.1923 ~ BAKER ~ 2013
Mr. Robert “Bob” Milton Baker of Medicine Hat, passed away on Monday, November 4th, 2013 at the age of 90 years. Bob leaves to cherish his memory his nephew, Ken (Jeannie) Baker and their children, Matthew, Ryan, Julie, Taisha, Susan, Gwendolyn and their children; Ken’s adopted sister, Kathy Dompierre; very dear, special friends, Larry (Tammy) Wall, Bill (Jeannette), Martin and Roland (Vicki) Press; as well as his four-legged buddy, Jack (Larry & Tammy’s puppy), whom Bob would spend time with while the two were away at work. Although he never did have a pet of his own he became very attached to Jack. Bob was born on May 12th, 1923 in Milton, Ontario where his middle name came from. He worked in the oilfield until pursuing a career in pipe-fitting and becoming employed at the Methanex plant where he worked until his retirement. In his younger days Bob enjoyed duck hunting and always took great pride in his yard, often getting frustrated with the pine trees in his front yard as they “ruined his grass”, he would say. Bob resided at Riverview Care Centre until his passing. The Funeral Service will be held in SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, on Friday, November 8th, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. with Gary W. Frieda Deering of Medicine Hat, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2013, at the age of 96 years, beloved wife of the late Emil Deering. She leaves to cherish her memory two children, Loretta (Adam) Schmaltz and Joyce Anderson all of Medicine Hat; nine grandchildren, Gwen (Blaine) Middleton, Kim (Glen) Renwick, Brian (Michelle) Schmaltz, Steven (Wendy) Schmaltz, Lori Anderson, Bonnie (Brian) Hachey, Dean Deering, Renae Deering (Bret Roe) and Dawn Deering; 22 great grandchildren, nine great great grandchildren, two sisters, Lorna Earl and Ida Chambers both of Medicine Hat as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Martha and Fred Seitz; her husband Emil on March 13, 1972; one son, Dennis in 1998; three grandchildren, Wesley Schlenker, Sandra Schlenker and Rodney Schlenker; two sisters, Helen Aman and Eva Seitz. The family of Mary Newton announce her passing which occurred at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Saturday, November 2, 2013, at the age of 91 years. Cecilia Mary Newton (nee Hinton) was born on January 12, 1922, in Birkenhead, England. Mary married the love of her life, Fred, in 1941 and they remained married for 58 years until his passing. In her teens, she found her true calling as a nurse, a career that lasted much of her life. After starting a family and living in Stoke-on-Trent for several years, they both decided to start a new life in Canada. Fred immigrated to Canada first in 1954, settling in Medicine Hat to work at the potteries. Mary followed him with children, David, William and Louise in 1955. Her greatest joy was her family and friends and she was happiest when she was needed and could care for others. She loved to host parties and the Newton house was well known for its gatherings. She was extraordinarily generous with her love, time, money, and possessions. She gave much to those she felt needed it more than her and will be fondly remembered by her family and all those she adopted who called her “mom” and “aunty Mary”. Mary is survived by her children, William Newton, Louise (Norm) Vernal, Michael (Linda) Newton, Maureen Newton and daughter-in-law, Jeanette Newton; grandchildren, Christopher (Jennifer) Newton, Timothy (Olga) Newton, Lenor Wakeling, John (Tracy) Vernal, Karen (Darren) Keddie, Sarah Newton, Jeremiah Newton, Tanya (Alfredo) Molleda, Adam Newton and Sam Villeneuve; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Joel, Logan, Bethany, Olivia, Rylan, Shandri, Makayla, Ezra, Adrian, Gavin and Andrew. She is also survived by her brother, William Hinton (New Zealand) and sister, Joan Scales (England). It is with heavy hearts that the family of Julia Pauline Glover, beloved wife of the late Carl Glover, announce her peaceful passing while at the Masterpiece River Ridge on Friday, November 1, 2013, at the age of 89 years. Pauline was born to Lottie Mae and Orson Wallis on December 30, 1923 in Dixville, Quebec. She is survived by her children, Gerald (Sandy) Wallis of Quebec, Rosalind (John) Daily of New Brunswick, Sharon (Paul) Tunbridge of Medicine Hat, Jim Burnet and Bob Burnet of Ontario; grandson, Jim (France) French and great-grandson, Jeff of Ontario and sister, Marian Kelly of Charteris, Quebec. Pauline was predeceased by her parents, Lottie Mae and Orson Wallis; first husband, Cecil Churcher, second husband, Carl Glover and special friend, Gordon Ball; daughter, Shirley McCombs; brothers, Gerald and Eric; sisters, Kathleen and Elinor; sister-in-law, Elsie; brothers-in-law, Gerald and Stan.
