Mr. Robert Johnson, beloved husband of Mrs. Loretta Johnson of Medicine Hat, passed away on Wednesday, November 12th, 2014 at the age of 79 years. Robert also leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Janice (Doyle) Duncan and Bobbie Jo (Wayne) Wulf and their families. A Celebration of Robert’s Life will be held at SAAMIS CREEKSIDE CENTRE, 11 Dunmore Road SE, on Monday, November 17th, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. with Gary W. Goran officiating. Raymond Eric Ferguson of Fox Valley passed away on Friday, November 7, 2014, at the age of 82 years, beloved husband of the late Dorothy Ferguson. He leaves to cherish his memory four children: his son Roger and Deb, their children Graham and Susan (Austan), Mitch and Kim (Taya, Nolan), Brandy and Rory (Rhett, Carter); his son Dwight and Glenna and their children, Erin and Kevin, Elise and Flint (Sutton), Lane and Nicole, Kayce; his daughter Bonnie and Glenn and their children, Jordan and Abby (Ellie), Braden, Heather; his son Rick and Sue their children, Geoff, Jeremy; He was predeceased by his wife Dorothy in 1981. Raymond was born on December 20, 1931 near Mitchellton, Saskatchewan. In July of 1950 he married Dorothy McKechnie and together they farmed south of Mitchellton where he also worked at the Bishopric Salt Plant. In July of 1966, they moved to Fox Valley when the Ingebrite Salt Plant was being built. Following retirement from the plant, dad continued to make Fox Valley his home. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. (MST) with Life Celebrant, David Townsend officiating. In the presence of her family, Mrs. Frances Steinkey, beloved wife of the late Mr. Jacob (Jack) Steinkey, passed at the Good Samaritan Society in Medicine Hat on Monday, November 10, 2014, at the age of 92 years. She leaves to cherish her memory five children, Lillian (Keith) Dunn, Ethel Steinkey, Richard Steinkey all of Medicine Hat, James (Dayle) Steinkey of Redcliff and Valerie (Henry) Rosendal of Medicine Hat; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She also leaves one brother, Philip Mardian and five sisters, Susana Scherer, Odelia Pincemin, Mary Volk, Regina Materi, and Anne Schlosser, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Frances’ life wil be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Monday, November 17, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Father Philip Le officiating. A private graveside service will be held at Saamis Prairie View Cemetery. Laura Krause of Medicine Hat passed away on Thursday, November 13, 2014, at the age of 82 years, beloved wife of the late Oscar Krause. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Merle (Viona) Krause and Wesley Krause. .NELLIE SPICER
1939 ~ 2014
Nellie Mae Spicer passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Home -Carmel Hospice in Medicine Hat on Tuesday, November 11, 2014, at the age of 74 years. Nellie was the oldest child of Lester and Ellen Somerville. She was born and educated in Rolling Hills, Alberta where she received her primary schooling. Nellie furthered her education by achieving a teaching degree and later in life she became a Diaconal Minister with the United Church of Canada. Nellie was an advocate for the youth and fought for social justice issues in numerous organizations. She loved life and never backed down from any challenge she was faced with. Nellie leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 52 years, George, as well as their children, Lester Spicer, Tom (Dawn) Spicer and Gina (Lance) Meroniak; four grandchildren, Randall and Samantha Spicer and Kelly and Rikki Meroniak. She is also survived by her siblings, Glen (Linora) Somerville, June (Marvin) Lyons, Vera Elson, Earl Somerville, Allen (Carol) Somerville, Ina (Leif) Nielsen, Dean Somerville, Amy Armstrong and Dan (Jessie) Somerville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Stanley (Marj) Spicer, Darcy (Marie) Spicer, Laurie (Cheryl) Spicer, Patsy (Rene) Trefau, Jenny Anderson and Haroldene (Wayne) Ashby as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Nellie was predeceased by her parents, Lester and Ellen as well as one brother Raymond. A Memorial Service in Nellie’s honour will be held later in the spring and will be announced closer to that time.
