Bridge Brass strikes a chord at Garden Party

LETHBRIDGE HERALDapulido@lethbridgeherald.com The Bridge Brass Quintet offered members of the community an opportunity to enjoy their music while taking a break from the heat, as part of the Garden party in Galt Gardens Wednesday.As the Allied Arts Council and the Southern Alberta Art Gallery in conjunction with the City of Lethbridge continue to bring live music, performance art and art making to Galt Gardens on Wednesdays this month, attendees had the opportunity to take part in the air dry clay vases making activity, while listening to the sounds of the Bridge Brass Quintet.
Bridge Brass members Don Robb and Ken Lewis spoke to the Herald after performing on the park’s stage and said they were happy to play regardless of the high temperature on Wednesday.
“I’m really happy that we get to do music down here in this park. This park is for everybody and music can bring people together, so we had a good time,” said Robb.
He said they played music they thought everybody could enjoy and was happy to see children dancing to it.
 “There’s a few kids up dancing and people sitting back listening and enjoying, so we’re happy we’re able to do it,” said Robb.
He said they got involved with the Garden Party when they saw an invitation for artist to take part, as they love playing for the community.
“Music is one of those things that everybody can enjoy at whatever level they want, they can stand up and dance or just sit there and enjoy it. It could give them some sense of relaxation and maybe it gets rid of a few cares of the world for a little while,” said Robb.
Lewis said they enjoy playing music so much they have been doing it for over 30 years and are still going strong.
“We’re loving every minute of it and we love playing for civic events around the community,” said Lewis.
He said that bringing music to Galt Gardens is a great way to bring people into it.
“It’s a really great way to get our park exposed to everyone and a reason to come down here,” said Lewis.
The last Garden Party will take place next Wednesday and people will be able to take part of circular weaving while enjoying the Little Lethbridge Opera Theatre. Follow @APulidoHerald on Twitter 4
