Margaret Annette Anderson passed away on Monday, July 25, 2016, at the age of 86 years, beloved wife of Ian Anderson of Medicine Hat. She also leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Lyle Dragland. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Minnie Hansen; two sons, Glen and Neil Dragland; her baby daughter Norine; her brother, Henry Hansen and her sister, Violet Hansen. No service will be held at this time as per Margaret’s wishes. PIELAK, Anne Marie

April 11, 1957 – July 23, 2016
On July 23, 2016, Mrs. Anne Marie Pielak (Hankins) of Edmonton, AB, formerly of Medicine Hat, AB., passed away peacefully at the age of 59 years.
Anne Marie will be lovingly remembered by her only daughter Terah Pielak; brother, Larry Hankins (Penny); sisters, Stella Arndt (Ralph) and Faith Schattle (Neil); as well as six nieces and nephews.
She will also be remembered by her grand dog Zola and the numerous foster children that were in her care. She was predeceased by her father Lawrence Hankins, and mother Lucile Hankins (Goller).
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at 1p.m. at Park Place Funeral Home, 51 Broadway Blvd., Sherwood Park, AB. Final resting place will be in Medicine Hat, AB. Cremation has already taken place.
In lieu of floral tributes, memorial donations may be made to the Zebra Society of Alberta, or Little Warriors Association.

LEHN

Albertina “Tena” Lehn (nee Rivard), age 87, of Redcliff, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospice on July 26, 2016. Tena, the oldest of fourteen children, was born in Willowbunch, Saskatchewan on October 5, 1928 to Victoria and Dolphis “Jumbo” Rivard. Tena moved from Regina to Calgary in 1972, where she spent 30 years engaged in her many passions: catering, floral design and volunteering many hours of time to seniors and the sick. May of 1992 and May of 1997 would find Tena in her greatest role yet – a grandmother. Tena’s granddaughters would become the light of her life. After a few years in Red Deer, she made her way to Redcliff where she would spend time with family and new friends. Tena’s homes were open to her numerous nieces and nephews, and always filled with fresh baking and a good dinner. Tena leaves behind her son, Percidale Hala; daughter, TerryLee (Byron) Reban; granddaughters, Natawni (Scott Sailer) Codd and Shenoah Reban. She was recently predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Sandra Krystalowich and her nephews Ronald Percy and Conrad Rivard. Her family is grateful for the love and care given to Tena by her nephew Ron and his wife, Anna, and by the staff at St. Joseph’s. Warren Kenneth Lewis (Louie) peacefully passed away on July 21, 2016 at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital at the age of 57. He leaves to cherish his memory his son Jeremy, brother Dave (Marilyn), sisters Marlene Hallam, Doreen (Terry) White and their families. He was predeceased by his parents Tommy and Elsie, brother Brian, nephew Troy Hallam, and brother-in-law Rick Hallam. Warren’s life can be remembered silently as he requested no funeral services.

1944 ~ 2016
Patricia Ann Eld, beloved wife of Mervin Harvey Eld, passed away peacefully at her home in Medicine Hat on Friday, July 22, 2016 at the age of 71 years. She was born on November 12, 1944 in England to John and Margaret Thiessen and moved to Canada as a child. Patrica married, Mervin Harvey Eld on January 9, 1965. She will be forever remembered in the hearts of her husband, Mervin; children, Kevin (Laurette) their children, Courtney (Jaeden) and Kai; Sean (Chrissy) their children, Brittany, Greyson and Keegan; Colin (Tracey) their children, Hayden and Caelen; Kat (Rob) and their children, Nolah and Kamryn. Patricia will also be remembered by her sisters, Margaret Woolsey, Carol (Ian) Wylie and sister- in-law, Linda Thiessen. She was predeceassed by her brother, Gary Thiessen and brother-in-law, Al Woolsey. The family will honour Patricia’s life with a family interment in Drumheller, Alberta, on August 13, 2016. RICHARD BERTRAM MARSHALL

