The Helen Schuler Nature Centre announced Friday the upcoming launch of its brand new website and to prepare for the big event, staff will be celebrating with a multitude of activities.
Helen Schuler Nature Centre resource development coordinator Curtis Goodman said in the lead up to the launch that takes place on Feb. 27, this weekend they are starting an in-person scavenger hunt at the nature reserve park which will allow participants to win big.
“Early Birds” are encouraged to visit the Nature Centre in-person for a variety of fun and interactive activities in anticipation of the new website. The sneak peek event can earn visitors a special Early Bird entry into the contest.
“That’s a great opportunity for families to come down over the Family Day long weekend to learn about the new website,” said Goodman.
He said the new website will allow people to find information about the Nature Centre a little bit easier, as right now their website is within the City of Lethbridge website and there is a lot going on there.
Therefore, it was important and necessary for them to have a stand alone website.
“The new website is going to be a fantastic way for us to share information, for people to be able to book into programs and to learn about this wonderful place in which they live, or maybe are planning to visit. I’m really excited that this project is now at the point where we can start to share it,” said Goodman.
He said they are encouraging people to attend the nature centre over the next few weeks, to do the scavenger hunt, to learn more about the website and reconnect with the centre if they have not been there in a while.
“For the scavenger hunt, we have hidden a number of tiles throughout the nature quest trail and you will be invited to take a scavenger hunt clue sheet to see if you can find all of the different characters. There’s a decoding of a message that will take place and then you bring that back into the centre and will get you a bonus entry into the contest,” said Goodman.
He said the contest itself will take place on March 31 and there is about $2,800 in prizes up for grabs, with most of them being from local businesses.
