1928 ~ GILL ~ 2015

Dorothy Gill of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late Edwin Gill, passed away on Wednesday, April 8th, 2015 at the age of 86 years. Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Reginald (Gail) Gill, Darrell (Sharon) Gill, Wayne Gill and Robert (Kim) Gill; one brother, Robert (Delores) Mutschler; one sister-in-law, Isabel Phillips; one brother-in-law, Norman Gill; special aunt, Tina Hubbs; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, Christian and Louise Mutschler; father and mother-in-law, Benjamin and Helen Gill; one brother, Harry (Lillian) Mutschler; two sisters, Eleanor (Arthur) Oster and Viola (John) Dederer; special uncle, Lloyd Hubbs; two brothers-in-law, Harry (Ida) Gill and George Phillips; one sister-in-law, Edna Gill; and one nephew, Stanley Gill. Dorothy was born on October 29th, 1928 in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan. She married Edwin Gill on July 1st, 1949. Dorothy was great at the multitasking that involved being a young farm wife, whether it was hauling grain, baking, gardening, canning or running after her four children. She had a great sense of humour, was an avid curler and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Dorothy continued to "hit the ground running" until she was confined to a wheel chair. We would like to thank all those who cared for Dorothy at Chinook Village and Masterpiece Living. Beau James Kellough, beloved husband of Terri Kellough of Redcliff, passed away on Thursday, April 9th, 2015 at the age of 33 years. Beau also leaves to cherish his memory his sons, Kade and Jager; father and mother-in-law, Marcel and Rene Desjarlais; brother-in-law, Evan (Chantal) Desjarlais; his mother, Carol; three brothers, Dan (Ginny), Andy (Shannon) and Dave (Nicki); as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Reinhold Babitzke passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at the age of 90 years, beloved husband of Susan Babitzke of Medicine Hat. He also leaves to cherish his memory two children Grant (Karen) Babitzke of Cypress Hills, Saskatchewan and Tamara Bosch (Tony Scarpino) of Medicine Hat. DENNIS KOSOLOFSKI

1928 ~ 2015
Dennis Allan Kosolofski of Medicine Hat, beloved husband of the late Adeline Kosolofski, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2015, at the age of 87 years after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Dennis leaves to cherish his memory one son, Delbert (Leanne); two daughters, Debbie Kosolofski and Kim (Bill) Gill; daughter-in-law, Arlene Kosolofski and their families. He was predeceased by his wife, Adeline, in June of 2009 and one son, Ronald, in May of 2008. Dennis was born in Rosetown, SK. to Dan and Barbara (Hammel) Kosolofski. His family later moved to the Prelate area where he met and married Adeline Charnetski on November 1, 1951. Dennis loved playing Bridge 2 – 3 times per week where he made some of his best friends in his golden years. He was a caring father, grandfather and now great-grandfather who loved to teach the art of card playing, always playing fair but somehow winning nearly every game. A Celebration of Dennis’ life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., on Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant Gerry Getz officiating. EISEN

Judith Ann Eisen (Richards) born January 9th 1956 in Toronto Ontario; passed away suddenly April 7th 2015 at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon. Judy is survived by her loving husband Douglas Eisen of Fox Valley; daughter and son-in law Crystal and Travis Hilton and two beautiful granddaughters Emily and Tayla Hilton all from New Zealand. Her grand girls were the light of her life. Sister in-law and Brother In-law Merna and Roger Prevost of Redcliff Ab; Sister in-law Darlene Eisen; Mother In-law Sheila Eisen of Redcliff AB; Niece’s Leslie-Ann (Bradley)Jensen; Rhonda Draeger; Nephews Brian(Angie) Cook; Derek (Corena) Usher; Dustin (Kerry) Usher and numerous great nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her adopted parents Martin and Dorothy Richards; Biological Mother Donna Nowensky. A celebration of Judy’s life was held at the Assembly of God Church in Maple Creek. Donations can be made to the ICU unit at the St. Paul’s hospital in Saskatoon.
We would like to thank everyone for all of their support during this very difficult time of need. The passing of Judy was such a shock to us all. All of the food and cards and words of support will never be forgotten. My little community constantly amazes me. I have been away from my little town for a long time but whenever I return you welcome me with open and loving arms; this was no exception. You have picked me and my dad up and held us at your heart. MURIEL (SUE) PETERS

