1915 ~ WOELFLE ~ 2016

Mr. Otto Woelfle of Medicine Hat, beloved husband of the late Edith Woelfle, passed away on Tuesday, August 9th, 2016 at the age of 101 years. Otto leaves to cherish his memory one son, Marvin (Edith) Woelfle of Medicine Hat; one daughter, Marylin (Gordon) Teel of Calgary; six grandchildren, Janice Korenic of Kelowna, Judy (Glen) Getz of Medicine Hat and their children, David (Vicky) and Jade, Jackie Doell of Medicine Hat and her children, Keeley and Grayce, Joy (Matt) Huffadine of Medicine Hat and their children, Emily, Hailey and Jason, Sandy (Danny) Polomark of Victoria and their children, Stephanie and Nicholas, and Cheryl (Shawn) Prawdzik of Calgary and their daughter, Sydney; one sister, Anita (Christian) Traxel; one sister-in-law, Tilley Martin; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Otto was predeceased by his wife, Edith; his parents, Jakob and Bertha Woelfle; two brothers, Jakob (Elizabeth) Woelfle and Hugo (Annie) Woelfle; and five sisters, Martha (Henry) Fischer, Hertha (Andrew) Schafer, Metha (William) Walker, Irena (Walter) Poffenroth and Alvina (Reginald) Zebedee. Otto was born on February 25th, 1915 at Irvine, Alberta and was raised and educated in the Hilda area. It was in Schuler where Otto met the love of his life and future wife, Edith and they were married in Medicine Hat on October 20th, 1938. Together they farmed in the Hilda area for eighteen years, and while farming, they also had a school bus route, which they worked together. In 1956, they moved to Medicine Hat and continued to farm from the City. In 1958, Otto formed Necker & Woelfle Construction with his partner, Arnold Necker. He built many commercial and residential homes in Medicine Hat and surrounding areas, including the Chinook Building in downtown Medicine Hat, and several Royal Bank buildings in Brooks and other towns. In 1975, they sold both the farm and construction business, and retired. Otto enjoyed travelling with Edith, gardening and woodworking. He was also an avid supporter of the Medicine Hat Tigers, Medicine Hat Blue Jays and Mavericks baseball teams. Otto and Edith were longtime members of the Hillcrest Evangelical Church. The Funeral Service will be held at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1 Dunmore Road SE, on Saturday, August 13th, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Lance Duncalfe officiating. A private family interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery. 1934 ~ NEMETH ~ 2016

