Mrs. Regina Fuchs of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late Mr. John Fuchs, passed away on Tuesday, October 29th, 2013 at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital Palliative Care at the age of 89 years. The Funeral Service will be held in VICTORY LUTHERAN CHURCH, on Monday, November 4th, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Joe Leavengood and Diaconal Minister Lila de Waal co- officiating. Kathleen “Nikki” Noreen Chisholm of Medicine Hat, passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at the age of 83 years, beloved wife of the late Alex Chisholm. She leaves to cherish her memory six children, Sharon Mellor, Heather DeGagne, Colin (Christine) Chisholm, Kirby Chisholm, Velvet (Darren) Swaren and Shane (Pamela) Chisholm all of Medicine Hat; fifteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Dobie and Sheila (Jack) Young; two brothers, Noel (Lorraine) Kirby and George (Shirley) Kirby; one sister-in-law, Irene Kirby as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Luke and Lily Kirby; her husband, Alex; one son-in-law, David Mellor; one granddaughter, Stephanie Chisholm; one brother, Luke Kirby; one sister, Patsy, in childhood and one brother-in-law, Jim Dobie. Nikki was born in Vancouver and moved to Copper Mountain B.C. when she was 8 years old. She graduated from high school in 1948 at the top of her class (the only grade 12 student that year). On May 22, 1952 Nikki married Alex Chisholm. They spent their honeymoon travelling to Medicine Hat, which became their new home. Nikki and Alex raised six children while building their company, Chisholm Electric, where she was the secretary for many years. She enjoyed golfing and travelling. Our family would like to thank the staff at Masterpiece, the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital 4 West and 2 North, Carmel Hospice (St. Joseph’s Home) as well as Dr. Jeraj and the Crescent Heights Medical Clinic. Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Monday, from 9:00 to 10:55 a.m. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Monday, November 4, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Life Celebrant, David Townsend. 1933 ~ 2013
Ervin Edward Hamilton, RCAF Capt. Ret. passed away peacefully on October 30, 2013, at the age of 79. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Marguerite Marie (nee Saucier) Hamilton; son, Douglas (Marian) Hamilton; daughter, Ann (Mike) Christie; grandsons, Josh and Ari Warhaft; brother, Clifford Hamilton and numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and brothers, Arnold, William and sister, Eileen. Erv loved to fly and was a pilot in the Canadian Air Force from 1955-76, where he flew fighter aircraft and helicopters. He was active in the Experimental Aircraft Assoc. and operated Air Switch Helicopters from 1976-87. He built his own airplane, loved to hunt, and enjoyed many other shooting sports. He will be sorely missed by family and friends. Pauline was born to Lottie Mae and Orson Wallis on December 30, 1923 in Dixville, Quebec. She is survived by her children, Gerald (Sandy)?Wallis of Quebec, Rosalind (John) Daily of New Brunswick, Sharon (Paul) Tunbridge of Medicine Hat, Jim Burnet and?Bob Burnet of Ontario; grandson, Jim (France) French and great-grandson, Jeff of Ontario and sister, Marian Kelly of Charteris, Quebec. Pauline was predeceased by her parents, Lottie Mae and?Orson Wallis; first husband, Cecil Churcher, second husband, Carl Glover and special friend, Gordon Ball; daughter, Shirley McCombs; brothers, Gerald and Eric; sisters, Kathleen and Elinor; sister-in-law, Elsie; brothers-in-law, Gerald and Stan. It is with sadness that the family of Ralph Moss, beloved husband of Shirley, announce his passing while surrounded by his family in the Palliative Care Unit at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at the age of 87 years. Ralph was born in Grand Falls, Newfoundland and attended Mount Allison University and the Aeronautical Institute, Chicago. He applied his knowledge while he worked for the Department of Defense Research at Suffield, where he dedicated himself for 35 years before retirement. He married the love of his life, Shirley Dawn Fenwick, on July 2, 1958 in Hartland, New Brunswick. Ralph was a faithful member of the Temple Baptist Church in Medicine Hat. A man of faith, he loved helping others. He enjoyed telling stories and catching everyone with his puns and jokes. Some of Ralph’s most memorable moments were vacationing in Japan, hiking, fishing, camping, walking his dog and time spent with his grandchildren. Ralph’s memory will be forever cherished in the hearts of his family: loving wife, Shirley; son, Pastor Robert (Karin)?Moss of Esterhazy, SK.; daughter, Margaret (Dr. Scott)?Hennes of Turlock, CA.; grandchildren, Megan