Muriel Peters passed away in Medicine Hat April 2, 2015 t the age of 83 years with her loving family at her side.
Muriel was born to Howard and Martha Ellis on April 14, 1931, in Gull Lake Sask. She grew up on a farm West of Verlo, SK. Muriel went to High School in Gull Lake where she lived with her paternal grandmother Grandma Curry. She moved to Calgary in 1949 where she worked at the downtown CIBC as a teller. Within a year she was fast tracked to current accounts due to her work ethic . She worked at Okotoks, AB on weekends as well as at the Gun Range.
Muriel married Fred Peters, with whom she had been long-time friends and from the Verlo area as well, when he came to Calgary and proposed in 1950. They came back to Saskatchewan in 1952 to purchase a farm South of Carmichael up on the Bench. Muriel continued to farm after Fred passed away in February 1968 until Spring of 1981 when she sold the Farm to retire and move to Medicine Hat where she purchased a house in 1982 overlooking the coulees in East Glen Place that reminded her of her beloved prairie hills. As well as being an avid golfer; Muriel with 2 Holes in Ones to her credit as well as numerous Tournament Trophies, she was a member of The Red Hat Bachelorettes and Medicine Hat Legion Auxiliary.
Muriel was pre-deceased by her husband Fred Peters, her parents Howard and Martha Ellis, and her brother Oral Ellis. She is survived by 3 daughters; Mardell – Canmore, AB; Cathy, – Medicine Hat, AB & Debra – Los Angeles , CA. ; Grandchildren – Bill Wells, Jamie Macleod, Charity Peters, Jehri Macleod & Jim Willman; as well as 6 – soon to be 7 Great Grandchildren; Maddison & Logan Wells – Medicine Hat AB; Nicole & Austin Macleod – Canmore, AB; Maximillian, Iona, (Caprice) Coutto – Crystal Cove, California.
A Graveside Ceremony for Muriel was held April 6, 2015 at the Gull Lake Cemetery where she was buried alongside her loving husband Fred.
The Family would like to thank the Staff at the Medicine Hat Hospital; particularly on the 4th and the 6th floors. If friends so desire, donations can be made in Loving Memory of Muriel to the Alzheimer’s Society or Cancer Society.

PATRICIA MARY MOORE

(nee MacAlpine)
October 21, 1932 ~ April 12, 2015
Our wife and mother, Pat, died after a long illness at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Sunday, April 12. While her body failed her, her mind and courage remained with her until the end. Pat will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Brian; daughters, Janet (Mark) Hutchison and Trish Moore (Scott McDonald); grandchildren, Meaghan and Liam Hutchison and sisters, Jean (John) Dykstra and Heather McAlpine. She was predeceased by her older brother, Bruce (June) MacAlpine. Pat was born in Toronto, grew up in Simcoe, Ontario and received her teaching certificate at Brantford Teacher’s College. She met Brian while teaching in a Canadian school in Germany, near where Brian was stationed in the Canadian military. They raised their family in many locations across Canada and Pat worked as en educator whenever possible. Pat showed her commitment to education by completing her degree in History in mid life at Queen’s University. After moving to Medicine Hat in 1981, Pat resumed her full time teaching career at Ross Glen School until her retirement in 1993. Pat will be remembered as a loving wife and mother, a “strict but fair” teacher, an avid reader of mystery novels and for her witty commentary over the daily newspaper. Her family is grateful for the support of the Medicine Hat Public Library Homebound Services, Medicine Hat Home Care and the staff at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital. SHEILA JEAN AVANTHAY

November 25, 1947 ~ April 11, 2015
Sheila Jean Avanthay, beloved wife of Louis Avanthay, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, April 11, 2015. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Darin Avanthay and family, Derek Avanthay and family and Cheryl Martyn and family all of Winnipeg; brother, David (Judy) Mitchell and family of Medicine Hat; brother-in-law, Raymond (Devona) Avanthay and sister-in-law, Bertha Evens both of Winnipeg including numerous friends. Sheila and Louis have nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her parents, David and Eliza Mitchell; Louis’ parents, Morris and Bertha Avanthay; brother-in-law, Albert Avanthay and sister-in-law, Lorraine Avanthay also of Winnipeg. Sheila and Louis shared over 43 wonderful years together. They enjoyed travel (visiting Israel twice) and house renovations. Sheila especially loved designing and planting her many gardens. They were both very hard workers. She upgraded her education by attending Ryerson University and successfully completing the program that led her to managing the fashion department in Eaton’s in Winnipeg for 30 years before retiring. When Sheila and Louis retired to Medicine Hat, Sheila answered God’s call and became involved in a program in her church called, “Celebrate Recovery” a program that seeks to help people who suffer from “hurts, habits and hang-ups” and need to know the love of Jesus. She loved people and loved to reach out to those who were hurting. Sheila often said that her life began when she gave her life to Jesus. They loved to host dinner parties in their home and extended love and respect to all who visited. Sheila was loving and compassionate as well as wise and very practical. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, especially the love of her life, her husband, Louis. Deep gratitude is extended to all who cared for Sheila including, Ann Marie Scott with Palliative Home Care and all those in Palliative Care. A Memorial Service will be celebrated at Hillcrest Church, 3785 – 13 Avenue S.E., Medicine Hat, on Thursday, April 16, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Bob McGougan officiating. Following the service, a time of fellowship and refreshment will be provided in the hall for those who wish to extend their sympathy and love to Louis and the family.
