cremation has taken place and David’s ashes will be scattered in British Columbia at a future date to be announced. Many thanks to all those who sent well wishes and condolences.
