ALEX JASSMAN

June 11, 1934 – January 13, 2016
Alex Jassman of Burstall Saskatchewan passed away on January 13, 2016 in the loving arms of his best friend Jackie Jassman. Alex was 81 years old. He passed away in his paradise, Mazatlan Mexico.
Alex leaves to cherish his memory his wife Jackie Jassman, his sons Keith and Sheryl Jassman of Burstall, Glen and Fran Jassman of Medicine Hat, and Lee and Kendra Wedge of Medicine Hat, and his daughter Tara Wedge of Edmonton. His four grandsons Chad Jassman of Calgary, Cody Jassman (Danielle Guise) of Calgary, Xavier and Kooper Wedge of Medicine Hat.
Alex was born on June 11, 1934 in Mendham Saskatchewan and moved to Burstall in 1975 where he was the local plumber. Alex met the love of his life in 1988. Alex was very active in his community, he played baseball, hockey and curled for many years. Alex also loved fishing, hunting, camping, and travelling.
Alex was a Lions member for many years and still was an active member on his local club at his passing. He helped the community whenever possible as he had a lot of pride in his community. After his retirement in 2000 from field operating he began his life of travel. Jackie and Alex travelled across Canada and the US, Jamaica, Mexico, Dominican, and many places in between. In 2004- 2007 Jackie and Alex became camp hosts for Moose Lake, Alberta. In 2008 -2015 they were camp attendance at Crane Lake, Alberta. Alex met many people on his journeys that he held close in his heart, he was loved by so many as he was always full of smiles and so much humour. He treated everybody as his equal and everyone was important to him. He will be missed by all who knew him and loved him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Burstall Community Hall on Wednesday January, 20 at 2:00 pm.

BECKER

1927 – 2016
After a long illness, we are saddened by the death of Helmut Becker at the age of 88 years. Born in Schuler on May 10, 1927. He was predeceased by his parents Jacob and Katie Becker. He is survived by two brothers, Edward of Medicine Hat and Harvey of Calgary; one sister Violet Aberle of Taber as well as numerous nieces and nephews and his caregiver of 18 years, Doreen. It was Helmut’s request not to have a formal service. CHOW

With great sadness and much love, the family of Jack Quon Chow announces his passing. With his wife Sau Yung “Susan” Chow at his side, Jack passed away on Friday, January 15, 2016, at the age of 81. Born in Guangdong, China, Jack came to Canada in 1954 and settled in Medicine Hat in 1959. He worked in the restaurant industry for nearly 40 years; he was a partner in the Pink Lantern Restaurant and the Imperial Palace Restaurant. He leaves to cherish his memory: his children—Clara Chow (Sheldon Pelletier) and their children, Gabrielle and Jack; Audrey Chow (Harris Sharples) and their daughter, Ella; Brenda Chow (Naden Krogan) and their children, Hazel and Ivy; and Donna Chow (Robert Lam)—as well as many nieces, nephews, brothers- and sisters-in-law. He was predeceased by his parents, four brothers, and three sisters. The family wishes to thank the dedicated staff at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital, particularly the team in the Renal Unit and Dr. Martin Wong, for their support throughout the years. MARY ANN MAYBERRY

1930 – 2016
Mary Ann Mayberry of Medicine Hat, passed away at the age of 85 years, on Sunday, January 10, 2016 beloved wife of the late George Mayberry. She leaves to cherish her memory daughter Janice (Alan) McWhan of Lousana, Alberta and son Jim (Jackie) Mayberry of Medicine Hat; five grandchildren Jennifer (Cam) Jans, Amanda (Andrew), Megan, and Clayton McWhan and Colton Mayberry, as well as two people who were very dear to her, Aunt Mary Schnell and cousin Jack Kuntz. She was predeceased by her husband George in 2005, and her daughter Linda Robinson Smereka in 2008; two sons-in-law Jerry Robinson and Harry Smereka. Those who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Friday for 1 hour prior to the service. ROBERT SMITH LESLIE

We are saddened by the passing of our beloved father, Robert Smith Leslie on January 12th, 2016, at the age of 93 years. He was born on October 4th, 1922 in Clydebank, Scotland. Robert volunteered to join the Royal Air Force after the Clydebank Blitz in 1941. He came to Medicine Hat in 1943 for pilot training at #34 S.F.T.S., where he met his future wife, Marjorie. After his discharge from the RAF in 1947, he returned to Medicine Hat to marry the woman he loved. Robert worked at Maple Leaf Mills in Medicine Hat, where he was a foreman for over 25 years. He was a spirited man and had a love of life. He was an avid cyclist and hiker. He enjoyed photography and the outdoors. He was a devoted family man. Robert was always willing to try anything, or fix anything, and was usually successful. Robert was predeceased by his wife Marjorie; his parents, William and Henry Leslie; brothers Harry, James and John. He is survived by his two children, Rob and Linda Leslie; two grandchildren, Mark and Ashley Leslie; nieces Helen Armstrong, Una Edgar, Diane Pender; nephews Robbie Pender and Ronald Leslie; grandnephews and grandnieces.
A small family viewing took place at Pattison's on January 14th. Thanks to Dr. Bratvold for his years of care, Dr. Whitfield of palliative care, and the nurses at Carmel Hospice, St. Joseph's Home. As an expression of sympathy donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Robert was courageous and a source of inspiration for everyone.