Hennes, Lauren Hennes and Ethan Hennes; brothers and sisters-in-law, Art and Ruth Stucki, Murray and?Ilse Fenwick, Wayne and?Ardith McLaughlin, Phyllis and?Charles Connell as well as numerous nieces, nephews and first cousins from Canada and the USA, whom he cherished and enjoyed keeping in touch with. Michael Morley along with his sons sadly announces the passing of their loving wife and mum, Val Morley on October 30, 2013 at the age of 57 years. Valerie Rae Pritchard was born on October 11, 1956 in Cartwright, Manitoba near the Pritchard family farm. She had three older siblings with a baby sister to follow. Unfortunately her parents had to auction the farm due to her dad’s health issues following WWII. Val started grade one in Roblin, Manitoba where her dad worked with passion helping other veterans at Veterans Land Act. Weekends were spent enjoying the Duck Mountains. The family moved to Brandon, Manitoba in the summer of 1967. Her parents towed a “compact” trailer with the two youngest girls across Canada – Atlantic Ocean one summer; the Pacific Ocean the next. Valerie completed grade 12 and first year university in Brandon. She then transferred to the University of Manitoba where she obtained a degree in psychology in 1977 as well as lifelong friends and memories while living at U.C. Residence. An even more valuable life education took place during a backpacking trip to Europe in 1977 with a dear friend. Many friends had already moved to Alberta. Valerie followed the trend attending the University of Lethbridge and graduated in 1980 with a Bachelor of Education (with Great Distinction). By September she was a fulltime staff member at Crescent Heights High School. Students, families and colleagues made this a wonderful workplace for her. She remained a staff member until her retirement in June of 2012; however, her active participation at work had been curtailed for four years due to health issues. Shortly after moving to Medicine Hat, Val met Michael and married the love of her life, July 1982. They completed their family with two sons, Logan and Braden. Val loved her boys. She actually enjoyed being a sports mum, organizing tournaments, and even the bus trips! No matter the journey they chose, Val and Mike loved their sons unconditionally. In the summer of 1995, Val and the boys moved to Pincher Creek, Alberta where Mike was working. As a family they fell in love with the mountains and dragged the boys along on many adventures. Unfortunately, cancer placed a curve in life’s road for Val in 1996. So by September she and the boys returned to Medicine Hat to be close to family. Val also returned part-time to Crescent Heights High School (like a home to her) where she eventually became a member of the counselling office. The family’s love of the mountains led to the purchase of a lot in the hamlet of Beaver Mines. Val and Mike’s little home took 15 years of summer projects to complete; but at any stage of construction, family and friends were always welcome to join in on mountain activities. Val was too busy planning all the activities to be a fussy host. But you were sure to leave the cabin with special memories. Val loved the view, the air, the friends and all the opportunities to be active winter and summer. Following 12 years of remission, cancer once again became a part of Val’s life. For as long as possible her approach was to live every moment without being controlled by cancer. She loved her hats and accessories and once she knew her chemo’s routine, she had PLANS! to keep up, Mike also retired. They enjoyed many winter getaways and trips to the Maritimes for two summers. Val’s love of life will be carried on by her Michael. Her sons, Logan and Braden, each carry a very special part of her heart as her mum’s love is never-ending XO. She will be sadly missed by her Manitoba family: Murray (Audrey) Pritchard, Trudy (Bill) Gray, Shirley (Grant Watson, Faye (Doug) Allison. Val maintained special relationships with her nieces and nephews and their families through countless trips to Manitoba. Especially lively family gatherings kept these family ties. She was predeceased by her father Evans 1982, her grandma Jean 2000, stepfather Don 2012 and most sadly, her mother Gwen 2012. The surviving Morley family includes: Frances Morley (Don 2004) and Jim and Lis (Oakville, Ontario) and their children Amanda and Derek. Mike’s sister, Donna (Brian) Schneider and their three children are a very special part of Val’s life. Their families have grown together sharing holidays, celebrations and recently weddings. Auntie Val loved Lindy (Darrell), Janay (Kyrk) and Rylan (Amy) so very much. The funeral service will be held in the Cypress Centre (2055 21st Ave SE) on Monday, November 4, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant, David Townsend.
