Mrs. Gloria Maser of Medicine Hat, passed away peacefully with her children by her side on Monday, November 11th, 2013 at the age of 76 years. The Memorial Service will be held today in SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, at 1:00 p.m. with Gary W. Goran officiating. Memorial gifts in Gloria’s memory may be made to the Charity of One’s Choice. .It was a cool fall day that greeted family in the peaceful surroundings of Hillside Cemetery as the life of Arthur Kurpjuweit was honoured and remembered. Pastor Clarence Knodel was privileged to share scripture, words of encouragement and words of committal for his long-time friend. The soft sounds of some of Arthur’s favorite selections echoed throughout the cemetery as everyone present reflected on their many memories of Arthur… a fitting farewell.
A tribute of love,

.Family and friends of Ervin Hamilton united last week to pay tribute to a life that inspired many. Rev. Hillson led the service with comforting words and scripture… a candle lighting ceremony made for a time of peace and thoughtful reflection as the song “To Where You Are” softly played… tributes from family members provided a personal touch lending evidence of how much Erv was loved… a poem “High Flight” was read before a video tribute took us back in time displaying his days as a Fighter Pilot while the Top Gun theme song, “Danger Zone” could be heard… the distinguished sound of the bagpipes echoed as the service came to a close and marked the end of a wonderful celebration.
Where never lark, or even eagle flew –
And, while with silent, lifting mind I trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand and touched
the face of God.

Ruth Florence Haskell (nee Tillemann) of Medicine Hat passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2013, at the age of 87 years, beloved wife of the late Harold Haskell. She leaves to cherish her memory her five children, Roger Haskell of Calgary, Joyce Ayers (Neville Plummer) of Parksville, B.C., Beverly (Peter) Rogers of Calgary, Karen (Wayne) Jackson of Regina and Doug (Jane) Haskell of Medicine Hat; her grandchildren, Patti (Scott) Hull, Cherylyn Ayers (Randy Simpson), Heidi Ayers, Salena Bernhardt (Ian Holmes), Nathan (Joanna) Bernhardt, Elizabeth (Nathan) Ebenal, Christie (Adam) Olson, Chris Haskell (Amy Kidner), Matt Haskell (Brittany Marshall), Josh Haskell and Tianna Haskell (Jeff Manley); her great grandchildren, Avery, Ben, Veronica, Noah, Zane, Seth, Kalob, Warner, Holden, Soren, Mazie and Jace; three sisters, Emma (Alvin) Manske of Calgary, Lenora (Bev) Woods and Pearl (Reginald) Atchison, all of Medicine Hat as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Gustave and Katherine Tillemann; her husband, Harold on October 4, 1989; one grandson, Warren Ayers; four brothers, Paul Tilleman, Gustavein Tillemann Jr. and twins, Alfred and Fredrick in infancy and three sisters, Ella Miller, Peggy Bennitz and Lena Dick. Ruth was born and raised on the family farm, just south of Horsham, Saskatchewan on September 17, 1944, she married the love of her life, Harold. They lived in Horsham and together ran the family general store there until 1963. They moved to Medicine Hat and lived in the family home on 12 St NE. After living in several other residences, her last home was at Sunnyside, where she loved her friends and thoroughly enjoyed a variety of activities, including Remember When – where she was able to tell all her tales of her life growing up on the farm, Newspaper Reading, Bible Study and various other recreational activities. She was blessed by the numerous caring staff at Sunnyside and Dr. Bratvold was her wonderful physician for many years. Her faith was always very important to her and she maintained a deep trust in God. Ruth’s children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. She will be sadly missed and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Private family viewing will take place at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Sunday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., friends who wish to pay their respects may do so on Monday, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:55 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Monday, November 18, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Robert Findley officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. Pierre Vroom passed away in Medicine Hat on Monday, November 11, 2013, at the age of 57 years. A Celebration of Pierre’s life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat, on Saturday, November 16, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Barrett Scheske officiating. Interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery following the service.
