Photo Fusion images capture inspiration

The Lethbridge Photography Club is calling all shutterbugs to come out to its free Photo Fusion event this Monday and Tuesday at Casa from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. for two evenings of digital shows presented by members, showcasing their pictures to the public.
“We have done this for a long time, we used to do it when it was slides! Now we have moved to digital,” said Ralph Arnold, event organizer and secretary with the club.
“It’s two nights of digital shows, each presentation is around six-minutes long. Exploring all kinds of topics like travel, macro photography like bugs, some of the pandemic, and sports. There is always a wide variety and a bunch of different styles and techniques. It is mind blowing.”
Audiences will have an opportunity to view amazing pictures from members, but also a chance to ask questions about techniques and skills.
“Generally the photographers are there, they’ll be able to go buttonhole a person and ask them some questions. It’s pretty interactive in that way,” said Arnold. “We have close to 20 presenters and multiple shows, so if things work out, we will have two full nights.”
Presenters include John Krampl, Chris Oates, Donna Kroeger, and Judy Gundlock. Krampl just recently presented his animal photography in the Lethbridge area at an event hosted by the Friends of the Helen Schuler Nature Centre Society back in October.
Photography is a skill many people are turning to, looking to capture the beauty around them or taking up a new hobby.
“We hosted a ‘get to know your camera’ session in January, because a lot of people got cameras for Christmas. We had a lot of general public interest, and we got at least four new members,” said Arnold.
“Every month we have a monthly theme, and whoever shows their image also talks about how they took it, what they did, how they edited it. It’s always a great way to learn and is a great way to showcase our work.”
Hosting a free night of photo viewing, the Photo Fusion event will showcase members photos with plenty of opportunities to learn and get inspiration.
“It is really stunning what the local people can produce. Digital has been an amazing way for people to learn photography,” said Arnold.
“There will be a bunch of different works and different presenters, it’s always a good time.”