Gladys Aileen Nemeth of Redcliff, beloved wife of the late Vendel Nemeth, passed away on Friday, August 5th, 2016 at the age of 82 years. Gladys leaves to cherish her memory her five children, Wally Nemeth (Elaine) of Sheritan Lake, BC, Tim Nemeth (Nancy) of Chilliwack, BC, Robert Nemeth of Lac La Biche, AB, Susan Nemeth-Lahai (Aziz) and Valerie Jans (Steve), both of Redcliff; two very special daughters-in-law, Jordi Nemeth and Leslie Nemeth; eight grandchildren, Christine Dennis (Phillip), Richard Nemeth, Jesse Nemeth (Tiffany-Ann), Tracey Nemeth, Travis Nemeth (Lindsey), Bailey Jans (Wolfgang), Lance Nemeth, Annika Nemeth; five great-grandchildren, Shelby Mastel (Matt), Silas Swan, Sophie Nemeth, Parker Nemeth, Archer Nemeth; one sister, Matilda Glass of Regina, SK; and her special canine companion, Daisy. Gladys was predeceased by her husband, Vendel Nemeth; one son, Roger Nemeth; her parents, George and Elsie Hubick; two brothers, George Hubick and Donald Hubick; and two sisters, Joyce Reiff and Doris Komar. Gladys was born and raised in Earl Grey, Saskatchewan. She married her sweetheart, Vendel Nemeth on November 30th, 1951 in Earl Grey. Gladys and Vendel moved to Alberta in 1953. Gladys worked at the Redcliff Curling Club as a caretaker for 16 years. She loved sharing many activities with her family such as camping, fishing, attending rodeos, nitro funny car drag racing, as well as hosting and cooking for special family holidays and gatherings. Gladys was an avid sports fan, she especially loved watching the Toronto Blue Jays games. The Funeral Service will be held at VICTORY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2793 Southview Drive SE, on Monday, August 15th, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. with Reverend James. C. Bredeson and Diaconal Minister Lila de Waal co- officiating. Interment will follow at Redcliff Cemetery. Memorial gifts in Gladys's memory may be made to the Margery E. Robert “Bob” Kipling Beard passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2016, at the age of 91 years, beloved husband of Luella “Lou” Beard of Redcliff. Dick Noon of Medicine Hat, passed away on Monday, August 1, 2016, at the age of 92 years. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife Shirley Reid-Noon of Houston, Texas; his children Jim (Orla) Noon of Medicine Hat and Judith (Frank) Boehm of Calgary; two grandchildren, Corissa (Guillaume) Audren and Jeff (Tamara) Noon all of Medicine Hat; three great grandchildren, Kai, Halle and Annie; one brother, Bud (Reina) Noon; one sister-in-law, Marie Noon; Shirley’s daughter Diane (Larry) Spence and their family as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife Dorothy on October 12, 1999, and his daughter Susan in infancy; two brothers, Bill and Elmer and three sisters, Marge, Emma and Rose. A celebration of Dick’s life will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Leroy Angle officiating. REMPEL

Martha “Marty” Rempel of Medicine Hat passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2016, at the age of 88 years, beloved wife of the late David Rempel. She leaves to share her memory her children: Kathy (Alex) Neuhauser, Jayne (Greg) Roth, James (Sharon Allan) Rempel and Phil (Brooke) Rempel; and seven grandchildren: Marion (Aren), Jody, Jordan (Dwayne) (children: Danycka, Chloe and Jacob), Greyson (Amy) (children: Cassidy and Kaleb) Cameron, Jocelyn, and Lillian. She also leaves three sisters, Margaret (Henry) Rempel, Laura Klassen and Elfrieda (Henry) Traber, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Martha was born in Eyebrow, Saskatchewan to a family that included seven siblings. She grew up in Vauxhall, Alberta, where she married David in 1949, seeing in him a man of vision and principle. As an artist, writer, florist, gardener, and homemaker, Martha created and celebrated beauty. A member of the Medicine Hat Art Club for many years, she exhibited her paintings at club exhibitions, and Medicine Hat College and Stampede art shows. Her homes and yards were filled with her aesthetic inspiration as well, and for years she co-owned the Crescent Heights florist shop where she shared floral creations with Medicine Hat. She was also a critical thinker, analyzing her world with insight and humor, frequently sharing her insights in short stories or reflective writings about family and life. She honed her thinking by engaging in undergraduate coursework, excelling in English. An inveterate journal and letter writer, she continually reflected on her life. She and David often traveled abroad, nurturing a lively curiosity about their world. Hers was a rich and examined life. Martha combined this rich interior life with a profound sharing of herself. She and David were wonderfully hospitable, and with her devotion to excellence in cooking and artful dining experiences, they opened their home to countless appreciative family and friends, regularly hosting gatherings that made the rafters ring with laughter and fellowship. She and David were grandparents of legendary capacity, providing a second home for grandchildren, constantly filled with vital activity. She was also an engaged member of the Crestwood Mennonite Brethren Church for almost 50 years, a Sunday School teacher, coordinator of food services, choir member, and host to church visitors. She came to define herself by these essential communal values. The family is grateful for the compassionate care of Doctors Mastel and Villenueve. They thank the warm-hearted staff at Chinook Village Assisted Living and St. Joseph’s Home for their care of Martha over the last year.