August 10, 1943 ~ July 20, 2016

Richard Marshall passed away at home on July 20, 2016, after a brief battle with cancer. Richard was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta to his parents, Val and Mary Marshall and studied to be a doctor at the University of Portland, Oregon and Oceanography at Scripps College in San Diego. Richard met his wife, Lois in San Diego in 1966, and moved to Vancouver, British Columbia, where he started his company, Career Personnel. He loved his work as a recruiter and owner of his recruiting agencies for his entire career. In 1973, they moved to Gstaad, Switzerland with their son Justin, and then moved to Carmel, California in 1976, where they had two more children, Joelle and Jordan. After living in Carmel for 30 years, he moved back to Medicine Hat in 2006, to be closer to his family. Richard was a loving and devoted family man who was compassionate, thoughtful, generous and understanding who was always full of hope, strength and laughter. Richard will be remembered most for his legendary sense of humour and wit. He always saw the best in every person and every situation and his sense of humour never failed. He was a true gentleman who was respected and loved by all who knew him. Richard truly loved his family and friends and impacted the lives of all he knew. He had a long list of best friends, who truly were the best of friends. He had a passion for traveling the world and exploring new places, loved jokes and keeping in contact with people by e-mailing daily jokes. Richard was a great gardener who took great pride in his garden. He enjoyed great food, hiking, history, the challenge of fixing almost anything around the house and discussing any type of business. He primarily loved taking care of his family and guiding and watching his family grow. Richard always spoke encouraging words of wisdom and guidance that came from experience and always made time to listen to and help others. He had an enormous heart, generous soul and brilliant mind. Richard truly lived his life to the fullest and enjoyed every moment with humour, laughter and integrity. He was a truly remarkable and honourable man who will be greatly missed. Richard is survived by his son, Justin Marshall; daughter, Joelle (Ken) Silveira; son, Jordan Marshall and son, Johnny Ross; granddaughters, Caitlin Martis and Sophia Silveira; great- granddaughter, Landyn Martis; brothers, James (Lorine) Marshall and Robert (Darlene) Marshall and his mother, Mary Campbell. He was predeceased by his father, Val Marshall and the love of his life, Lois Marshall. A candlelight vigil will be held at St. Patirck’s Roman Catholic Church, 238 – 2 Avenue N.E., Medicine Hat, Alberta, on Tuesday, August 9, 2016, at 7:00 p.m.  The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, August 10, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. Following the mass, a time of remembrance will be held at Echo Dale Regional Park, day use area/campground (on far east end) in Medicine Hat, from 3:00 p.m. – 9:00 pm. RUTH EDWARDS

1936 ~ 2016

It is with sadness that the family of Laura “Ruth” Edwards announce her peaceful passing while at South Country Village in Medicine Hat on Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at the age of 80 years. Ruth was born in Foremost, Alberta on March 23, 1936, a daughter to proud parents, Willard and Edna Baxter. She raised her young family for many years until she met and fell in love with Charlie Edwards and together they raised her children and soon welcomed their grandchildren. Charlie predeceased her in 1999 and a piece of her heart went with him. Ruth was a mom before all else and the love for her family had no limit. She lovingly supported her grandchildren whether it was at a sporting, Special Olympics event or band gig. Many memories have been made sitting around the table eating the meal she had lovingly prepared. Family and community were her greatest loves. A woman of great strength, loyalty and devotion her legacy and memory will live on in the hearts of her children: daughters, Glennis Theofan (Rick Henderson) and Kim (Dean) Marchand and son, George (Alice) Theofan; grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Kevin (Serena) Wagner – Chas and Stella; Kyle (Robin) Marchand – Austin, Emilee, Austin and Chase; Brydon Marchand; Jordan (Sarah) Theofan – Nikolaus and Alivia and Daniel Theofan. In Ruth’s honour, a Private Graveside Service will be held at Hillside Cemetery with Life Celebrant Gerry Getz officiating. The family is eternally grateful for the extraordinary care and compassion shown to Ruth while at South Country Village and express their sincere, heartfelt appreciation to the RN’s and support staff.
