Edward leaves to cherish in his memory his wife, Gladys; his son, Ken (Marilyn) Miller; his grandchildren, Brent Miller (Sarah Giles), Andrea Miller (Brent Hopfauf), Sonia (Tony) Leahy, Landyn Schnell; his son-in-law, Glen Schnell (Victoria Westwood); sisters, Elsie Beres and Anna (Clarence) Stickel; sister-in-law, Marjorie Jeske; and many nieces and nephews. Edward was predeceased by his daughter, Laura Schnell in 2008; brothers, Henry, Emmanuel, Emil and Bill; sisters, Ida Christiaens and Emma Heckenliable. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dale Anthony Heidrick on Tuesday, February 18th, 2014 at the age of 56 years. He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Carri (Brandon) Robinson and their son Logan, and Andrea Heidrick; his mother, Frances Heidrick; brothers and sisters, Wayne (Sandy) Heidrick, Barry Heidrick, Karen (Don) Heller, Audrey (Rick) Flaig and Lynn Durbeniuk (Grant Knodel); brother-in-law, John (Sandy) Corcoran; nieces and nephews, Stacy, Kelly, Sean, Shane, Kerry, Ryan, Michael, Allison, Garrett, Brandon, Kara, Ashley, Brianna and Kaitlyn. He was predeceased by his father, Ralph; and his sister, Gerrie. Dale was born September 1st, 1957 in Empress, Alberta and was raised in Medicine Hat. He was quick to smile, and slow to judge. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Warren Herbert Drefs, Friday, February 21, 2014 at the age of 78 years. Warren will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 52 years, Arlene, his daughters Nadine (Steve), Michelle (Galen) and Jacqueline (Glenn) and his grandchildren Stephanie, Vanessa, Eric, Nadina and Scott. He also leaves to cherish his memory his extended family and many friends. Warren was born June 12, 1935 in Biggar Saskatchewan to Rosalie and Henry Drefs. From his early years on the family farm, farming remained an important part of Warren’s life. Over the years Warren spent countless hours on his farms first in New Norway and then in Medicine Hat. His hands were a constant reminder of the years of hard work he so enjoyed. A strong contributor to his community, Warren served for 28 years as General Foreman/Manager of Communications and Electronics with the City of Medicine Hat. He was a member of the Palliser Triangle Health Advisory Council, the Alberta Safety Code Council and Chairman of the Board of Southview Church of God. He also enjoyed coordinating the Sound System at the Medicine Hat Stampede for many years. While an accomplished and talented individual, Warren will most be remembered by his family for being a Godly man and a loving husband, father and grandfather. 1943 ~ 2014
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Herbert Roy Dewalt, beloved husband of the late Margaret Rose Dewalt nee Carr, announce his passing at the Riverview Care Centre on Friday, February 21, 2014, at the age of 70 years. Herb was raised southeast of Medicine Hat by his mother, Rosie and lived most of his life in Medicine Hat with the exception of moving a few times to work away when necessary. He had two sons, Robert and Darcy with his first wife Margery (nee McLaren) Dewalt. In 1990, he married Barb (nee Pappaquash) Dewalt and in 2009, he married Margaret “Maggie” (nee Carr) Dewalt. He was a long term steward of his charges spending more than 30 years at Wolfery’s Dairy, Kappler Dairy and the Hatview Dairy Farm. His happiest days were spent tending to the cows in the early morning sunshine. In his working years, his evenings were spent with friends often at the bowling alley or as a young man fishing with his friend, Victor. To friends, Herb was a hardworking man who enjoyed the company of family, the Medicine Hat News, a bottle of Pepsi and chocolate bar. Left to cherish his memory are is sons, Darcy (Christy) Dewalt their daughters, Niya and Orla; Robert (Bernadeth) Dewalt and their sons, William and John; his brothers, Ruben (Ethyl) Dewalt and Harold Dewalt; sister-in-law, Dianne Dewalt (wife of Sam) and his best friend, Victor Mellinger. Herb was predeceased by his last wife, Margaret (Carr) Dewalt (2012); mother, Rosina “Rosie” (Adams) (Dewalt) Wodham (1992); sister-in-law, Marj Dewalt (2014); brothers, Sam Dewalt and Art Dewalt; sister, Frieda Butgereit. August 20, 1917 – February 22, 2014

Anne Klaiber, incredible woman, cherished wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at The Beverly Centre Lake Midnapore on the afternoon of Saturday, February 22, 2014. Anne was a wonderful mix of warmth and strength, love and generosity. Anne’s cooking was legendary and she welcomed every person, be they stranger or friend, into her home with an open heart, good food and lively conversation. Her hugs were the warmest of hugs, which made everything seem right in the world. She was always happiest when surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Anne was predeceased by her loving husband Archie; her brother Elmore; and her great-grandson Quinlan. She is survived by her three sons, Bruce (Isabelle), Grant (Dona), and Dean (Nancy). She also leaves behind her greatest legacy, her grandchildren Andrea (Dennis), Brad (Jennifer), Elizabeth, Candice (Scott), Jeff (Eniko), Kristy, Francis (Carrie) and Katy; and her great-grandchildren Cooper, Tucker, Brock, Brady, Clara, Mary, Kobrin, Ariel, Kiana and Kora. We wish to express our deep gratitude to Cathy Bosiak and Cathy Liddle, who loved Anne like family, preserving her health and dignity over the past six years. January 26, 1928 ~ February 22, 2014

Margaret Anne Mattson passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Home Carmel Hospice on Saturday, February 22, 2014, at the age of 86 years. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Alvin Mattson, in August of 2013. Left to cherish Marg’s memory are her four children, Maureen Oster, Gordon (Cheryl) Mattson, Janice (Wes) Archer and Wayne Mattson (Sharla Butler). She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Simonne Flynn (Medicine Hat), Ruth Gallagher (Redwood City, CA.), Irene Duncan (Winnipeg, MB.), Joyce Cutts (Niagara Falls, ON.), Enid (Bob) Plumb (Smokey Lake, AB.) and Joyce Mattson (Medicine Hat). Her memory will be treasured in the hearts of her 11 grandchildren, Jennifer, Stacey, Melanie (Steve), Heather (Jason), Rhianna (Will), Brennan (Dyan), Melinda (Neil), Ashley (Tyler), Alexandra, Danika and Cian as well as 16 great-grandchildren. Margaret was predeceased by her parents, Leonardand Etta Flynn; sister, Marion (Bill) Graham; brothers, Leonard (Leone) Flynn and Lyle Flynn; grandson, Jason Oster and son-in-law, Gordon Oster. Margaret was born and raised in Medicine Hat and worked at Maple Leaf Mills until marrying the love of her life, Alvin, following his return from the war. They made Medicine Hat their home where they raised their four children. She was a dedicated and loving mother and caring for her family was her greatest love and ultimate achievement. Margaret loved family gatherings, long walks and was a valued lifetime member of Westminster United Church. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. A Private family interment will take place prior to the service.
