.1921 ~ BONAGOFSKY ~ 2014
Joseph “Joe” Bonagofsky of Medicine Hat, beloved husband of the late Mrs. Mary Bonagofsky, passed away on Saturday, August 16th, 2014 at the Sunnyside Nursing Home at the age of 92 years. Joe leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Gloria (Max) Ebelher; his two grandchildren, Maxine (Pat) Volk and Lyle (Tammie) Ebelher; his five great grandchildren, Melissa and Matthew Volk, and Alicia, Temara and Clayton Ebelher. Joe is also survived by two sisters, Katie Mastel and Ann (Frank) Lerner; one sister-in-law, Evelyn Bonagofsky; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Joe was predeceased by his wife, Mary; his parents, Ben and Rose Bonagofsky; four brothers, Clem (Emily), George, Martin and Jack; and one brother-in-law, Adam Mastel. Joe was born in the Fox Valley area, where he farmed. He married Mary Baron on October 26th, 1963 and they continued farming until 1969. They moved to various locations doing odd jobs to keep busy, and then retired to Medicine Hat in 1988. Joe will always be remembered for his whistling while he worked and his red shirts. He loved to play harmonica, sing and play card games with friends and family. Joe will especially be remembered by his daughter Gloria and grandchildren, Maxine and Lyle for always being the dad and grampa he didn’t have to be. Rest in Peace. Vigil Rites (Prayers) will be said at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, on Tuesday, August 19th, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at HOLY FAMILY PARISH, 1451 Strachan Road SE, on Wednesday, August 20th, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. with Father Philip Le, celebrant. A private interment will take place in the Roman Catholic Section at Hillside Cemetery for both Mary & Joe Bonagofsky. Mr. George Retelback beloved husband of Mrs. Kay Retelback of Medicine Hat, passed away on Thursday, August 14th, 2014 at the age of 80 years. George also leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Brad and Rod and extended family. George was predeceased by one son Kirby in 2000. .1959 ~ BROWN ~ 2014
It is with great sadness that the family of Brant Wayne Brown, known to friends as “Brownie”, announce his passing on Monday, August 11th, 2014 at the age of 54 years. Brant will be forever remembered by his three sons, Andrew (Barbara), Justin (Shinobu) and Corey (Hope); their mother and lifelong friend Karen; his brother, Scott (Chere); and sister-in-law, Arlene. Brant will also be remembered by his extended family, including his brother-in-laws, Ed (MJ) and Hank (Bev); as well as his nieces, Terra, Stefanie and Krista; and nephews, Shayne, Seth, Micah and Max.
Growing up in a military family, Brant spent his childhood living in many places with his parents, Bob (predeceased) and Norma (predeceased), along with his two brothers, Dwayne (predeceased) and Scott. The Browns loved Southern Alberta and settled in Suffield and finally in Redcliff/Medicine Hat. Brant graduated from CHHS in 1978 and became employed with CP Rail. Brant loved his career at CP Rail, first as a brakeman then finally as an engineer, the position he held until his retirement. Brant was very proud of his three sons from their sports days to their adult adventures and always looked forward to their calls. Although Brant liked to joke around, he took hockey seriously and loved watching the Calgary Flames. Brant’s family and friends will never forget his sense of humor and his ability to crack a joke at any occasion. A Graveside Service will be held at Redcliff Cemetery on Friday, August 22, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. with Gary W. Goran officiating. You are further invited to share this day with Brant’s family, in a time of fellowship to be held at the Redcliff Royal Canadian Legion, 302 Broadway Avenue E, following the graveside service. .EDWARD CODD
With his loving family by his side, Edward Ernest Codd went to be with his Lord on Sunday, August 17, 2014, at the age of 82 years. Ed was born in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan on June 27, 1932, the oldest son to Ernest and Mabel Codd. He was predeceased by both his parents and his eldest son, Wesley Alan Codd. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 58 years, Elizabeth; son, Richard and his children, Natawni, Lawson and Chayton; daughter, Wanda (Michael) Anctil and their children, Laura (Mike), Lisa (Damien) and Ashley (Ashton) Smith; daughter, Denice (Keith) Stewart and their girls, Hailey and Shelby. Edward’s life will be celebrated at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., on Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant Gerry Getz officiating.
