Evelyn Marie Delwo passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday May 31, 2014 at the age of 74 years. Evelyn will be greatly missed by her children, Rod (Ruth), Darryl (Sherrie), Gordon (Renata), Nicole (Michael); her grandchildren Lindsay, Kailie-Lynne, Braedon, Owen, Andrea and Olivia; and by her sisters Simone, Adele, Irene and brother Marcel. It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Jaylyn Danielle Layton passed away on Sunday, June 1, 2014, at the age of 15 years. She leaves to cherish her memory her parents, Bruce and Holly Layton of Medicine Hat, two brothers Mitchell and Brayden; her grandparents, Tim (Irene) Hammel and John Layton all of Medicine Hat, Debbie (Brian) Cummings of Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia; her aunts and uncles, Drew Layton, Barb Layton, David Cummings and Darwin (Elaine) Hammel and their families. She was predeceased by her grandmother, Eileen Layton on January 1, 2008. Jaylyn Danielle Layton, better known as “JJ”, passed away in her home after a courageous battle with cancer. She went to St .Patrick’s Elementary School, Notre Dame Academy and then attended grade 10 at Monsignor McCoy High School. She loved doing many athletic activities including: skiing, basketball, skateboarding, and dirt biking. She was very adventurous, outgoing, and never afraid to try anything. She also liked playing video games, singing, playing the drums, and the ukulele. She loved spending time with her friends and teasing her family. She was known for her quiet demeanor but great sense of humor. It is with sadness that family of Paul Marshall Hannah, beloved husband of the late Mrs. Katherine Hannah, announce his passing in Medicine Hat, AB., on Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at the age of 82 years. Paul was born in Shaunavon, SK., on June 28, 1931, the fifth child of seven to Clarence Hannah and Clarisse Audette. He received his primary education in rural Hannahville School south of Shaunavon, a brief two year period in Mankota and the balance of his formal education in Vancouver at St. Patrick’s Catholic School and Pitman Business College. After graduation, he returned to Mankota to assist his father in managing the family farm equipment dealership. Paul married Katherine Bechal, October 15th, 1952, from this time up to 1966, the family grew to six children. In 1973, Paul purchased a GM automotive dealership in Assiniboia and operated it until 1983. That year, they began spending part of the winters in Mesa, Arizona and eventually purchased a winter property there. Following their move to Medicine Hat in 1988, they continued to enjoy their winters south. Paul continued to reside in Medicine Hat until his untimely passing. Paul is survived by his dear friend and companion, Dorothy Bien and her family; Paul’s six children and their families son, Vincent and Genevieve (nee Morin) Hannah, grandson, Shaun (Amy nee Mattison), greatgrandchildren, Emma and Owen; grandson, Kim (deceased) (Kelly nee Gustafson), great-grandchildren, Mattison and Cordell; granddaughter, Jill (Dave) Tanner, great-grandchildren, Sam, Jayden, Kendall; granddaughter, Pamela (Matt) Billinghurst, great-grandchildren, Sophie and Caleb; grandson, Gene (deceased), granddaughter, Rae and companion Joe Corcoran; daughter, Claire (nee Hannah) (Dave Chang), grandchildren, Leah, Shea, Alana (David) Lopez; daughter, Monica Hannah; son, Christopher (Elaine nee Brunt) Hannah, grandchildren, Kasia, Keelan and Patsy; son, Jerome (Joan nee Sullivan) Hannah, grandchildren, Luke and Erin; daughter, Selena Cardinal (nee Hannah), grandchildren, Peyton, Katie and Rhett. Paul is also survived by a sister, Marcella and Frank (deceased) Duffy; sister, Theresa (Marcel) Fauchon; sister-in-law, Lucie Hannah Lalonde; special nieces, Caroline Hannah, Danielle Hannah (Ross Miller), children, Oliver, Lucie, Alice and Nathalie Hannah (Sean Tomalty), children, Alise, Emma, Kaitlin and Gerald; brother-in-law, Nick Bechal; sisters-in-law, Cecile Bechal (Carriere) and Maggie Bechal. Paul was predeceased by his wife of 41 years, Katherine (nee Bechal); parents, Clarence and Clarisse Hannah (nee Audette); brother, Lorne (Dorothy nee Pedlar) Hannah; brothers, Gerry Hannah and Marcel Hannah (in infancy) and a sister, Dorothy (in infancy). Vigil Prayers were recited at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., on Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass was celebrated at Holy Family Parish, 1451 Strachan Road S.E., Medicine Hat, AB., on Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at 1:00 p.m., with Reverend Father Philip Le celebrant. It is with heartfelt sadness that the family of Greg Shaw announces his passing on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at the age of 57 years.
Greg was born July 2, 1956 in Quebec. At a young age, he moved with his family to Medicine Hat where spent his childhood and attended the local schools. In 1976, Greg graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked for Telus for a short time, and then returned to the University of Calgary where he earned a Masters degree in Engineering. He taught at Medicine Hat College for a few years before going to the University of Alberta where he received a PhD in Electrical Engineering.
For the past 25 years, Greg resided in Calgary where he worked at the University of Calgary in the Heritage Medical Centre as a researcher. In addition, Greg was a key developer at Etymotic Research in Chicago, focusing on the development of hearing testing instruments. His contributions helped create the best selling hearing testing instrument in the world. It is estimated that over 100 million ears have been tested using the technology he helped create. He is a named inventor on several US patents and numerous international patents.
Greg was a wonderful son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend. He valued each relationship greatly. He was compassionate, kind, sensitive and willing to help each of us whenever he could.
Greg had a good sense of humor and a quick wit – he liked to laugh and make others laugh too. He also had a sweet tooth, and loved to eat white cake and other desserts!!! In his free time, Greg loved to travel and explore new places. He enjoyed the outdoors – hiking, skiing and camping. He was an avid movie watcher.
Greg will be greatly missed by his mother, Lorna Shaw, his sister Carol Shaw and special friend Honey Chan. He is also survived by extended family, Ross and Shirley Glen, Shirley and Ted Connolly, Cathy, Dave and Sarah Orr, Debbie and Rob, Cassandra and Dana Will; and his furry best friend Buzzy.
Greg was predeceased by his father, Ridley Shaw, grandparents, Jennie and Norman Shaw and Phyllis and Bill Glen. The family would like to express our thanks for the kind care that was given to Greg at the Sarcee Hospice.
A Celebration of Greg’s life will be held at The Earl Grey Golf and Country Club on Friday, June 6, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. Please forward condolences through http://www.hffs.com.
