.FAITH HELEN BUCKHOLZ (KELLAR)
November 15, 1925 – July 10, 2014
Ourbeloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully at the age of 88 years in Victoria, BC. Faith was born the youngest of five children to Bertha and William Kellar in Medicine Hat, AB, where she grew up and married the love of her life, Edwin Buckholz. She devoted her life to caring for the family home and raising theirfour children, Sharlene (Denis Desjardins) of Victoria BC, Daryl (Nancy McLean) of Cochrane AB, Brian (Maureen), of Calgary AB and Trudy (Brad Gassoff) of Wells BC. As we got older, Mom worked outside the home as a saleswoman, and as secretary at Medicine Hat General Hospital and several schools in the Medicine Hat District. We all have Cherished Memories of our many family camping trips, backyard barbecues, family reunions, roadtrips to the Okanagan and Vancouver to visit family, and many Christmases spent on MacArthur’s farm at Gleichen. After retirement, Mom and Dad enjoyed travelling in their motorhome, cruises to exotic places around the world, square-dancing and ballroom dancing (Gold medal winners 1986 Alberta Senior Games), and numerous potluck dinners and cardgames with friends. Mom’s zest for life forged many lasting and close friendships. Mom’s greatest joy in life were her seven grandchildren, Brent, Maegan, Kurtis, Sarah, Heather, Laura, Adam; and eight great- grandchildren, Madyson, Owen, Brooklyn, Lana, Brayden, Carmen, Colter and Levi. Faith was predeceased by her loving husband Edwin Buckholz in 2008, her parents William (1954) and Bertha (1960) Kellar, and her brothers, Carroll and Earl, and sisters, Frances Rost-Spicer and Clara Bradley- White-Kruse. Also left to mourn are many nieces and nephews, cousins, and life-long friends. The family would like to thank the staff at the Priory Hospital in Victoria BC for their compassion, loving care, and genuine affection for our mother in the finals four months of her life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada, 401D 3rd Street SE, Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 0G8 or a charity of the donor’s choice. The graveside service will be held in the Hillside Cemetery on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. Those who wish to attend are asked to meet inside the cemetery gates at 12:45 p.m. Following the graveside service, you are invited to further celebrate Faith’s life with her family in the Ortona Room of the Royal Canadian Legion, (702 – 2 St. SE).
